    I'm probably one of the few who are actually pretty happy with the story for the Loufu arc. There are parts that are not really well placed (I'm looking at you Dan Shu), but the consistency is fine.
    Heck as a lore geek, I pretty much predicted Tingyun being the one smuggling the Stellaron..... but damn I did not expect her NOT to be Tingyun or the neck snap thing (although looking back, Loucha should've been a hint). Also the lore tid bits in the dragon palace are *very* interesting to say the least (yes, I'm looking at you "Bailu").
    I can understand why most people are kinda "confused" in this arc, and I blame Hoyo's decision to just put important clues as miss-able crumbs, but I would say they did put the crumbs for some to piece together, so consistency is not the problem.

    In the current Event we got 1000 Jade (primogems) and in the next Update we can get up to around 2500 Jade +10 free pulls by doing all the new stuff.

      Yeah im playing on a secondary account right now, and before going to the Luofu, Dan Heng talks to Himeko aboard the Astral Express, where they talk about a past he's trying to run from, and how dangerous Blade is. He also has nightmares about Blade, showing more connection to the Luofu, though I haven't noticed much if any sign that he was Vidyadara until it was revealed - save perhaps for March 7th and Dan's jokes about his secret hidden power 2-3 times prior to this.

    12:15 I still have to finish watching the video but I want to say my take about Dan Heng transformation, because I feel like his connection to the Xiangshou Loufu, Blade and his mysterious past were very much established. And March 7th saying if he has a secret power (I don't remember the exact words) was a very big forshadowing lol. I didn't understand him being a Vidihadara or anything about what actually happened, only that he was from the Loufu and that there were unfinished businness and most likely some hidden power. I think they made us enough intrested in the mystery without telling us precisely what was happening and I actually liked it.

    HSR is small, no open world, no exploration. So the repetitiveness catches up really quickly if you keep playing regularly. But it's great for irregular binges after updates, the storytelling is cool. And Hoyo so far seem to keep overzealous dialog writers in check, not much junk to click-scroll through, contrary to Genshin

      Genshin Impact's repetitiveness also catches up really quickly if you aren't playing it completely casually _because_ it's such a vapid and shallow open world that is deliberately designed to be tedious so that way you spend more time playing the game (which is "good for the company's numbers"). But Genshin Impact provides more than Honkai Star Rail does as an overall experience from what I can tell despite its many issues since you have larger areas to experience stories in as well as more content, not to mention that Genshin Impact actually looks good whereas Star Rail does not (seriously, the art designers had a blueprint for a great looking game with Genshin Impact and they couldn't even manage to make the character models look as good as Genshin's, never mind the horrendous HUD/UI elements of the game).

    I hope the Genshin team takes note of all the QoL and endgame stuff that's working so well in _HSR_ , and decides to use it there was well. _Genshin_ could be so much better if only RNG didn't determine so much, and you didn't feel so limiting. These days I just focus on dailies and story, when I want to record it. I've been ignoring Spiral Abyss entirely because it seems like such a pain to go through it.
    As much as _HSR_ has improved over _Genshin_ , and I am thankful that the Honkai team is handling it, I hope they implement more systems and generosity from _Hi3_ . In particular they could use the shops where you can spend in-game currency on fragments for A-rank Support battlesuits to unlock them or rank them up, as well as _HI3_ periodically giving costumes, S-rank battlesuits, and gear as event rewards. _HSR_ 's gacha is a bit improved, especially the lightcone banner, but still pretty far from not having a 50/50 to lose for characters, and being able to gacha a full gear set (although doing gacha for 6 relics and the weapon would take so many resources, I don't think they could do it for a full set. It's much more manageable when the full set is just 3 pieces). And you have consumables that let you reroll substats. We _need_ that in _Genshin_ .

    • @Kazeshini11
      @Kazeshini11 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Ivy-jq6di Funny cause most of HSR players I've seen comment are saying that Genshin is the testing ground for events. They make really bad events in Genshin, then check the feedback, then implement similar events in HSR but make them 10 times better and in the case of the big events, make them permanent so new players can enjoy them no matter when they start.
      So yeah, lots can be said on both sides but until the resin issue is really changed, I don't see why Genshin devs would change anything. Would you change anything if you kept slapping your friend in the face and he kept giving you hundreds or thousands of dollars per month regardless and asks you for another slap ?

    • @jepeman
      @jepeman 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      HSR is much more RNG, since player skill matters very little in combat in the end.
      You can just have bad rolls causing enemy to only target one character and it dies, with nothing you can do about it. Can mitigate it somewhat by spending money.

