Ibuust wanted to tell you that i applied for a tech job and then watched your videos non stop for my interview and got the job!!! Goong to contnue to watch bc its been 10 yeara since i was in tech. Thank you for making these videos!!!
COBUMAN!!! I’ve watched so many of your videos.. more than 4xs. From learning O365, AD, and how to answer interview questions. I can proudly say I now have a help desk job! Your teachings definitely helped me be very well prepared. Keep posting!! P.S. even your older videos from 3-4 years ago are still note worthy
You make my work easy, thank you for the tips and help. Sometimes ago I was using Hyper-V, created a new OU, added users to it, created virtual computers and added them to the domain. The trouble came when I couldn't log into the virtual machines using the users I created, it kept giving me an error and I could not figure out that I needed to give them remote access permission. I struggled so much until I watched this video, so thanks man, you saved me from that headache.
I'm working in NHS as ICT Technical Analyst. I always watching your videos and I can say that you are doing very good job and I can suggest your videos to anyone who wants to become a IT technician. The things which you showing in this video, we are playing with them in everyday. People who wants to become as IT technician, just let you know that they will not let you to access these system easily because of security issue and also in nhs you have to be band 7 or higher level to play with these things and setup a server. They will only let you to access users account and some device settings...etc.
Your videos and the way you explain things have been a tremendous help. Thanks to you, I’ve learned a lot and have been able to apply the knowledge I gained from you in my new job in IT support!
Hi Cobu! This is an excellent video on networks, computers, and servers! However, since it is beginner training, showing how to create computers and users in AD would be interesting. Nevertheless, the last part was the most interesting! So often, in a company, IT sets up a share (without backup), but you have to reset it at each restart (without knowing the exact letter) of your computer. So clearly, here, you reveal the problem. They do not know how to set it up permanently through a logon script (in AD) for automatic reconnection at the start. Many thanks! PS: waiting for the final missing part: logon script!
I personally love the first version/ video of the crash course for AD, this is too fast phase to catch up, and many of the steps are skipped or not shown in this video, video is also not showing the screen, I could not tell on which screen you really were on the VM or the server machine I would love a extremely detailed video of AD . I love all you videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge its greatly apricated.
Hi Cobuman, very useful video, and how to restrict folders permission,How to prevent users from deleting one folder, while still giving them modify permissions to other files and folders?
You just need to add or remove their login id from the folders, or if they are part of a security which has access to that folder then that group needs to be removed as well. It's part of this video as well, but here is the Network Shared Drive video which explains this: th-cam.com/video/ikldIPTQbC8/w-d-xo.html
Hello sirr Cobu. I hope you are doing well today. I appreciate your videos so much. I wonder if you have one which includes more computers that are separated per department in a business setting with different group policies and network drives and all of this stuff. I know that the setup will be different in every company thst is why you just include one or two client computers but it would really make a difference to see atleast 2 computers per department for example. Thank you so much❤
Hi. You can create separate OUs (folders) and move computers to specific departments, but if a company is really large you would still keep computers in a single OU. Otherwise it would be a bit tedious to apply group policy to separate OUs. Let's say you create a GPO for computer settings to change, you can just attach to that GPO to single OU with all of the computers in it and be done. If you have computers separated by department that complicates things. I guess there may be a good reason to do it... it might be worth exploring in one of my future videos.
hello cobuman and thank you for your training. I encounter a difficulty when I install the hyper v. I receive the following message: "Cannot validate argument on parameter 'PercentComplet'. the 101 argument is greater than the maximum allowed rang of 100. Supply an argument that is less than or equal to 100 and then try the command again."
Hello Cobuman, How can someone uninstall or remove the Microsoft development kit that was not properly installed, as i cannot see it from add/remove program
You can try looking for "uninstall" .exe inside the folder where it installed. Maybe it installed itself under Windows Features. Otherwise maybe delete the folder.
Hello. The lab does get changed/updated periodically so I'm not sure if it's missing or named something else. You should still be able to follow along with DC server.
You can try using other VM software but that requires more setup. For example, VirtualBox and you can download free trial Windows Server from Microsoft to install on it.
Hello @cobuma, How did you setup the password for the virtual machine for the main domain controller as I am not able to login into the CORP/LabAdmin. Where do i find the password when it is your first time accessing it. NB: When I set it up, there was nowhere I was asked me to setup a password

@@Cobuman thank you so much for replying. I am having a hard time following, for example; when using client1 and try to login as testuser4, it saids domain is not available? how can i fix that. thank you so much
I installed nfs shares before the active directory controller install role, question is is this a problem.? Because my Proxmox server is seeing the share but the server 2022 don't accept the connection. I used nfs shares without the controller and without problems before the new setup. As I needed to reinstall my setup under vmware and after the fresh setup and the shares I installed the controller and it is complaining about Synchronization to the dns ❓and the controller seems waiting to finish the setup.
Can someone keep it real with me? My computer is taking 10 minutes to open the lab environment, I5 10400k processor, 512 SSD, 16 gigs ram... do I need to sell this thing to get serious about virtual machines? I would love to learn more, but these old PCs are kind of a hinderance...
Depends on how many VMs you’ll have running and how much storage you’ll allocate to each. Tbh you should at least have 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM to run multiple VMs otherwise you’re not going to be able to boot all VMs.
Putting DHCP on a Domain Controller is not a good practice. You wouldn't want to do that in a real production environment that opens up as a larger target. Plus if the DHCP fails, you have to take the DC offline. Also DC are generally clustered for HA that syncs with each other. Most places uses a separate DNS and DHCP Server rather it's Windows Server based. InBlox, BlueCats or Linux based that integrates with AD and Networking hardware.

That would be incredibly time consuming. I simply don't have time to make a pdf document for each step here.
@cobuman Can you do this lab and hyper v with Windows 11 Home?
I'm not 100% sure. Check Turn Windows Features On or Off just like in the video. If not there, it may still be possible to install.

Not sure exactly. But, make sure you have enough free space before installing and make sure you setup network first inside of HyperV.
What's the system requirements for a computer to run all of this?
Minimum i5 or similar. 16GB RAM and 250GB drive. Here is my video on that: th-cam.com/video/laDQImMNaCc/w-d-xo.html
