Very easy to understand, good job, Juva. I made mistakes when taking TOEFL 2 weeks ago: I didn’t paraphrase and not using punctuation in a correct way. I think those mistakes hurts my score.

Firstly, thanks a lot for the video. I really liked the way you explain everything in detail. Soon, I am going to have a Toefl test. I will use your strategies. One thing I want to ask if you can make a video about alternative ways of saying the word "agree" For instance, can I say " I support the idea of taking PE at university?
You're so welcome, I'm so glad you like it. Generally, you can say that. However, if the question asks you whether you agree or disagree, I would use the word 'agree' in the introduction because this shows that you directly refer to the question. I noted your wish :).
I'm so glad you like it 😀. No worries, since a template is not a memorized answer, but sentence starters, it will not negatively impact your score. I used my template and I scored 30/30 in TOEFL Writing.
Hi Juva ! I'm 16 and I will sit the TOEFL exam soon for the second time. Your videos are really understandable. I was just wondering if you can agree and disagree for this type of question.
Hi :) So great that you want to take the TOEFL! I'm so glad you like the videos. If you get an agree/disagree question you can agree or disagree. Hope this helps!
Your videos really are a helpful tool regarding the TOEFL test preparation! Thank you! I haven't found that information anywhere, do you know if the software used in a testcenter counts the written words? Because I'm sure I won't have the time to check within the time one's given for writing two essays. Also, is there a minimum word count participants have to write or is it more important to discuss 2+ solid arguments?
I'm so glad you like the videos :). The word count will be displayed on the screen, no worries. Yes, there is a minimum requirement regarding the number of words, but I recommend writing a bit more than that, that is, about 300 words for the integrated essay and about 400 words for the independent essay. Hope this helps!
I have a problem, I summarize almost everything in my mind. Even in my mother tongue, I write everything so brief and avoid extra explanation. How can I change that?
No worries, you can do this! Practice writing essays because this is the best way to learn how to elaborate. After you have written an essay check whether you have provided arguments, explained them, and given examples. If your essay is too short, think about how you can explain things further. Hope this helps :).
thank you for your efforts. I have a question... in body paragraph 1 after writing reason number 1 can I mention the following statement.... According to Professor Ali, who is a Doctor in Baghdad hospital "Daily exercising helps increase the concentration of blood in the brain and as a result brain functions such as thinking is enhanced". is this style of writing and sporting my reason accepted? or I should give example from my daily life.
That's an excellent question Mohammed! I'd recommend giving an example rather than quoting somebody. The reason for this is that if you provide an example, you can elaborate on that and this makes your essay stronger.
Hello Juva, I started watching your videos this week and they are so helpful 🙂. But I just wanted to know that, in first paragraph you have mentioned that you do not used to do exercise at all and in second paragraph you are saying that you used to paly basket ball. so don't we need to make over all essay convincing or I am not getting you properly ?
Hello Kamana, I'm so glad you like the video :). That's correct, in the first paragraph I say that I did not exercise when I started studying at university and then I started to go swimming regularly. In the second paragraph I say that I played basketball at university. This does not conflict with my earlier statement saying that when I started studying I did not exercise because playing basketball may have been at any point in time whilst at university, and so this may have happened after having started studying. Hope this helps :).
Hi 😀 You can find all essays here: juva.podia.com/toefl-materials Please note that the Independent Task is no longer used in the TOEFL. It has been replaced by the new Academic Discussion Task.
Hi Juva, I have a question. Is it okay that the paragraphs are not all the same size? I thought all the paras have to be of uniform size but the intro and conclusion para are pretty smaller than the body, will we be penalised for that?
Hi Swetha, the introduction and conclusion of your essay are naturally shorter than the body paragraphs. So, that's fine. The body paragraphs should have more or less the same length. Hope this helps :)
You're most welcome! If you agree with the statement, you should provide two reasons for your opinion. If you disagree, you should provide two reasons against the statement. Hope this helps :)
This is nice but I am not capable like you to generate ideas and use them in a sentence appropriately like writing in a story :( What should I do for generating ideas?
I'm so glad you like it. No worries, you can do this! Check out my video about how to get ideas for TOEFL Writing Task 2. You can find it in my TOEFL Writing playlist. Hope this helps :).
hi Juva would you please make a video for the independent writing section that the topic has 3 options one of which we should choose and write about that? I confused about that should we compare the options or just choose one of them and just write about that one. thank you very much dear Juva.