    • @Kazeshini11
      @Kazeshini11 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jepeman They meant it I'm pretty sure RNG as in the gear and how I believe Genshin's weapon banner for example is a lot less forgiving than HSR's. In Genshin if I got it right you can lose 2 times on getting the weapon you want and only on the third try is it guaranteed. In HSR if you lose the next one is guaranteed.
      Now about the part of needing little skill to play HSR. You haven't played many turn based games I presume ? I see it as this. In Genshin you pretty much mash buttons until everything is dead, rinse and repeat. Nothing wrong with that play style at all. I like to turn my brain off and just mash buttons myself. No brain power needed to do that.
      In HSR, it's a bit like chess with an RNG factor. You have to calculate your skill point usage, manage your HP all the while killing what's trying to kill you while keeping an eye on who is up next and what's the next course of action to take so you can minimize the damage you take and maximize the damage output. Some HSR players will even take up to one minute to decide if they should skill or basic attack depending on the turn order and how it affects the rest of the fight. But hey, to each his own.

    • @jepeman
      @jepeman 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Kazeshini11 HSR is more like checkers with RNG.
      Gacha wise, HSR is better, though I would argue HSR weapons/LCs are more important than in GI and the artifact farming is not much better/worse in HSR with 0 off pieces. Not to mention the gacha power creep in HSR.
      Sure, if you use certain meta teams in GI (whale or long time player), you can button smash. Difference is, you don't need healers or shields to complete Spiral Abyss. Can you do the same in HSR MoC?
      I do enjoy turn based games, like XCOM, Pathfinder Kingmaker & WotR, Baldur's Gate 3, Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2, Wasteland. In those games, you actually have tactical options to avoid being RNG targeted to death.

    While you don't have to play or be familiar with _Honkai Impact 3rd_ to play, understand, or appreciate _Honkai: Star Rail_ , I have to say that it does help a great deal. Not only do you appreciate the character expies more (despite most of them being from the previous game, _GunGirlZ_ ), but _HI3_ does a lot of exploration into the cosmology of the universe / multiverse via theoretical exploration of the Imaginary Tree and the Sea of Quanta. That is, if you can get your head around the dialogue in order to understand it.
    The cosmology isn't expressed with 100% consistency across Mihoyo's games, and that's because they have Unreliable Narrator: We learn about things as characters in the games learn about them, so our understanding of how things work also changes when the characters reveal something new. Like how we all first thought that the Honkai was a purely destructive force, then thought of them as a corrective force, and more recently as a force that seeks to bring humanity closer to the Imaginary, but doesn't know how beyond destruction. These understandings also affect how we understand how stellar travel works, since without that, there's no way to understand how special and powerful the Trailblaze is, allowing our crew to visit other worlds. The same can be said of Herta, of course, as she has collected a windglider from _Genshin_ , a house of cards from _Tears of Themis_ , and the tip shards from _HI3_ Murata Himeko's _Godslayer: Surtur_ greatsword, and put them all on display in her space station. There's a special interaction with the shards if you're using Himeko at the time.
    Captains (players of _HI3_ ) have also been able to appreciate similarities that pop up in _HSR_ since the beginning. Like how Stellarons behave _very_ similarly to the voice of the Honkai by tempting humans to destroy each other, creating what looks like the Herrschers (rulers over concepts), so for example, in the final battle for the Belabog arc, Cocolia rsembles the Herrscher of Ice, and the giant spiked ball she drops is a Herrscher of Rimestar attack. Conceptually, having the Stellarons resemble the Honkai makes sense, since they can travel to different worlds on the Imaginary Tree and in the Sea of Quanta. _Genshin_ has something similar, most notable in the prequel manga with Collei, as the fragments of old gods, and they notably speak the same way the Will of Honkai does in _HI3_ 's prequel manga series.
    In the end, what _HSR_ shows us is that the Honkai can and do manifest differently in a different world. They give us Honkai Beasts, Zombies, and Herrschers in _Hi3_ and _GGZ_ , Stellaron and the Void Legion in _HSR_ , and they'll probably have other forms in upcoming games that live on the Imaginary Tree.
    There's also an interesting question about how Emanators and Aeons scale with other Honkaiverse powers. For the record, there's no question currently that _GGZ_ has the most powerful characters, such as Death herself, who created the Imaginary Tree from the corpse of Zeus. Even the Outer Gods from that game easily far outstrip the most powerful Herrschers from _HI3_ , being an entirely different order of being. On the other end of the scale, _Genshin_ 's Archons seem to be the weakest, since they can't even measure up to the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles, who ended up wiping Khaenri'ah out pretty much single-handedly, and she's based on Herrscher of the Void / God Kiana. I've seen it said that Emanators are roughly on Herrschers' level, and that means that Aeons, despite coming from mortals (sometimes even made by them), and being mortal themselves, are more powerful than Herrschers, and perhaps even more powerful than the Coccoon of Finality that can create Herrschers. That means that _HSR_ already has beings that are considered to be lesser in power than those of _GGZ_ , but greater than those in _HI3_ . I was already scared of what would happen due to powerscaling because of how good the 5-star characters have been so far.

