Ian Holm only lent his likeness, he didn't voice his character, there was a voice double that did an amazing job.
It's a good thing they made this game when they did, to get that kind of collaboration from the original actors. As of this date (12/24/2022) only three of them are still living today.

This DLC was a reference to a deleted scene from the first film that never got finished or put in, the scene is in the book and some of the screenplays I think, the scene has Parker going to seal something and he comes across the Alien going near an air lock Ripley and Lambert on the radio to him, he tells them to be quiet and slowly open the door to the airlock room then when he tells them to, quickly close the door and open the airlock
It almost works because they turn on a green flashing light in the airlock room and the alien goes to check it out, then just as Parker radio's Ripley and Lambert to close the door an alarm goes off, the alien bolts to the door and gets through but the door closes on its' arm and starts to break it, the alien breaks off it's own arm like a lizard sacrificing its' tail and runs away in pain spraying acid everywhere, it knocks Parker into the wall on the way past and knocks him out,
Ripley doesn't get an answer on the radio from him so she goes down to check if he's ok around the time that the acid finishes melting through the door to the airlock, the airlock itself is still open from the trap and starts to suck all the air out of the room, the ship automatically detects a bad depressurisation and locks many doors around the ship to stop it but a methane canister gets caught in the door and Ripley has to knock it loose with another canister, she manages to do it without blowing up the canister,
Then Ripley has to try and manually close the door but is suffocating at this point, Ripley and Parker are bleeding from the rapid depressurisation, she staggers over to the door lock and tries to close it, realises it's the wrong lock, delerious from lack of air has to cross the room to the correct side and fumbles around failing to press the button, Lambert comes and manages to save them both by closing the right door and using an oxygen mask on the two of them, then the Synth comes and asks questions about the alien and if its' ok, marvelling at the alien's regeneration potential
This leads into the next scene where Ripley questions Mother about the alien and starts to distrust the Synth, it also explains why she has a nosebleed at random, because originally she was recovering from depressurisation injuries
spartan3924 wouldve loved for Lambert to get some praise. Cartwright did a marvelous job on Alien and is kinda forgotten.
I also heard it was Ashe that tipped off the alien by setting off the alarm.

Multiplayer, they are completely cut off from each other, and you occasionally get a "go here" from the macro ai or "director" and the director could even have the menace gauge and say "ok go search over there now you found nothing here"

There should have been a multiplayer.
The map would have to be huge, like the whole sevastopol. 4 players would have to collaborate to collect stuffs in order to say repair the escape pod. One player would be the alien and would have to hunt them down. At least 2 people would be needed to ship the escape pod. Also I think it would be fun if the players could kill the alien by teaming up together and ambushing it, meaning the alien would also have to be careful

the game itself is amazing, recreates the mood of the original 'Alien', however when the character gets attacked and knocked down by the alien at 13:10 and Lambert (clearly the most paranoid/hysterical character from the movie) just stands there calmly watching over the fight is somewhat unrealistic :)))

Try crawling through the duct, and it pulls your ass into the ventillation system when you exit. That is pant-shit stain in the making. Or the damn thing dropping 10 feet from you from an opening in the duct. If they took the effects from the game, and used it to reboot the movie or something, the entire audience would be scared stiff, and you'd be wandering amid the smell of human waste as people can't control themselves. That's the fear of this game.
Xenomorpheus Every Alien film that came after the original seemed to loose more and more of the ambience that made the first one just terrifying. Alien Isolation brought that back . . . I remember during my first play-through getting so scared I got those hot-and-cold adrenaline chills. lol Yeah. This game scared the crap out of me . . . and omg getting dragged out of a duct by the alien. I know. O_O