I watch the other videos for essay, I have question, would you please help me. I watched one video talk about how can write essay without using my opinion means don't no using my opinion they gave me bad score. But this video you used your opinion and world I . So I don't know what I use? Lecture say... Article say...
Hey 😀 In TOEFL Integrated Writing, you must talk about the writer's arguments and the lecturer's counterarguments. Don't talk about your opinion in Task 1. If you do, your score will drop tremendously. In TOEFL Independent Writing, you must talk about your opinion because the prompt asks you to do so.
First of all, thank you for your video. I am grateful for my preparation period. Your methods are the best. As I understood from the question that physical education is a learning method that could be done by remote learning or do the students need their teachers at their classes, but you mentioned physical exercising and playing basketball at the university. Am I wrong about understanding the question? :(
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it :). Physical education simply means gym classes. The questions asks whether gym classes should be obligatory. I said yes and I strengthened my opinion by telling the reader that I started playing basketball and that this was good for me because I exercised and felt good afterwards and so on. That's why I think gym classes should be obligatory because it is better for students. Does this help? :)
@@juva Thank you so much :) If you give us more transition words examples that can be very useful for independent writing essays it would be nice :) Thank you for your effort :)
Hi, if you take the TOEFL Home Edition you must use a non-permanent pen. If you take the TOEFL in the test center I assume that you will be given a pencil and should use that, however I'm not 100% sure. In this case I'd recommend asking ETS whether you may use a pen.
You have to provide two reasons to get a high score because the question asks you to provide reasons (notice the plural) and examples for your answer. If you struggle with finding reasons, check out this video where I show you how to get ideas for TOEFL Writing: th-cam.com/video/3D4wW-urIRs/w-d-xo.html.
Hi Asadu, I'd recommend thinking about your reason from different perspectives. For example, show a contrast, talk about a consequence and so on. Have a look at my video about the template for TOEFL Independent Writing. In this video I show you how you can elaborate on your reason and write more. Hope this helps :)
@@juva, thanks Juva. Please, I am trying to improve my word count for the writing section of the TOEFL. I just observed that though, I still make some points, but my word count is usually not to the required number. Please, what could I do to improve on this? Thanks for the great work you are doing 😊
@@asaduchukwuebuka8359 Hi Asadu, elaborating on your reasons and examples is key. Try to view them from different perspectives, and write several sentences about that. This should help you increase the word count.
Hi Juva, excellent video. I just wanted to ask what if in the TOEFL there is an agree/disagree question with two sides (one which supports the statement and other which opposes). I have heard that in these kind of questions, you should debate both sides one in each body paragraph. Is that true? or should I just write about the side which I agree in the two body paragraphs and support it?
Hi Ricardo, thanks a lot, I'm so glad you like it :). If the question asks you whether you agree or disagree with a statement, you have to agree or disagree in your essay. This means that you have to decide for one side. I have not heard of such an essay question. Of course, you should always be prepared for changes. I'd recommend reading the question thoroughly and then it should be clear what you are supposed to do. Hope this helps :).
Hey, will you please make a video on How to write Compare and Contrast essay where we also have to talk about our personal opinion. One of the topic I came across is mentioned below, It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why. Thanks Juva :)
Wow! I am trying to practice this task but can barely reach 250 words and do not have any extra minute to check for some mistakes I might make... Not sure how I am going to get even 350 words...
Good evening teacher, I am happy to join you to day to congratulate you and grab that chance to ask how you can assist me to write a good essay by knowing your good methodology. Indeed, i would like to attend to a writing class of methodology and pratice, because I want to improve my writing skill to raise challenge TOEFL to apply for a master's scholarship program.
Hi :) Have a look at my TOEFL Writing playlist, you can find a lot of videos there where I explain how to write the integrated and the independent essay.
Hellow Juva, I have a question, I have already taken the toefl home edtion and had a problem during the integraded writing essay, my interntet conextion was unestable for some minutes at that moment and I was not able to finish to write, I was in my last paragraph and I could not finish it, so my question is if the ets will evaluate my answer unless is incomplete? 😔
Hi Jordan, so sorry to hear this. I don't see why ETS shouldn't evaluate your answer. If you are unsure, I'd recommend contacting them. Wish you all the best!
