    Your step by step process assisted in transferring the logic to a horizontally sliding window. There were no tutorials for issues with sliders only windows which were hung. After watching your video, I found that it easily remedied the problem.
    Thank you for taking the time to explain this.

    Reshoot please, your camera 'looked away' at the most critical moment of disengaging the block and tackle.

      Sorry about that, matey. We'll out that on the schedule and let you know it's up. Thank you for the feedback!

      In the meantime, here is a description of disengaging the block and tackle counterbalance: Once you pop the clips in the sides of the window frame into the "out" position, lift the window up until you hear the clips engage the counter balance, and lift a few more inches. You should feel them catch and disengage. Then, pull the bottom of the window towards you. You may have to wiggle it a bit to get the window clear of the frame, so make sure you have a good grip on the window. The block and tackle counterbalance(s) should remain in the window frame. Hope this helps!

    This seemed like a lot of effort so i just sprayed some wd 40 in there and it worked like a champ

      Wd40 will dry out and make it worse. Used silicone spray

    The French word to use here is not viola (a string instrument slightly larger than a violin) but voilà (pronounced vwäˈlä).

    Hi, unfortunatly my sliding window doesn't have any clips, it is supposed to slide left to right in a track but won't budge at all.

    • @thepiratehandyman2225
      @thepiratehandyman2225  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First, you need to clean the track with warm water and soap, using an old toothbrush. Once clean and dry, try to work a flathead screwdriver between the track and the bottom edge of the window, and gently pry upwards. If still stuck, squirt a lubricant (3-in-1 oil, WD-40) between the track and bottom edge of the window, let it sit for an hour or so, then try to work the screwdriver in again. It should allow you to lift the window up. Then, slide it to the center, lift it up and out, then clean the bottom edge of the window casing and the track. Let us know how it goes.

    Im having an awful time trying to get my lower sash out. When I lifed it, It bent my clips so bad out of shape that I have to go buy new ones. Is it possible the balances are stuck in there and wont move?

    • @thepiratehandyman2225
      @thepiratehandyman2225  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aye, matey, it is possible. Try to squirt some WD40 or 3-in-1 oil in the track. Make sure you remove all the lubricant before resetting the window.

    This is exactly what I need but my sticky window in on the 2nd floor and I'm nervous to try this for my first time. But you didn't good job explaining how to do it.

    • @thepiratehandyman2225
      @thepiratehandyman2225  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand, matey, but you will be inside for the entire process, and you can leave the screen in place, so there shouldn't be any chance of something falling out the window.. Good luck!

    Why lube a spring? That’s like lubing your fork with oil to eat dinner. There isn’t friction to overcome as a spring should just expand and contract,... Right?

    • @thepiratehandyman2225
      @thepiratehandyman2225  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aye, matey, ye be correct. But you're not lubing the spring - you're waxing the track that the window slides in.

      Also springs will sometimes bind & drag inside a housing , There was this something about in a perfect world 🤔🤷‍♂️

    When your "cameraman" pans over to his left he completely misses your demonstration on releasing the bock and tackle. That's the part viewers cannot see!l He should be positioning the camera over you shoulder to get a closeup of the release!!
