I remember when Michael Laudrup came to Barça in ‘89, I was a kid and nobody knew Laudrup. Johan Cruyff was under preassure of the fans to win la Liga, and nobody at that moment understood that style of game, but Cruyff was connected with a clear vision of what he wanted, instead of buying a popular player as a fan service, he was strong and perfectly knew that Laudrup was the man. And for sure, he was the man! Super Laudrup.

From all the worldclass players he was the one who could explain the reason why. That is a question players in the Netherlands ask....you have to explain why are you saying this or that should be done a certain way. Cruyff had the capacity to explain how to play and why! He then said because it's the logical way to do things!!!

I just love watching clips from the past man. They speak my language regarding football. Like Laudrup says there are NO rules in football aside from the laws of the game. On the pitch you can do anything & everything, as long as there's an idea behind it from the player himself. The reason why football WAS great, was because it was the most creative & intuitive players who used to overrule any system. All the great players find a way that no system is prepared for. Now players are forced to minimize risk which takes that creativity away.
The only manager who's currently trying to make football like it was in it's prime days is Erik Ten Hag. He was a big Cruyff admirer as well, and he understands that football fans go to the stadium for off the cuff, risky, but highly entertaining football. Individual brilliance, risky passes, creative football. He's getting slaughtered for it at the moment, because it's a new concept (again), but once he gets to build & succeeds at United, it will be beautiful to watch.
Cruyff's influence on the game will continue to develop in a different way imo. This is a football icon of the highest order.

Or are you now also gonna pretend that he did buy super class players when he was coach of Ajax in the 80's ???

He never hid that it ended up being a contentious relationship.
Im pretty sure that had something to do with Laudrup being left out of the squad.
U leave out ur creative midfielder to add another striker that doesnt get proper service?
Couldnt have been a purely tactical decision.
Even sacchi said after the match that Laudrup was the man they feared and he was left out. He was dumbstruck.
Something personal was going on. Maybe Cruyff new that Laudrup was leaving.
