i would use this trick when i worked in retail. we would rub wax paper on all of the hanging bars so the hangers would slide and not squeak when customers were moving the clothes around
When I had the glass replaced in most of my vinyl windows, the pros used silicone spray on the tracks and that made all my windows open and close easily.
My window installers always recommended Spray Silicone. I have never heard of using the wax/wax paper. I wonder if you have tried a combination of wax/wax paper And Silicone spray? Would that give an additive effect? Thx!
Looks pretty simple. Does it work better than Jigaloo, and how long does it last? I’m always fighting with my sliding windows, especially in the winter.
Pretty cool! Thanks. When did you say to "hit it a couple times" do you mean to do it a couple times consecutively or wait a week or two before hitting it again? And can you keep using the same wax paper over and over, or should it be a new piece each time you do it?
I read a comment somewhere else mentioning powdered graphite, it’s in a tube and available most places and fairly inexpensive. I’m going to try both versions..wax paper and graphite. House we bought had vinyl replacements and they’re all different sizes and I swear I have a couple that look to have been forced into a too small of an opening. The way everything has been done here certainly was done w less experience and very small amounts of money. It’s a charming home though..my very first.
My fiancé and I just purchased a home in December, and the windows are old wood framed windows. Only one opens, and I believe they were painted shut, or they're just frozen. How do I get them open without breaking them? I feel like I need to open with all my might, but it feels like they will break. Please help! LOL
@@chadharvy it could be a seasonal thing… or try some wd40, to get them moving and then clean up that mess and use some wax paper or silicone lubricant.
Great video bud!!! for everything that doesn't want to move i use WD-40 XD, i have a question bud, if there is only 3 tools you could keep, what tools would it be? and have a great weekend bud!!!
Beeswax would do the job. But even better than that would be silicone spray. Although, this will probably only work if wooden windows have been painted.
that's baking paper isn't it? If only I had sliding windows with that problem! We have windows that have the handle mechanism that blocks and I will have to find how to fix that
I have a different idea. The best way to fix a sticking window is to throw a hammer through it. That's a permanent solution, whereas just waxing the track is temporary, because the wax may eventually wear away.
Yes, you can use the wax paper to wax down the floor in front of the broken window...that way the racoons will slip and fall on their way in- free dinner:)
I’ve been tempted to throw a hammer through many times! If the cost of replacement wasn’t so high I’d be rid of them. They’re not only hard to deal with but they are extremely drafty.
@@qwincyq6412 because vinyl windows go bad quick. It’s plastic and so it bends and warps after a few years, especially when facing the sun. Wax paper, WD-40 and caulk can’t fix a bad window.
I used WD-40 Dry lube. Much cheaper than wax paper and it has so many other uses. But thanks for sharing. I always like your videos.
Solution: Apply wax.
Before you do, remove and wash tracks.
I personally always use a candle. It’s great for drawers too 👍🍺🏴
My dad would do this on the old wood double hung windows!! Worked great
Thank you Daniel San .., wax on … no wax off.

"if you don't have windows, your home kinda sucks." LMAO. this is true.
When I had the glass replaced in most of my vinyl windows, the pros used silicone spray on the tracks and that made all my windows open and close easily.
I have Andersen crank windows. I used the silicone spray on all moving parts and they are a breeze to open and close now
Hahaha... Me, too. I'll delete my comment I left about this.
You can use a candle or soap bar also. Good idea on the paper, some elements
‘If you don’t have windows your house kinda sucks’….🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great tip . If I do it then I would make it easier for my son to be able to sneak out without me hearing him open the window 🤔😄
How do your know your son hasn’t already seen this video? 🤔
Wrong video for you mom..sorry. That would be found in the HOW TO discipline your kid video
Secretly install a cheap alarm that makes high pitched squealing noises when opened
Busteeeed! And it'll wake you up before he succeeds 😆

I've being using silicone spray with last 40 years , works great on all window types ,
You're living up to your page name with the bloopers. That was a great tip tho... I just did it and worked like a dream .... thx!
🍻

It lasts longer than Jigaloo, and less messy. It does take a bit longer to work it in though.
Thank you!! For years, opening my window brought me to tears
Pretty cool! Thanks. When did you say to "hit it a couple times" do you mean to do it a couple times consecutively or wait a week or two before hitting it again? And can you keep using the same wax paper over and over, or should it be a new piece each time you do it?
Living near the beach, we used Surf Wax for the same purpose. Worked fairly well for couple weeks

Exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks!
I find the best solution is to have someone else do it for me.
Woah I can't really believe this worked so well. My wife was ready to have someone come and replace the entire window.
Nice little pro tip right there 👊
Video opens: If you don’t have windows, your home sucks.
Video closes.
I cleaned the track and used cold candle wax worked perfect for me.
Lemon pledge works well too.
Hahaha I love your sense of humor 😂😂😂 good jokes here
Would a very thin application of paste wax work well?
I’m sure it would
I use silicone spray and it works like a charm!
I bet!

If they are painted shut, you can try cutting the paint at the moving seem. I’d use an olfa utility knife.
@@TheFunnyCarpenter and if they're not painted shut? LOL How do you unstick old windows?

A drill, table saw, Richards red bar.
@@TheFunnyCarpenter nice!!! Never heard if a richard red bar, gotya google it real quick😅🤣
Bar of soap works well also
first clean the tracks, then run the soap though the tracks.
Beeswax would do the job. But even better than that would be silicone spray. Although, this will probably only work if wooden windows have been painted.
Can we use grease on the tracks
How to fix if you went to open the window like your and the plastic bowed and is separating from the glass ?
Thumbs up Funny Man. Thanks
Old timers told me just use leftover bar soap, they did on all their wooden drawers and even door hinges
How long does it last?
What if someone lives in a hollow tree trunk? Asking for a friend...
Is it tough getting in and out of said hollow trunk? If so wax paper will help.
@@TheFunnyCarpenter what an idea... Thank you!
Take a giant spoonful of Crisco and…oh wait. Nevermind. Don’t do that.
Why not use candle wax?
that's baking paper isn't it? If only I had sliding windows with that problem! We have windows that have the handle mechanism that blocks and I will have to find how to fix that
No baking paper would be parchment paper, that is wax paper.
Nora! 💕 🐕
neat trick
Can u do this with a sliding glass door
Yes
What about screens? I have many that are just too hard to open.
I think it would help.
You know, there are a lot of people that don’t have silicone spray, a candle and other things in their house, but they do have wax paper
Lol. So funny. Thanks for the tip
So you put wax on the contact points ...
Exactly
Back end of a candle.
Thats awesome
I guess it works for me as well
Ever try this on a sliding glass door? I'm going to go try it.
Please let us know how it works out.

If it doesn’t involve snacks, she’s out
I have windows in my house!
I just knew your place didn’t suck😂
@@TheFunnyCarpenter 😆😆😆😆😆
Couldn't you just get candle wax and use that?
Been using silicone spray for years. Easier and faster.
looking at my double hung vinyl windows .... hmmm
wax on....wax off
😍
This doesnt work for any of the windows i find hard to open. Once I get in then this would work. I wouldnt care then.
