How to dial in those pencil tool settings

✏️ I discovered the magic of the pencil tool via Abi Connick a couple of years ago now, and it is crazy powerful. But unless you have the settings dialled in, it might not work the way you were expecting.
1. Double-click on the pencil tool to bring up your settings menu
2. Slide the fidelity option all the way to the right (smooth)
3. Check ‘close paths when ends are within:’ and leave this at the default 15 pixels
4. Check ‘Edit selected paths’, and then bump the slider all the way up to 20 pixels
If you don’t have these settings changed, you’ll need to get your cursor SUPER close to your path to pick it back up again.
