    That looks epic! He's pretty jacked for Wesley though. As you say more comic book style. Still, really has some presence. The shades are a must! Fantastic work!

    This is an odd vid for me, I loved the initial skin colours, they really looked good for darker dark skin and I'll be using them to death, no question. I hadn't paid attention to the vid premise tho and just as I was excited to see the working up of the light over that great base I realised the skin was already done so that wasn't going to happen. Again the colour choices are spot on but it feels like a base laid down quickly with the airbrush that you could really then build on with lights from particular directions..
    The same is true of the clothing and particularly the silver details.
    The result has the look of a vinyl action figure rather than a painted statue/figure/work, which is certainly a way to go on huge scale minis, but wouldn't help a 28/32mm mini at all, the volumes would need a lot more help

      Thanks but what you're referring to is not my paint style. Like I explained the figure is more "comic" based and I mainly used it as a platform for explaining the quick method I used for the skin tones. I don't paint using a certain light source like minis would have, but I respect that method. I tend to circle the hyper realistic style where natural light sources everything.

      @@TheCreativeCollector Absolutely, I didn't focus on the keywords you'd used and that was my error. That said, as a base for dark flesh colours it makes a very good natural looking base indeed, at whatever point you stop, and as a cartoon style at large scale it makes absolute sense as is

    Okay you bring up something I always wondered. When we shade things, and then actual light creates actual shading it looks not real. I see why you have to shade 2D images, but I believe it should be employed minimally to create a BIT of contrast to bring out detail on large scale models. Miniatures are a bit different. We have to shade AND highlight tons to bring out details people otherwise will not see.

      Once I get the base on. I use it mainly for highlights

    • @tchancellor3
      @tchancellor3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok. in the video it shows you using the flat earth brown as the base coat, then the german black brown for the accents on arms etc. then it jumps to the eyes and details. i am assuming the chocolate was used in there somewhere because when it transitions to the details and eyes, the colors look more dynamic. thank you

    May I ask what colors did you mix for your pink undertone?

  • @comicsmayne2566
    @comicsmayne2566 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Personally I think you could have went a little darker for Snipes. The complexion you used on this blade should have been the complexion you used on the Storm Statue you painted. She was too fare skin.

      It's a mix of colors. I explained that in the video that it's based off what shade you want it to be. So it can several different colors. I use a brown base for mine and go from there.
