      Until my Pomeranian died a couple of months ago aged 15, she was an excellent alarm and i didn't need a doorbell on my front door as she'd let me know even if the postman was a couple of houses away; it was always worth paying attention when she started barking.

    Yellow Lab... man. An old roommate of mine was given a purebred Yellow Lab by a breeder for reasons no one could quite figure out - the roommate did some work on the guys farm, one thing led to another and one day he comes home with this adorable puppy. (He used the communal mixing bowls for her food for the first week, that's how woefully unprepared he was!) As you would imagine, she was the sweetest thing ever. But TINY - she could fit under a plastic single-step step stool. Another roommate had a Maine Coon cat. The BIG ones - he was bigger than the puppy. And he was NOT pleased to have this tiny puppy chasing him and trying to play with him, so he would thwap her with his paws only. No claws, just the giant paws of the Maine Coon. So she would go hide under that stepstool to get away from him.... which actually worked because all the cat wanted was for the puppy to stop bothering him.
    Dog roommate moves out for 3 months for work, takes the puppy with him. 3 months turns to a year (he's subletting the room to someone else, but still technically living there), and finally after just over a year, the near-full grown dog comes back ... and the very first time she see's the angry cat (now 1/4 the size of her!) she tears off around the house to find the step stool, tries to fit under it (and obviously can't) but she keeps trying to until she literally pushes the stool through a screen door and into the back yard before she realizes what she's done. Then she turns around, looks back at the door, sits down next to the step stool, hangs her head and her tail wags slowly in shame as her owner comes outside and is entirely incapable of processing what just happened.
    I don't think the cat even got up from his spot in the sun while this was happening. I think he just raised his head to watch, then when she broke through the door, he went back to sleep.

      @unterdessen8822 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      @@staleypharmaceuticals2071 Try a Maremma. Looks and acts almost identical, but they're really an example for shepherds using psychological warfare on wolves and bears. Maremma mountain dogs are kept in the central Italian mountain range as LGDs for sheep.
      They have the same height and colour as the sheep and a very similar body type with a slighty curly coat. The shepherds make sure, that the puppies grow up among the sheep in an attempt to brainwash them (the dogs) and even make them smell and move like sheep.
      The final product is basically indistiguishable from the sheep and walks with the herd as one of them, so predators can't tell that there are dogs with the herd. Wolves will try to separate sheep from it, but the Maremmas in stealth mode intercept them (because their dog instincts remain intact and tell them to defend their own pack - which includes the sheep in their case), so every time a wolf closes in on a sheep, it gets to face a dog.
      This results in severe mental issues among the wolves: They start to think that they can't trust their senses and maybe the next seemingly unattended herd of sheep is really just another pack of dogs, that PRETEND to be sheep!
      Imagine you're in a club and every time you approach a hot AF lady, she turns out to be a middle-aged office employee in drag. After a while you'll start to question whether you're in the right type of club and not dare to chat up any more girls there, because ALL OF THEM could be middle-aged hobby drag queens.

      Hi Southern Belle. one of my early experiences kept poking in my ribs reading this. With any dog, especially a rescue new to you. Always get a second opinion with their health needs until you have a vet that really fits. I'm not out here calling some vets thieves, actually yes I am. Even if there not some have some very expensive ways of working and are over the top with all the things they tell you a dog will need. I grew up around 14 farm dogs and our vet was the best I've known. My dad spent next to nothing on dogs vet bills. when I moved in the city later and had my own dogs. I found it quite usual among the dog owners I spoke to for them to be spending hundreds if not thousands at times. The dogs on the farm were working animals so we could never have left them sick What I realized is as with human medicine and 'well being' there's always someone wanting to sell you some potion or procedure that your just as well without. Anyway something told me to mention it. Cockers are wonderfully turned on and present companions. happiness to you both

They are chosen to be service dogs, guide dogs, bomb and drug detection dogs. They are in fact very easy to train due to their eagerness to please, friendly nature (and being very food driven doesn’t hurt either). Why someone wouldn’t at least do basic obedience with any dog is beyond me…but then again, look at all the kids that are out of control too. Admittedly labs are crazy puppies, I always say they are that cute for a reason…but given the proper basic training that any dog should get, they are fantastic adult dogs, eager to please and thrive off of having a job to do.