Well the first one was an unintentional success, as it's premise was truckers in space getting killed by this alien. Scott turned it into a work of art. Cameron took it another direction, making the creature capable of being killed with military grade weapons, but there was a nest, and the damn queen took the original one's place. 3 and 4 were just meh, but could have been better had the directors put more thought into it instead of making them kill fests.
I'm hoping that Blomkamp, when he starts on Alien 5 after Scott releases the next prequel, he might play more on the corporate aspect, but who can say. The original premise of Alien 3 was going to involve some kind of religious cult, and I kinda hope Blomkamp uses that to some degree.
But yes, I'm relatively new to survival/horror games, and this one just keeps me in a state of fear. More so than Doom3 did when I had 5.1 surround (will never play a game like that in the dark again . . . E V E R).

basically the player should save at least one flare to attract the alien inside the airlock if you lost the first chance to lock it.. i throw all my flare and have to resort to clanging the airlock walls to attract it inside
I would love Creative Assembly to work on a sequel. This time you play as Rebecca Jordan (Newt) on LV-426, in Hadleys Hope in the events after first exposure to the alien and aliens and then finishing when you are picked up by Ripley and the Colonial Marines... 👍🏻. This could covet the loss of the inhabitants of Harleys Hope, crawling through the ducts and the loss of her brother Timmy... etc

One factor I like about the game is , no matter the alternative outcome , Ash is still alive and therfore will still sabotage your plans to kill the Alien .

I just found the fake outs annoying. It's like, oh alright I stopped the Alien and then all of a sudden the robots go crazy. After that is settled and we get rid of the Alien nest, we see several aliens escape and you have to make it to your ship and the fake out cliffhanger ending is annoying since now it won't get resolved.
I know the Robots were screwy the minute you get to Sevastapool. But after you get rid of the first Alien, all of a sudden they just go on murderous rampages trying to protect the Alien nest.
We know Amanda makes it back to Earth as per Aliens.
The game is just so much better than the original movie, if you can compare. It's one of the best games ever made.

OMG use the map it will guide you to the tasks. Took the player for time to pass up the tasks. the map would have helped a lot. The key in this game is not to be seen by the alien as much as possible. I did this in the alien isolation main game. she passed me up many times and never saw me. Never run anywhere.

Yeah I didn't get why he was doing that, though in fairness the DLC is a lot harder than the main game and it's not as easy to not get spotted.
And people say this thing can't be scary anymore. All I have to say to them is watch a Let's Play of Alien Isolation. With the right atmosphere and soundtrack this thing can still be frightening.

I love the attention to detail specifically the xenomorph in this dlc is designed completely accurate to the 1979 movie which has a more humanoid structure
They used the same xeno model as the game. It still has the extra knee that makes it look faster instead of completely humanoid legs

Charizarzar I’ve played it a bunch and I’m sure that the DLC is the only time you can encounter an Alien in the ducts. Usually that’s a way to hid from the thing unless it catches you going into one.

I'll admit, I had just got the game and hadn't even met the alien in the main story and so decided to take a break (WHY?!?) to play this crew expendable dlc- FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THE ALIEN. After an hour I reached the vent part after much sweat and strife (and dying) but when I went down I had not idea about using a flame thrower so I kept getting jumpscares at the base of the tunnel! NOW I KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! LIKE WTF!!!

I was initially really excited about the Ripley DLC, but having listened to the voice acting, I honestly have to say they wasted their money. With the exception of Ripley's, the other voices just sound waaay too old and gravelly, that it's just weird seeing those voices come out. It would have been much better to just hire sound alikes.
Superficial at best, who wouldn't want the originals reprising their voices?
+Tobisaru They could have at least gotten ILM to run the recordings through their machines. With how high tech ILM's sound equipment is, they probably easily could have made their voices back to how they were in the movies. If not that, they could have pulled the lines from the original movie and used those instead of re-recording. I mean, that's the sort of stuff ILM does.
That's the reason I never got the DLC. Having 60-70 year old voices coming out of characters who appear in their 30s is not good.
Some people are lucky enough to not have their voices change as they get older (James Earl Jones for instance), apart from Sigourney, the others were just too old for their voices to fit appropriately with the youthfulness of the character models.
+Elizabeth Lestrad overall shouldn't take away from the gaming experience. When Robert Duvall and James caan reprised their godfather roles in the video game, they sounded older than their models but didn't really hurt it so much. Think of it as a mix of old and new
You think so? I just watched the OG Alien for the third or fourth time about an hour ago, and they sounded almost the same to me. I actually thought they pulled the lines straight from the movie until I read some of the comments.

