    u need to vacuum on waste mode. Faster and better for the filter. Most likely you gonna have to change that sand.

      How often would I have to change the sand?

      Waste mode bypasses the sand altogether.

      @MikeDoesDIY you only need to replace every 5 years or so. Vacuum on waste. Backwash weekly. And rinse after. Add back by hose what you "waste" during vacuuming. Hope this helps ❤

    I got this really great youtube tip for getting the air out of the hose: before you plug it into the out-flow you hold it over the return flow to push all of the air out of it.

    If you ever have to drain the pool, add a main drain in the center. It will help keep the bottom clean. I added one to my Intex and i hardly ever vacuum. I just brush the dirt towards the drain and let the filter suck it up. It also causes floating bugs and debris to swirl in a tight group directly over the drain that can be scooped up with one dip of the skimmer net. Best mod I've done to my pool.

    Place shutoff valves on each intake valve (if you have 2). I shut off one intake valve and use the other intake valve to vacuum from. Sometimes, i vacuum with the waste setting and sometimes on the filter setting. This completely depends on how much dirt/algae is on the floor of the pool.

    If you hold the hose over the jet that blows water out until it bubbles, it will get the air out of the hose. Then you can hook the hose to the suction side.

    To get the air out of the hoose put it on the outlet and it will push it out

    Did your pump leak where the basket part hooks on to the pump?

    So are you vacuuming with it on the “filter” option and then backwashing and rinsing? Because I don’t have a “waste” option like most people are saying to do to vacuum and I’ve been trying to figure out which setting I need to do to vacuum

    • @CrushedEMTB

      Vacuum on the backwash setting

    I dont understand....where did the hose hook into? The same spot the water is taking in, into the pump?

    Hi there. I have a Bestway 12’ (39” deep) round pool installed. I converted to an Intex 26643EG sand filter 10”. It says it’s a .25hp motor. And, I also added a Hayward skimmer. I’d like to install a vacuum for it. The local pool company is not sure the motor is strong enough to install a manual vacuum using the current sand filter/skimmer. Can you help me out with some advice? Don’t want to spend on a hose/head/pole if it won’t work. But at the same time avoid a $300 manual handheld vacuum if it would work.

    Vacuum on the waste setting instead of the filter setting. When you vacuum on filter ut pushes everything through your filter and thats why it stops suction on you. If you vacuum on waste setting it bypasses the sand filtering part and just sends it out of your pool.

      I’m new to sand filters and just got mine and I don’t have a “waste” option, I just have the backwash and then rinse. If that’s the case do I use the “filter” setting to vacuum or is there another way?

    • @giniascott2575
      @giniascott2575 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, don't use the filter setting. If you don't have a "waste" option on your sand filter then you may have to vacuum using the siphon method instead of using your filter. That's where you just hook up your vacuum to your hose and put the vacuum in the pool. Then slowly start pushing your hose under water starting with the end that's attached to your vacuum and continue pushing it under water until you reach the very end. Then just use your hand to "cap" the end and toss that end out of the pool. It should create a suction by gravity if done correctly. I hope that makes sense.

    So do you plug vacuum hose into intake or outtake? Do you vacuum in filter setting?

    • @CrushedEMTB
      @CrushedEMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Intake. But if you put the hose in front of the outtake/jet, you can blow all the air out of the hose before you put it into the vacuum/intake. You'll have much better results.

    If you have a lot of large debris, can set the pump to waste instead of filter to vacuum?

    • @CrushedEMTB
      @CrushedEMTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can set it to waste but you won't get the same pressure I believe

      What does it do different from the filter?!?

    • @Mike_Neukam
      @Mike_Neukam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Instead of pumping into the sand filter, It will pump directly out the backwash port. It wastes a lot of water but it will give you maximum flow.

    • @eab576
      @eab576 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mikeneukam5936 and it saves you from having to replace the sand in the filter more often.
