@@phuong77nguyen77Samoyeds need regular grooming to get the undercoat out and keep the skin healthy. You need a grooming table with a halter to hold her head. She will not be able to escape so will learn to submit. Always show lots of love and praise when she is "trapped" and she will get the idea it's a pleasant time with lots of attention. Our Boy can't wait to be brushed now, doesn't need the table except when we comb after washing him.

Great vid with a dog that lays down while getting combed. I like the fact that you just lay with them for comfort and also using your body to manipulate their position. Also the fact that you only use that one comb is different from most. Thx for a great demonstration.

Hey Kait, you mentioned spaying can affect a Samoyeds coat, please can you explain this in more detail? What's your experience on the difference between spaying and not a Samoyed? We really want a Samoyed to be our next dog so I'm trying to educate myself on them as much as possible so I can give my future cloud the best life :) your videos are amazing!

    • @summerrees2567
      @summerrees2567 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Becky Rothwell as a general rule i would recommend spaying/neutering your dog as unfixed dogs have a higher risk of cancer. The difference with the fur is that a fixed samoyed is a lot fluffier and they dont shed the same. Unfixed samoyeds shed twice a year in massive amounts, fixed sammies shed less but constantly

Our male Samoyed Son Shine of Star Stuff (Sonny) still has his jewels because he must be intact to be shown. He has won a couple of blue ribbons but it is very time consuming to show dogs. Wish we could devote more time to this as he is an excellent specimen of the breed, he could be a grand champion. What a joy to see him in the show ring with other Samoyeds, it is always a thrill for him and for us to see them all together!

I think your experience with samoyeds could help you create videos that could be even more useful to new Samoyed owners. Your relationship with your Samoyeds speaks for itself, you now how to keep them happy and cooperative. So explore more about what makes you good with them and make those peanut butter and jelly sandwiches type of videos. To get ideas read the comments and questions. Just as an example: how to keep them busy , avoid boredom. Another one could be how you plan their days , what is a good routine for a Samoyed. Thank you.

Hello from Alaska! My family has had 3 Samoyeds over the years and they've all loved being out in the wild with us. Dad's current Sammie jumps right in his rowboat with him. She doesn't like being left behind!
One thing to keep in mind: if they get wet they may remain wet. And you won't know it until she starts to smell and you take the poor little bug to the groomer...
We found out the hard way!

My Sammy Golden mix has more fur than these beautiful Sammys. I use the Dyson animal vacuum with the brush attachment, makes it faster. I got the Dyson wireless for wood floors, it is a daily event. I have a hard time using the comb for the whole dog, i do 5 minutes brushing each morning, again later in the day. We had an intense winter, lots of snow, so he is blowing his coat now, it is taking weeks. We live in snow territory, with lakes. In winter he loves to run up the mountain in snow, in summer he like to go for a swim in a lake, but takes a long time to dry. He is 125 lbs, so no canoe trips. I also have a German shepherd and she is way easier to groom. Bear, the Gold Sammy, is lots of fun and smiles all the time. The GSD, Heidi, is the dog who will protect us all no matter what. I trained her very well so she likes people, little kids, cats, dogs. However, if you are a burglar or con person, she will know it instantly and become scary. She is crazy about family, we love her a lot. I can’t pick between breeds so have 2 dogs very different. I want a dog that works with my lifestyle. I like big dogs, and furry is good in the snow. But I have to admit, it is a lot of vacuuming and grooming. These are my kids, so it is all worth it.

I have a Samoyed and I brush him every day and after I am done I always look at him a say, “not much fur came out and u still have a lot of knots.” Then I watched this and realized I don’t have the correct kind of brush nor do I take this long.....😂😅so thank u!

I love love love Samoyed pups, but I do have dog and cat allergies. Can I still have a Samoyed?

It depends on the exact details of your allergy. Many people with "dog" allergies don't have a problem with Samoyeds.

You should keep the fur and turn it into yarn and make a dog mat out of it.

I have 2 males Samoyed (8 months old). Will they shed like yours? U mentioned that your girls have different fur because one is spayed and the other one isn’t. Please explain that. What if I neutered mine? Will they still shed like that?

I'm no expert, but I did some research into that. I learned if you neuter or spay your Samoyed, their fur sheds mitch less than that of the dogs that still have their respective parts to make babies. I don't know oof that's true, but I could definitely see it being true.

linda102380 Yes I am afraid so. My dogs fur depends on the heat and cold. We had 60 feet of snow this winter, the dogs got very furry, now it is summer the they coats are huge, it is a full time job. If you come to my house, dont wear black.

What’s your opinion on whitening shampoos for dogs? Would they work on samoyeds? Love your vids💜

Hi, what age did your two get used to grooming and brushing and accept it with no fuss, my 11 month old still hates it and steals the comb and runs off 🤣🙈
