11:44 this whole shot just feels soo surreal, being slingshot to Venus and doing an eva during the flyby just gives that whole "humans were never ment to see this" vibe and later hearing they were starting to go insane (even although the reason for their deteriorating mental health has nothing to do with that) just solidified the feeling of uneasyness
A broken treadmill, a almost silent months long voyage into the abyss. And a copy of Each one of the greatest Russian writters. They were ready for the loneness of the void and the silent despair of Dostoievski. But the treadmill. That was the thing that broke and break them.
@@victor_silva6142 I don't think taking some of the most depressing, melancholic and overall sad books for a months long journey in deep space is a very good idea
If they mentally break, they start breaking things on the ship. Not uncommon for them to vent the O2 and the like. With luck, they'll still make it back alive.
Every time I'm reminded that Beardy really put a crew to fly-by Venus, I can barely believe it. Hopefully they return safely (and with enough sanity left).
I'm gonna do my best to sort everything out! Great video! Don't poke Surveyor 3 btw, that one landed softly so the various booby-traps are probably still active... 👀
Oh god is the Venus mission going to turn into the first ghost spaceship? Crew going mad from isolation and murdering each other/just leaving the ship to drift in space forever?
There were mission called "Souz t-15" it was go to "Mir" then to "Salut-7" then to "Mir" again. And soviets used "Mirs" engines to change orbit for that would be enough fuel for thous dockings
The amazing bit is that my birthday falls within the week or so of them passing Venus, so my Kerbal gets to have their birthday within eyesight of Venus! 😊
When i sent a man to the moon in a mercury capsule, he had several mental breakdowns. They seem to result in them messing up and losing a lot of some resource. I kept loosing electricity from him losing his mind. This was a while back, so it may have changed, but i hope this helps. May the brave cosmonauts aboard Rogatka return safe and sound!
I want to ask if you've been reading "A Sound of Thunder" on alternatehistory for inspiration regarding future Soviet moon missions going into the 70s. Nixonshead's writing and renders are incredibly compelling, and I wonder how they'd translate to KSP.
Beardy, a question if you do not mind... how do the kerbals store 10 months of food, water and oxygen for 2 people on a platform of that limited size, or does RO not take that into account?
in my experience from a very scuffed duna mission they have a mental breakdown at 100% stress it can result in nitrogen depressurization or parts failing or breaking it’s not very good☠️
@@Notazomb6319 it says the model is from BDB, but RO borrows models from a lot of other mods It might be another mod from the same creator, like Soviet Probes
When crew exceed stress, they become "Tourists" and cease to be Pilots, etc. But they will survive and, with an automated craft, you should still be able to control the mission. They should return to normal after returning. I was wondering how you were going to avoid this, but now I know.
I think it’s kinda bullshit that they change so many things in this mod retrospectively Surely they could make existing vessels keep their original parameters Imagine if you build a space station with modules that you pick specifically because they have treadmills & then suddenly they start going insane, but you have no idea why Like people spend hours, literally hours building some stuff in this game but they just ruin your mission in one update
The failures of Salyut and Soyuz in this episode feel so realistic.
But at least there wasn't an 'Ocean of Storms' type incident
Glad to see the return of the series, and I don't think the release could've been on a more appropriate day.
Why’s this day appropriate?

The technology of the time was barely enough for a “safe” moon landing, a manned Venus flyby? That would be crazy even in this era…

So many things went wrong
The suspense was killing me
I'll admit I was one of the Venus flyby naysayers, but now I'm hoping they come back alive and are able to get the counseling they need.
Counseling as a couple?
Oh god is the Venus mission going to turn into the first ghost spaceship? Crew going mad from isolation and murdering each other/just leaving the ship to drift in space forever?
Well, Beardy did say it was automatic, so their bodies will probably be discovered

As the Venus flyby is autonomous, this might not occur as the cosmonauts aren't actually doing anything
Love the series it feel so real and is so much better than For All Mankind
Glad to see it back!
Being back on the last sunday before going back to uni is the best new year gift i could have got

It's happening!
definitely gonna download the installer
maybe this is gonna be the most popular version of rp1 modpack going forward
Ah yes, the STASI heavily appreciates sending our "cosmonaut" to the "civilian space station"
Lol
Assuming that resource concentrations mirror the real world, you could also look at Whipple crater at the moon's north pole.
Its back! Nice to see that this series is continuing

Yes! I'm working on that at the moment, hopefully it'll be out sometime in February

Hey Beardy great to see your back again. For All Mankind Season 4 Episode 10 was nail-biting-ly awesome, wasn’t it?
OH MY GOSH YEAAAA
Yup, nerve-racking for sure! I was hoping for Mars to declare independence, but I guess it is to soon to create the MCRN :/
From where are those hinges and track wheels? I thought there were no robotic parts supported in RP-1.
Infernal Robotics and Kerbal Foundries
They aren't supported by RP-1 by default, we added them in ourselves
All included in the modpack :)
WE RETURN
What do you mean your stressed? You have only be stuck in a coach airline chair for 20+ months, how would that be stress inducing?
Land Konstantien and Milli on the surfice of venus one day.