This game would have been even more legendary than it already is if they just made a DLC for Hadley' Hope/Sulaco from "Aliens" & Furina 161 from "Alien 3" then you would basically have the whole entire Alien Trilogy in one game instead of them keep trying to make another Colonial Marines rip off as another separate game & never making a new Alien 3 game which they probably never will💯 honestly they should have originally made the entire game based on the Trilogy , we could of had one film for each chapter that wold have been the ultimate Alien game ever💯

I wish there was more stuff related to the classic aliens movie. The only things related to Alien was the cast of characters. The ending was kinda shit but whatever the game Alien Isolation was FUCKING amazing, get the game NOW!
For God's sake please learn how to use the peek function and listen for the position of the alien instead of backing up into it. I earned all 50 achievements for this game and got the 4 hardest achievements in nightmare mode. It hurts my eyes to watch you fumble around in this video. I'm rooting for the alien!

This looks like the part from the movie where Dallas is in the airshafts and gets taken by the alien. If that's the case, shoudn't you have played as Dallas instead of Ellen?

I'm currently playing the original story mode on hard I ain't downloaded this dlc yet it cones with the game but want to complete it before playing the crew expandable dlc. What did you think of this dlc I heard its based more on alien resurrection but I wasn't sure weather or not to believe that cause I figured if they were going to base it on anything it would be alien then maybe release there second game as aliens followed by alien 3 and so on although I could be wrong just wanted your opinion on it. And was hoping you'd tell me its not based on resurrection :) as that would make a great game later down the line

If you bought the game as the Nostromo Edition...you'll have a card inside the box with a 12 digit redemption code on it, which you can redeem on the PlayStation network...there are step by step instructions on how to do it. If not just go to the PlayStation store...type in Alien isolation and go to the add ons...you'll find it in there, I think it's about £3ish. Hope this helps

Why does the game not let you get past the airlock? Every time I get there it sends you back to the start menu. If that is all it is then crew expendable is crap.

Son I saw Alien in 1979 in 70mm when it just came out. I know more about this film than the average guy. The game should follow the plot but also be open-ended. That's what I like about Alien Isolation is the rewards of getting to a safe spot and moving on. I'm certain they blew it when the game ends with Ash opening the door and using the klaxon. It follows the book, not the movie, when the creature is attracted to a green light near the airlock and almost gets sent out to space.
onecircle1 They could not do this the way you want, because it would affect entire storyline. Imagine that: you throw alien into the space - Ripley, Parker, Brett, Ash, Lambert, and Dallas are going home safe. Ellen returns to Amanda, and there would be no need, or reason for entire Alien Isolation game :) And it follows the movie as well (in a way), that part was filmed , but edited later on, like some others.
onecircle1 this 'green light' scene was actually filmed (no scene with the alien, only a tense conversation with Parker through the intercom), however it was deleted from the final cut - even wasn't put into the director's cut version.

I admire all the hard, wonderful work that the developers put on this, but I must admit that I'm perplexed by certain element - or lack thereof - that for me destroys almost completely the immersion that all those efforts struggled to achieve: WHERE'S THE AVATAR'S BODY - AND, CONSEQUENTLY, ITS SHADOW?
Please, someone tell me if it's just a graphic configuration settings option that can be turned on at will, even if it's at the expense of some performance drops. This game is just 2 years old, I expected the "disembodied floating ghost camera view" syndrome to be completely vanished from the FPS realm by 2015. If it's not the case here, I think it's one of the worse game design decisions that I've seen in my entire life.

For another time plz play the main campaign first before you attempt to do a run of DLC on Hard and have no clue how to play. You didn't peak, you didn't distract the alien with flares and you had no idea how to avoid the alien and move on. I got annoyed with your gameplay. This is just an advice, take it or leave it.
