Interesting thing about “The Fall” is that you’re constantly waiting for a beat drop that never comes. It just builds and builds. So the anxiety of waiting for the fall is woven into the production itself. Which I think is pretty cool.
Soooo about the two first songs, he performed them again this year at the concert I went at (Brussels nights 1 and 2) and it was truly amazing DD’s vocals are perfect and Montreal’s French verse is based on a popular 60’s or 70’s song called laisse tomber les filles, by France gall. The French lyrics literally translates to Let the girls go, or else you will end up left alone. Alright, going to enjoy your reaction to the next songsssss 🔥
I really enjoy EOS, he definitely doubles down on the toxicity (XO/The Host and Initiation). I think the very first verse in XO he's actually talking about himself. "Shots of the Henny, bottles of Patròn Blunts to your face, you don't wanna sing no more, lost your C notes Cabbed all day, took the bus back home Evictions on your door, blame it on the weed, blame it on the booze Blame it on the night life, light's passin' you, yeah". He and his friend got evicted from that two floor loft in the middle of the city and he spent alot of time riding the Metro (bus in Canada that's free) when he was homeless. Initiation is wild but I love it! His flow is awesome and I feel like his voice pitched up and down gives the feeling of being wasted. I personally like the rawness of hearing his breaths when he's singing especially in Same Old Song. You made a really good observation that I hadn't thought of when you said about The Dawn that you wondered if this is how it was in the beginning and that's why he turned into a hoe. Good point! I think trilogy is just remastered with the added tracks but honestly I’ve never listened to it. I’ve always just listened to them separately then just the 3 bonus tracks lol
