Someone taped me this back in the day,and im feckin happy to of found it again,a time when men were men,and proud of where they were from, you can feel the passion,do even if its NOT your choice you carnt knock it for the passion running through their veins❤
Wooow!!! Joy is a great album. Thanks for sharing this rare jewel of The Skids. Seven years ago I was in Edimburgh and I saw Iona, the island, and I did remember this song.... really thrilling!!!
Stevie Ramone I think most of it was filmed in a little Welsh village called Aberdaron. I have tried to find confirmation online but I have had no luck. I only know because I spent every summer holidaying there as a child.... the islands are very distinctive... Bardsey Island figures heavily.
As best as I can see none of it is the actual island - though you can find Celtic Crosses still standing, ancient graveyards and atmospheric beaches none shown in the video are that of Iona itself. Even the profile of the island is quite different.
my son is lewis if he had been a girl it was iona the hebrides are the closest thing to heaven on earth mind you im glad id never been to muckle flugga by then
What a rip of of Wings 'Mull of Kyntyre" - naming a Scottish Island AND using bagpipes! Actually,I'd love to live there - if anyone asked me where I live I'd say "Oh,Iona Island!"
Heard this for the first time after the passing of a very good friend it was played as he was taken into church.
God Bless and Rest In Peace Rob.
Joy was such an underrated album, pure class

Scotland gave us Skids, The Rezillos and Johnny & The Self Abusers. Brilliant bands all of them.
Goodbye Mr Mackenzie, Gun and Big Country as well ;)
Not forgetting Associates & Cocteau twins & beyond the self abusers, simple minds were fantastic until Derek left.
Can't stand the rezillos
One of the best bands ever.
Great! Long live the memory of Columba!
It's a heart-rending song, especially since Stuart's last with the band.
It would be hard to imagine this being recorded in2019.
MIND BLOWING - even now !!! thanks for posting
Something mystic about it , where to put this music? Also produced very special .........love it
Rab Nesbit would be proud of this song
Toasting a wee dram or two What a epic great song
Ah wisnae share ut furst but ah hink ah like it ay.
Mull of Kintyre is a peninsula, not an island, and there ain't no bagpipes on this. ;o)
best scottish band ever.
Big Country were brilliant too (OK only Stuart and Bruce were Scots but the music deffo was).

Spectacular song
This is the only song on this album that Stuart A. played on.
Bloody good record!
when I have children I'll call one of them Iona probably. mainly because of this song but there are other underlying reasons also.
Produced by Mike Oldfield
gloomy but beautiful
the last skids song Stuart played on? although was it replaced? Mike Oldfield?
Tell me more?
Not sure this was ever answered. My understanding is that Mike Oldfield played Fairlight CMI on this track and may have produced it also
Definately not embassing. Cool Dad
Jobson looks like Stan Smith from Family Guy!
Was this actually filmed on Iona?

That's interesting. Nice work. Thanks for the detailed reply.

Surely if your gonna release a tune called Iona shouldn't it have been made there? 🤔
so is MacBeth

Correct I think it was his last Skids recording.