Hi Juva, I want to make you a question: according to writing section in TOEFL exam, would be possible use idioms to replace words? For example if I want to use savoir faire in order to replace social skills, this would be consider as extra points?
Hi :) I wouldn't do that, especially because idioms are rather informal. Your essay should be written in a formal way. If you paraphrase, try to use synonyms that are not informal.
I don't have to add example that is directly linked my personal example is it okay for body prgh ? Can I use like this: According to X magazine ? As X points out that...
Hi, some of the people say that using someone’s template will result in lower scores, is that accurate? I’m so confused and curious about that. I planned a template from toefl channels which seems advanced so I hope it won’t effect :/
Hi, using a template won't result in lower scores. I used templates and it worked out fine. A template is just a framework, it is not a memorized answer (the latter would result in lower scores). I'd recommend the following: Check out the template you like and make sure that it only contains expressions you are comfortable with. If you don't like a word, change it. This way you can personalize your template.
Generally, I recommend writing more than the word count. However, you should not exaggerate it. Always remember that if you write more, there is a higher likelihood of making mistakes which may lower your TOEFL score.
Juva, thanks for the video. You are amazing! Actually, I'll be doing the IELTS exam. Although this video is aimed at the Toelf exam, I felt it fits for IELTS task 2 as well. Could you please confirm my impression? The main difference I notice is just the number of words, which on IELTS it is required at least 250 words. Appreciate your help. :)
Hi Mirella, thank you, I'm so glad you like it :). Although the TOEFL independent essay and IELTS Writing task 2 seem quite similar, I don't recommend writing them in the same way. To get a high score in IELTS Writing task 2 you need to write in a different way. Hope this helps :).
I think your essay is probably off topic. In these reasons, the importance of excersie was elaborated, but not in any sentence you didn't provide any detail about why it should be mandatory. Universities can persuade students by providing awards and other stuffs to participate more in excersie according to your essay and there is no comparative or advantageous of obligatory of such a program. Thank you
@@juva Hi Juva. Thank you for your kind reply. My reasons wod be like this: 1- If the university make participating in sports mandatory, it will affect ths budget negatively which iy can be invest in labratories and develope more modern technogy. Also this kind of spsnding budget would be a waste of investment because most of students would not participate in sports activity, even though it is obligatory. 2- being mandatory, the program would not have made students intrested to be more active and participate in sport for a long period. To be more specific, at high school a clasa of sport is in fact obligatory. However, none of the students have more mental nor physical health and only a few continue sports and for these few people the university should not have invest in such a intensive program. Thank you.
@@juva Tnank you Juva. If I may ask can you tell me if your arguments is good enough for the toefl and don't reduce any point? Actually I will take the test on 28 November and would appreciate if you tell me if I can use these kind of arguments specially in this kind of cases that specifically did not mention main part of the question in this matter, the mandatory part? Thank you
@@amirhosseinhamedi297 Hey Amir, as I said I think you can approach the question in different ways. One way is to do it as I am doing it in the video. My essay answers the question. I scored 30/30 in TOEFL Writing and used the same strategy. So you can definitely get a high score if you answer the question in this way.

Thanks, Juva for this amazing video. I have my TOEFL tomorrow, so any suggestions for the exam day.
I'm so glad you liked it! I would suggest to believe in yourself and be confident because you can do this! :)
Great job 👍👌 Thanks a million
Thank you! You're most welcome :)
Hey juva just a quick question.
Can we use words like I'd, they're, they'd, you're, we're, you'd, etc or the full separated words?
Hey Mitesh, I'd recommend writing everything out. Using contractions is ok in an informal context, but here we are in an academic context.
I got a question please. In the exam day , will I be able to see written text after 3 min or it will disappear forever 😄 Thanks.
I assume you refer to the article in TOEFL Writing Task 1, correct? You will see the article when writing your essay.
@@juva It did, indeed. Thank you and have a wonderful start into the week!
Thank you. I will try to do as you suggested. Your channel is very helpful.
Hi Juva, what about thesis statement ? do I need to add it ?
Hi Mafrey, you should write a thesis in your introduction :).
thank you for your efforts.
The reason for this is that if you provide an example, you can elaborate on that and this makes your essay stronger.
i love your essay structure,,,but how you care your skin..its very cute
Thank you so much! I'm flattered :)
@@juva Thank you so much for your quick response Juva.
