  • Here is a brand new demo with improved Google voice searches in the last 12 months (35 queries shown). You can now check business hours, get nutritional facts, ask for traffic, create reminders or even go through your albums to find those precious photos of your cat!
    Combined with Google Now, the Knowledge Graph and better natural language understanding, search is becoming smarter, conversational and more useful with every update. As Google integrates more products such as Gmail, Calendar and Google+, you can see how things are starting to come together.
    You can try these on Android or iOS, though keep in mind some of these commands do not work on iOS yet.
    For other examples of voice commands on Android, you can watch my previous videos from last year:

    Where's the status bar? A: I recorded the Nexus 4 in full screen mode; a feature of Paranoid Android.
    Was this demo edited? A: Portions of the recording were edited to fit into categories, but each query is shown as is (no alterations to speed).

    How do I enable hotword detection even when I'm not in Google Now? A: Unless you have a Moto X, utter! can do this. You can customize your own hotword (mine was simply 'Google'), or say 'Okay Google' to trigger a Google voice search anywhere on your phone.
    play.google.co...
    Those commands don't work on my device! A: If you have problems hearing voice answers (but you see answer cards), make sure to check your language settings within the app and ensure it matches your system language. In app settings, next to voice answers, enable "always speak". Also check your media volume (different from ringtone/notifications). If you don't see answer cards and get ordinary results instead, check whether the Knowledge Graph is available in your language and local Google domain. If it's not, go to Settings and check the box to search using google.com by default.

    I just finished a new demo with improved Google voice searches in the past year. There are 35 queries, including asking for business hours, nutritional info, traffic, creating reminders or even pulling specific photos from your albums on Google+. In the last segment, I added a bonus glimpse of *utter! beta* for Android.
    Combined with Google Now, the Knowledge Graph and better natural language understanding, search is becoming smarter, conversational and more useful with every update. As Google integrate more products such as Gmail, Calendar and Google+, you can see how things are starting to come together.
    This is just a continuation of my other videos from last year. If you haven't seen my old videos, they are: [ How to impress your friends: 40+ voice searches on Jelly Bean ] and [ Follow-up: 20 more voice searches on Jelly Bean ].
    The device is a Nexus 4 running Paranoid Android 3.99 (4.3) in full-screen mode. To replicate hot-wording, you can install utter! beta here (unless you have a Moto X!) - it's a great example of what's possible on Android.

    I'm loving how technology/software is developing.

    Google has worked on image recognition for the past few years. It can identify features, places or characteristics in images indexed on the web. Since May 2013, that technology has been extended to photos you upload to Google+. Without any tags, Google will try to recognize things in your photos, such as landmarks, sunsets, animals, flowers, food, etc. Pool was another great example to demo. Image recognition is not perfect yet, but it's getting better all the time.

    It's a built-in feature of Utter for Android. 'I parked my car' will save your location in the background. 'Find my car' or 'Where's my car' will open the most recent saved location in Street View/Maps.

  • @JeanLouisNguyen
    @JeanLouisNguyen  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Google Music was redesigned in May 2013 and the interface is much better than before. I haven't tried Now Playing, it may have more features but I would definitely switch back and see if it's good enough as your music app.

  • @JeanLouisNguyen
    @JeanLouisNguyen  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks @ShinchanPyara . The search you see at 7:24 uses automatic image recognition on photos you've uploaded to Google+, whether private or public. They don't need to be tagged and they don't necessarily have to be geo-coded (though tags and locations do help Google identify things such as landmarks). The queries work for you and only you (log in required). At the moment, some queries work better than others. Examples include food items, flowers, animals, famous landmarks, sunsets.

  • @JeanLouisNguyen
    @JeanLouisNguyen  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can replicate this with utter! beta from the Play Store. It has a 'wake up phrase' feature. When enabled, you can say 'wake up' or choose your own hot word to activate utter, or 'OK Google' to go straight to Google voice search. Keep in mind that utter is in beta, and because it constantly listens in the background, it uses quite a bit of battery. That said, it's very useful in certain situations, such as driving.

    Unlike time and location reminders, you can't create a search reminder directly by voice. For now, search reminders only work on some results found within the Knowledge Graph. For example, if you search 'Coldplay', you will see a card and an option to be reminded about 'new releases'. You can also try: an actor or director (for new movies), a popular TV show (for new episodes), an upcoming movie (for release date), a holiday, or some authors (for book releases). This will get better with time.

    It's Google Play Music. You can use it with All Access (subscription), cloud storage or local storage, or even all three.

    Hi. To use a hotword with Utter, open the app, go to Settings, then swipe to the 'Advanced' panel. Tap on 'Wake up configuration'. Enter a wake up phrase (mine was simply 'Google' but you can choose anything you want). Swipe back to 'Settings', then enable 'Wake-up-phrase'. Utter will now listen in the background for the hotword. If you say 'Okay Google' at any time, Utter will wake up, but your voice search will be handed over to Google automatically.

    Hi. Assuming you're using US English on Android, check the following in the Google Search app: (1) Language should be English, preferably US. (2) Speech output set to 'Always speak'. (3) Privacy & accounts > Search on google.com should be selected (instead of local domain). (4) Privacy & accounts > Personal results should be enabled. Additionally, some of these commands require that Location reporting be turned on. Let me know if it works.

    Yes, but still... Ads are ads. I would prefer to see them after the result, because this way it looks like Google is not sure about his results. Like "we know what You mean, but this might be even better".
    Never happened to me that and ad was better that something I really searched for. I understand it's their living, but... Well... It sort of get's in the way.

    • @JeanLouisNguyen
      @JeanLouisNguyen  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Google runs image recognition on photos you've uploaded to Google+, both private and public. The algorithm can recognize objects, places, animals as well as text (OCR). The word 'cat' doesn't have to be in the album name. Personal search results only work for you, when you're logged in. You can also turn this option off. When used in conjunction with Auto-Backup on Android, it's a great way to have your photos organized without any intervention!
