- I LOVE doing mixed media collage for the faces I create on canvas or in my art journal! Typically I will do a collage background FIRST in my mixed media art projects, but today I started with a spray painted background and stencils. Then I drew in a face shape, added gesso, collage paper, and created this beauty in my classic "Hamburger" style.

Beautiful! Have ever used Copics in place of your pit pens? Just wondering if Copics would work🙄😁
Great question! I do not. For a few reasons! One is that they arent lightfast , so they would fade over time. The second reason is that Copics are alcohol based so they arent as opaque as ink and acrylic based markers and therefore dont "sit" well on top of other mediums. The third reason is cost. As you know, they are crazy $$ and mixed media work is hard on markers and pens. Copics are kind of a Divas and need to be treated solo on paper and IF they are to be mixed with other media they really need to be the first ones hitting the paper, if you know what I mean! And then you can layer with colored pencils or ink pens on top of that. Alcholol and water dont play well together either so that's another reason. The Posca and Pitt Pens are fantastic for writing or coloring over dried paint layers and they are hardy, opaque and made for this kind of work and media and so can take it!