@@kamanagautam435 You're very welcome Kamana :).

Thank you so much! Btw say I agree to the statement and state 2 reasons. Don't I need to say why I disagree?
Hi Nasim, I noted your wish :).
It's very very helpful essay 🙂 I just wanted to know tht can I use IF clause twice in the same essay ...it wouldn't effect my score .
I'm so glad to hear this! Sure, you can use two if-clauses. This will improve your score since you show that you know more complex grammar.
Hi Juva, I have noticed you have used a lot of "I" in this essay. Does repeating I impact the score? If yes, what is the alternative?
Hi Kavil, I wrote my essay exactly in this way in the TOEFL and I scored 30/30 in TOEFL Writing, so it didn't lower my score :).
@@juva Hi Juva, do you have any plans for creating videos of analytical writing assessment (AWA) of GRE.
@@KavilJain514 Hi Kavil, I'm afraid I have no experience with the GRE, so I can't say anything about that at the moment.
really helpful
Glad to hear that :)
Hi Juva, I had a question related to the toefl home test, specifically about the writing section. Is the writing section typed or handwritten?
Hi Naaz, in the TOEFL Home Edition you must type your essays on your computer.
@@karanfill You're so welcome! I noted your wish :).
Hello, can we use pen instead of pencil during the official test.
Hi, if you take the TOEFL Home Edition you must use a non-permanent pen. If you take the TOEFL in the test center I assume that you will be given a pencil and should use that, however I'm not 100% sure. In this case I'd recommend asking ETS whether you may use a pen.
allows students or allow students? thanks for the videos
How can we take your response pdf for this question ?
Hi 😀 This essay is included in the TOEFL All-In Bundle, you can find it here: juvastore.sellfy.store/p/toefl-all-in-bundle/
This has made writing so easy, thanks from India
Most welcome 😊 Best wishes from Oxford
if at the exam I just have one idea or reason, can I develop that one in a deeper way or I have to have two reasons to get a good score?
You have to provide two reasons to get a high score because the question asks you to provide reasons (notice the plural) and examples for your answer. If you struggle with finding reasons, check out this video where I show you how to get ideas for TOEFL Writing: th-cam.com/video/3D4wW-urIRs/w-d-xo.html.
Thank you for your video ma, I have some challenges elaborating more of the reasons I have given. Any suggestion on how to improve that?. Thanks

What is the time to write the essay, I can see your essay is lengthy it will take at least 30 min for me to prepare and write this type of essay.
You have 30 minutes to write the independent essay in TOEFL Writing.
I think you are taking about the integrated task
I have a question mam, if I agree and disagree for the argument, can I write this for 2 ways
Hi Asmita, if the question asks you whether you agree or disagree, you should pick a side and support your opinion with reasons and examples.
Hey, will you please make a video on How to write Compare and Contrast essay where we also have to talk about our personal opinion. One of the topic I came across is mentioned below,
It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why.
Thanks Juva :)

Wow! I am trying to practice this task but can barely reach 250 words and do not have any extra minute to check for some mistakes I might make... Not sure how I am going to get even 350 words...

@@juva Thanks Juva, for your advice
Hi! Can I write using British English spelling?
Hi :) Yes, you can. It's important that you use one type of spelling consistently, either British or American English.
Hi. Does failure to capitalize first letter of each sentence affects the score?? Thanks
Hi, you should pay attention to capitalization. I assume that if it happens often, it could lower your score.
I don't have to add example that is directly linked my personal example is it okay for body prgh ? Can I use like this: According to X magazine ? As X points out that...
Sure, it doesn't have to be a personal example.
Thank you:) Actually the template which I use someone else’s really suits with me. If I use that directly the same in exam will it reduce my score
@@berk8541 I don't see why it should. If it's a good template and you are comfortable with it everything should be fine.
Is there anything wrong if I write more than 500 words?
Hope this helps :).
hello Java. my name is madit and would like to register for toefl. can toefl sores place me into a good School in Canada?
Hi 😀 So great that you want to take the TOEFL! I recommend contacting your institution to find out which score they require.
Thank you
I think pointing out the advantages of exercising is one way to argue. I'm interested in your arguments, how would you argue? :)
Thank you.
