  • Loved my kick ass trade show headphones....
Hated the earpiece deteriorating and leaving black crap on me and everything....

Worked like a charm. Used rest of sock for top head piece. Just wrapped around and tucked it in on ends. Thanks so much.

Awesome hack. :) I knew I was saving my favorite holey socks for something. I slid mine, elastic-side first, up the entire wire, then cut a slit in the floppy bit to allow the wire to go through once I'd tucked it into the sponge. I felt it was a waste to just throw the flaking cushion away just because it was unsticking. Thanks for this video!

This is a great idea. I hate when that leathery stuff flakes off. I'm gonna try this on a pair that needs it. Thanks for sharing the video.

This is the best hack ever. I am going to show this to my son. He has two pairs of headphones with worn-out earpads. Thank you

Works like a charm! I do not care for headphones and don't like spending money on them. But a family member bought new headphones and I got their old ones (Philips Fidelio L2). They were already 4-5 years old and started to tear. Was thinking of getting something new when I stumbled upon this video. Offering a pair of old worn-out socks was easy. And now I can keep these for a long time I hope. Thanks for making this video!

Great video. Thanks for the tip.
By the way, it would be better to insert the socks first then cut it off after so you can determine the length to be inserted. It won't be too long nor too short. Just enough to fit snuggly in the ear pads.

This is an improvement for a brand new pair (regardless of price) if you don't like hot sticky vinyl. Enjoy them on Master & Dynamic MH40 and fun to cut up stupid old dress socks you no longer have to wear.

Great idea! I’ve been ordering replacement pads for my Bose comfort headphones for too long. I know what you mean about the little fleck pieces that fall off. I was embarrassed when someone asked about the little brown pieces on my ears. It took me a bit to figure out my skin wasn’t falling off. LOL

Thank you! I was able to easily sacrifice a pair of socks I never wear and put it over my peeling headphone pads. It was getting so bad I have earphone pad flecks all in my bed from the pieces stuck to my face the night before. I'm glad I didn't have to buy new. Quick, easy, cheap.

The dishwasher is really the _only_ place to wash socks. It gives the cutlery such a nice ... aroma.

Good thinking and well presented video. I have an a Sony headphone with the pad facing flaking off as yours did. I was thinking about improvising a cover from socks or some suitable fabric. Your solution is pretty easy. I can think of a couple of similar ways to cover the pad face with material using an elastic band or even a tape like the plastic tape or gorilla tape. Too bad a sock won't cover the mowing rider seats that crack.
