Hey Tim. I visited a couple Big Lots this weekend and the one didn’t have movies on the floor so I chatted with the manager. He said the company made them do a reset and they didn’t have room on the floor at the moment so they had them in the stockroom. The other Big Lots had a brand new stock of movies in.
I checked another store after I did this video and there is one more in my area I need to check. In the past I’ve made away with great hauls for cheap from Big Lots.
I went to an estate sale on Saturday and bought a Sony VCR with remote control and instructions and CRT tv with remote control. They had a big digital tv for $55 but I think it was too big for my space. You've got good thrift stores around there. Good hunting and cool video Tim!👉🙂👈
Wow! These are great finds! I never see things like that at my local thrift stores, have to go down to the next city to find it. Big Lots is absolutely still selling movies, I just did a pick up haul video from there. I'm curious if you asked an employee where they were hiding their movies ? Great video Tim, I plugged you on my video!
I did not ask and I should’ve because others from my area have responded saying they’re moved up front in a tucked away area. I looked up front but I guess I missed them haha. Guess I need to go back.
Awesome haul and prices! My big lots is doing fine on physical media and just got in a lot of new stuff. I don't have a lot of secondhand stores around my area which is where I primarily build my collection, so I'm trying to plan a further trip/vacation for shopping!
I'm from literally the same town you are from! I do the same Salvation Army, then Big Lots run lol Big Lots moved their movies into a horrible spot up by the registers, like before you go in the line go to checkout, there's all phone chargers on the wall, if you follow them down to the end of the line the movies are there. It's awful and hard to go through the movies anymore unlike the nice spot they had in the back of the store.
Haha small world. I’ll have to head back and check that area. I was looking around up front but must have missed them. I was thrown off not seeing them in that back area where they’ve been for so long.
I'd love to get my hands on that Schwarzenegger book, even more so if it was updated to include all the movies he was in from the late 90's and 00's like T3, The Sixth Day, etc, etc.
16:00 A few months ago, I bought that same '24' steelbook set with the digital countdown from a local Value Village, but the battery was flat, but I easily replaced it with a battery I had bought from a dollar store and funnily enough, the LCD display is not a countdown, but counts upward from 00:00 to 24:00. I got it for $7.99 in Canadian dollars and I just couldn't pass it up. ;)
My Big Lots (California) moved the movies to the front of the store on the unused side of the checkout area, did you ask an employee if they removed them? They got rid of the cardboard standees and placed them on shelves.
I don't have a player, but I do own a beta copy of "Back to School," (1986). I think the format finally died in 1988. I still play some vhs, the occasional Laser Disc, and even a few movies on "video CD." Best to have the old tube tv to match the technology of the day.
I have three Walmarts within 30 minutes of me one is where my wife works pretty well stocked, one barely has anything and one had all the steelbooks!!!
A relative of mine was in that Big Lots recently. The movies are hidden to the side of the outdoor tent display near the front of the store.
Yeah I need to go back haha. I looked towards the front area but obviously missed them. Oh well a reason to go again!

Nice haul Tim. It looks like you found some good deals on the tv show box sets.

I agree i too enjoy finding tv seasons and movie franchises over time it makes collecting very worth it and very fun, it feels like a treasure hunt.
It’s so much more rewarding when you find those missing seasons someplace.

I love making trips to further away areas for new stores. It always feels like an adventure.
My closest Big Lots stopped bringing in movies and a year later, said store went out of business.
I had a super close Big Lots that closed years ago. I miss that one often. It was minutes from my house.

Nice haul. I haven't found much but at value village last week I cound a super 8 movie camera in box and tank girl on laserdisc.
Oh dang a Tank Girl laserdisc is a super cool find.
The last time I was in that Big Lots in WB the movies were in a weird spot. They were on the back side of the check out corral.
Can’t wait for your new shelf Tim
Thanks
The Bette Davis ‘This ‘n That’ book was published in 1987…

Tim, I'm super curious if the betamax player still works, any update?
It powers on, but that’s about all I know at the moment. I’ll probably order a Beta tape off eBay soon so I can fully test it.
That’s what a book looks like nice
That’s looks like my local Walmart Tim
