I knew when I heard Calum’s Road 🎶 I was in for a treat. I wasn’t disappointed. May your future camps be a little warmer. Thanks for making and sharing.
The vids are coming thick and fast this week Donny, I like sea kayaking and I hope to kayak on this wonderful loch one day. Another lovely video thanks for sharing.
I absolutely loved this, thanks for sharing your adventure and your opinions of the tent. I almost felt like I was there myself - only warmer. Your brother’s kayak reviews have been incredibly helpful to me over the years and I had no idea, until today, that it runs in the family. I hope your new sleeping bag is more cosy! All the best, Chris.
Hello Donny. Nice to see you have a new vango tent with a nice roomier vestibule to sit in. Hope you have many good wild camps with it. Try a silver foil thermal mat under your sleeping mat and a bivvy bag to put your sleeping bag inside, it will improve to temp a few degrees. Really enjoyed watching. Atb Steve 👍
Congrats on the new tent Donny ....although beautiful as Ettive is at any time of the year it’s always stunning in winter , boy it looked a cold one! .... Been there , done it 😁...we live and learn 👍
Im living still tam..but not so sure Im learning any more. The countryside is lovely on those clear winter days ..the haze of summer tends to hide the detail :-D
Yup..im looking forward to trying the tent out in better weather gary..just hope the summer is better this year that last year. the west coast didnt get it as nice as the rest of the country. Lots of rain and wind.
great clip donnie, im sure youll enjoy your bigger tent to give u more room if the weathers not to good, iv'e owed 5 tents in the past with all different uses and for all different weather senarios . All i need now is a boat. lol
Will soon be summer. Hoping to get up to Conon Bridge to see friends this year, hopefully will get over to Kilchrenan for some fishing in Loch Awe and Loch Avich. Nice tent👌
Another great video, Donny! I too have this very tent, and I love it. It has all the headroom where you need it, but has a nice compact cosy bedroom area. Just a tip though- attach a couple of extra guy ropes to the front horns above the door as in windy weather it can be a bit unstable at the front. Other than that it’s a belter. Good luck with it 👍
I plan to camp on a few islands a long Loch Linnhe in the warmer months of May 15th for 3 weeks. Luckily by pure mistake I come across advice you gave someone on fribs & sibs about the tides and corron or carron pass. You said you don’t like spending money? My 3 weeks in a MotorHome is around £1000. Only place I could find with a slipway lol. My daughter bought me a van go 4 berth never been used for Christmas for £25 very light weight to, not opened it or put it up, it may have amazing STAR view where it’s moth eaten away. Lol Thanks for sharing l❤ve you videos, could be a life saver to. Ray K 🇬🇧. YNWA
I had a Vango Omega but forgot to unhook the tbx wind stiffening straps, or whatever they are called, when packing away. It therefore got damaged when trying to put it up the next time as a consequence. I was intending to replace the resultant broken pole piece but mice in the garage chewed up the ground sheet when in storage as I hadn’t been able to pack it away properly. Off it went to tent heaven. Always be sure to unhook those strap thingies whatever they are called.
Thanks for the tip michael.. its the beauty of the Vango Band tension system.. I can use it or not.. depending on the winds . My 15 year old banshee has it too and I still have the original poles :-D
The Omega was similar but had a side door and was larger. The 600xl or something. I got it for the extra headroom, like you. I now use an Outwell Arizona, which survived two storms in the Lake District, without having the tbs system. It’s heavier than the Vango though and more difficult to put up due to being a dome style.
Hi Dronehive ...if Im honest. Its a great tent for a couple on a campsite. However its not really for me in my solo adventure type use. I feel its just to big for that type of use. Yes its great being able to stand in the front porch but I seldom do that. The inner part where the sleeping compartment is .. is a great size and does suit me. So if anything happened to this tent or my Banshee 3 tent..I wouldn't buy another Galaxy but try to get something the size of the sleeping compartment with a smaller porch.. just big enough to sit and cook in. Hope that helps..but is only my opinion..others may differ
Hi Andrew ..I call it the Bug Off shelter. Its just a tarp from halfords folded and supported by the boat oars. I sewed midge netting to the edges so it forms the shelter. Its been a god send when midges are around and I only have the banshee which I cant sit up in ..hope that helps
Looks very nice Donny. Shame about freezing yer' threepennies off, but that porch will be just the donkey's for many a sheltered meal, especially if it & the groundsheet keep the midges out. Good effort & thanks for posting.
Hi citizen ..you will see some more video of it in my next upload this weekend. In the new video it was standing in 25-30mph winds and it did OK. However the front which was facing into wind was moving quite a bit and the large front pole was taking the brunt of it. It didnt break and was still standing in the morning. Very noise in a wind too. I wouldnt like to try it in a stronger wind though.
Nice n easy pace of life, doing what you enjoy - fabulous sir! Long may it continue.
You Sir are living my dream.
You have inspired me to come up to the West Coast later in the year with my 5 meter Tornado, thank you.
Im sure you will enjoy it fastasfox..just be prepare for the midges and its really great ..the scenery is to die for :-D

A couple of us also bought the same tent last year for longer stays. Pure luxury having so much room to cook etc.
Yup..im looking forward to trying the tent out in better weather gary..just hope the summer is better this year that last year. the west coast didnt get it as nice as the rest of the country. Lots of rain and wind.
Another nicely narrated video. Being visited by the sea eagles must've been something else.
I always enjoy seeing the wildlife SIB-X ..lucky there are quite a few sea eagles in my area :-D

Great Post,
Great video! What was the purpose of the big yellow ball on the back of one of the kayaks?
I had a Vango Omega but forgot to unhook the tbx wind stiffening straps, or whatever they are called, when packing away. Fantastic video Donny! A year later how is the Galaxy 300 holding up?

Hi - How did you attach the groundsheet to the porch? Did you sew them on?
Hi Donny, what was the name of that other shelter you use with the Banshee?
Hi Andrew ..I call it the Bug Off shelter. Its just a tarp from halfords folded and supported by the boat oars. I sewed midge netting to the edges so it forms the shelter. Its been a god send when midges are around and I only have the banshee which I cant sit up in ..hope that helps
Thanks for the info. I too am making something similar but from transparent tarp to see the stars
Looks very nice Donny. Shame about freezing yer' threepennies off, but that porch will be just the donkey's for many a sheltered meal, especially if it & the groundsheet keep the midges out. Good effort & thanks for posting.
It will hopefully be the dogs danglers Ashley ..my plan is to last longer when I go round the islands ..by shacking up the my new gin palace :-D
@@donnywilcox Will you be travelling in "the gravy boat?"
How does this stand up to wind?
Hi citizen ..you will see some more video of it in my next upload this weekend. In the new video it was standing in 25-30mph winds and it did OK.
