I love how they incorporate elements into the music in Soul Reaver. The rain and thunder here, the crackles and whispering in the cathedral... Amazingly atmospheric, and so simple.
This saga totally deserves a proper HD remake same but with maybe just a bit more flowing gameplay and samemusic only higher quality!!! and same camera maybe a bonus a first person view mode as zelda wind waker hd versión things like that!!! everything in the game was perfect!!!
This is my favorite track of the game. The heavy drums bumping and the organ rolling in creates a foreboding feeling so well without having to overdo anything. I miss games like this. Linear and well told story-lines HAVE THEIR PLACE.
I never had too hard of a time playing this area as a child on the good ol' PS1, (R.I.P. my old scratched up SR1 disc...) but I just played this game on an emulator and while combat became more difficult in general, I had a hell of a hard time in the Drowned Abbey only because side stepping and not being able to use an analog stick made the Rahabims absolute bastards to either fight or avoid damage from them. Same goes for the Zephonims, I spent 3 days in the Silent Cathedral because not only are the puzzles elaborate there, but the Zephonims are disgusting to battle without proper controls. (I thought about simply buying a pc controller but realized it wasn't really worth it when I could configure the keys and also use spells to make life a little easier.) On a side note, when you gain the ability to swim and proceed to the hidden area with all of the Rahabim pupa's, the sight of those cocoons floating around anchored to the ground by naught but a few strands of some kind of silky fiber used to creep the hell out of me as a kid, it was especially scary when the fledglings would burst out of their cocoons and start pursuing you in water. Not so scary now, but it sure had its impact back in the day. On a slightly chuckle-worthy note, I was gliding across the platforms around Rahab's main room, and a Rahabim randomly decided to lunge at me from the water, it missed me and instead landed on the platform I was just on and then died from exposure to sunlight (despite the rainy weather implying that it ought to be cloudy and obscuring the sun there.) That was the funniest thing that ever happened playing this otherwise grimly serious game. Then, toward the end when you trigger the cutscene where Raziel gets a glimpse of his final battle with Kain, the cutscene froze, and the sound of the ending and the end credits just decided to start playing and I just sat in my chair simultaneously laughing while baffled at this emulator glitch, luckily all I had to do was fast forward the end credits and intro of the game (keep in mind that I'm still seeing the frozen cutscene mentioned earlier.) Then the frozen cutscene abruptly ended and the game continued as if that hiccup didn't just happen. I had to collect my thoughts for a second before proceeding to the final battle. It was way weird. Not sure if any of these things happened to anyone else. Just thought I'd share my experiences. :)
Rahab is not the fifth lieutenant, but the fourth. Raziel fought his brothers from the weakest to the strongest and the positions they occupied in the Sanctuary of the clans is not the normal one : only Melchiah was at the right place. In the order : Raziel, Turel, Dumah, Rahab, Zephon, Melchiah.
This comment is rather funny; the confusion is probably not in the actual order of the lieutenants, on which they both probably agreed. Instead the one orders them from ‘weakest’ to ‘strongest’ and the other does the opposite..making one call Rahab “fifth” and the other call him “fourth”
I wish the organ had more play time. Imo, it added such a depth to the theme overall, like you knew it was good then the organ comes in and makes it better. And now I am wanting a total remake of the game. I can really see the Rahabim taking advantage of their habitat, like when you are on the rafters in the church, they jump out the water and drag you down sending you back into the spectral realm.

@TheBleeding1991 well Rahab always had a weakness to sunlight that his brothers didn't have, that was stated in his bio, his skin was much thiner and paler then his brothers which caused him to keep the weakness for sunlight that the others evolved past. When he evolved it was amplified so far that he could no longer leave the building he stayed in unless it was dark.
Last night I had a dream where I was in a cave flooded with many metal fences and this theme was playing, the cave was dark and I was tryng to escape swimming for some reason I wasnt scared
I had a dream that living Raziel was wandering around wrapping people under his wings and killing them, but he didn't take the blood through his fangs, he took it through the blades on his wings, and his claws

Rahab may not be killed by sunlight, but when you kill him, you don't just open a window and let the sun shine on him, you open 6 (or is it 9?) windows, let the sunrays from each window be reflected (and thus amplified) in a mirror above Rahab which then shines directly down on him, So he gets hit by 1 Sunray which consists of 6(or 9?) amplified sunrays. No vampire would survive being hit by a sunray amplified 18(27?) Times

Much has changed since Raziel was in the abyss. What seemed a moment for him, centuries have passed in the physical world. They evolved throughout those centuries.

@mama5000 That is because Rahab as a vampire didn't have a strong weakness to sunlight but as they all evolved during hundreds of years in Kains empire they all changed and developed strengths according to there specific territories and clans and all developed weaknesses some sunlight some fire some the weakness of putrid flesh. I mean for example the strongest brother is Dumah by far because he was virtually invincible compared to his other brethren. so basically there weaknesses took time
