You know you're talking about a legend of the sport when Pep Guardiola is saying good things about you. Cruyff is one of the best players the game has ever seen. And definitely one of the most influential players. R.I.P to the Goat. 1947-2016.
This is like 1-2 years late but idk if he's really in the goat debate. But he definitely is the greatest dutch player of all time. My opinion anyway feel free to argue or disagree.
Johan Cruyff would be in my top 5 greatest players of all time.....not including how he changed football. people forget how good of a player he was . I am a madridista, but he is the only player ever to play for barca who i just cannot hate . the guy is an inspiration on life in general.
@Niranjan Rajesh Because he has put on the barca shirt over 700 times in his career and also many other reasons. I hate barca that much. But cruuff had impact on my personal life after I read his stuff
Cruijff was a modern fast player who revolutionized the game of football by opening the minds of many players and the school ch then they became great coaches of famous teams!
I think everyone knows he’s good but a lot of the Catalan media, Pep fans, and City fans over glorify him and think he invented everything there is to do with tactics and player positions when the truth is it’s been done for years by managers like Rinus Michels, Sir Alex, Happel, Marcelo Lippi, Van Gaal, etc. And Pep’s 2 UCLs with Barcelona were very questionable. Without the help of the referees he wouldn’t have made it to the final in 2009 and past the round of 16 vs Arsenal in 2011. That’s why.
I think if Pep wants to be the greatest manager of all time, he could try to win 2 consecutive triples now… but he has still won his trophies with clubs that had all the money. You still have to execute and bring it home, but let’s say he went to Dortmund instead, and broke the Munich dominance, so the German league became a 2 horse race for the foreseeable future. He would have less trophies, but that’s a lasting impact that has bigger influence. What about something like Monaco? There’s huge potential. The French league is kinda meh… but with his name, that will attract other opportunities. Have a long term project, built a school like Cruyff did it, break the PSG dominance, became a dynasty, and perhaps the whole French League will raise the bar as a result. Something of a longer term project.