    Gotta say, all of the complaints about the Luofu, aside from pacing (which is entirely subjective but that's fine), basically boil down to "I didn't pay attention to the subtleties of the story and therefore got blindsided". The story literally foreshadowed every single beat of the entire arc from the minute you set foot on the Luofu. Tingyun being what she was, Dan Heng being what he was, the nature of mara and the long-life species, all of it was there. Really wish people would pay attention to what's going on before complaining about things which were completely signposted. When the primary complaint about Genshin's story is that they go into massive amounts of exposition to explain everything, and then the complaint in the Luofu is that they avoided making the exact same mistake again, by subtly incorporating elements into the narrative, it simultaneously tickles me and makes me cringe myself to death when people completely fail to understand the Luofu plot and prove that Genshin maybe wasn't being patronising needlessly after all.

      On top of that they legitimately threw away multiple characters for the sake of shock value: after taking a bunch of time to establish Dan shu and then IMMEDIATELY turn her into a two-bit villain who died with entirely zero fanfare, and Tingyun was such a completely underused character who you only actually interact with for probably 15-20 minutes of the quest, says something suspicious over a text, and is then almost completely irrelevant to the entire rest of the quest until she's used as a cheap death to convince people that the story is amazing just because they killed someone (which they still haven't actually 100% confirmed yet anyway...).

And even if you just assume most players are dumb and "didn't get" it, it still just doesn't work thematically. The ENTIRE shtick of Luofu is about the conflict between Abundance and Hunt, it's what its history is, it's what its current issues are about, it's what affected the main characters in the past, and it's what we spend most of the story exploring... and then we get a random Destruction minion as the main villain? I'm sorry what? How does it tie to anything or anyone thematically? That's right, it doesn't. That's why it feels so shallow and underwhelming.

    I agree with how the luofu started...as we got it in 3 parts. It's design for the first half is pretty bad, but some locations make sense in how they are portrayed....others not so much. Experiencing the luofu closing quest is like a weight of my shoulders, as we get to finally go somewhere new (hopefully) in 1.5.
    The characters personal goals and the transformations have all been explained and hinted at. Except Luocha....I still need concrete answers! And if they're still things you wish to learn more about them or the universe, you got the info tab on characters and the Data Bank....and they still leave questions for Luocha....
    The relic system is much more refined in Star Rail than genshin...still can't wrap my head around it sometimes, 5 pieces and you can get 2...2 (or a 4) sets and a 1....but the one has to be headgear, and they are all grinded from bosses that take forever to kill and if you don't get the piece oh well...leave and come back! Though Star Rail is easy as you need a 4 set (or 2...2 sets) from Cavern of Corrosion (repeatable then and there as long as you got energy) then a separate 2 set from the Sim Verse (which yes you need to reset if you die, but you can get 4 rolls in total. And fighting the echo of war can get you gear pieces, too. And no matter the situation, you can recycle to Legendary Gear (10 pieces) into a piece you might need (ANY PIECE), though stats can still be mostly random. And grinding max level gear locations net you 2 to 3 legendary pieces per run (Sim verse total is 8 pieces).
    At the end of the day, it's easier to get gear you want or need is easier in HSR than GI.

    idk, isn't the Belobog story almost bizarrely simple? Like they barely reveal the immaterial evildoer behind the conflict, which would work in their favour if it werent for how little the proceeding events either make sense, nor veer away from just being a corrupt head of state who you then beat with a completely happenstance and underserved power up when they do. Ultimately what is the substance, maybe it's slated for an eventual pay off when you finally find out what a Stellaron actually is, but having played Genshin I not only doubt it I would wager my entire networth against it.

    Great video! Keep up the good work!
    I gave up on Star Rail part way into the Chinese-Cloud-City questline. Loved the characters, art, environments, story, music, and humor, but the combat drove me absolutely mad.
    For one, difficult fights would really screw you over if you did not bring the correct counter into the fight (often with no way of knowing, such as for a new boss). Did not bring the correct element to break? Get ready to spend the next 10 minutes slogging through the fight... Mobs at least showed you what elements the enemies were.
    But worst of all was the constant, obnoxious, un-skippable dialogue, especially in the longer fights
    "WATCH THIS AWESOME MOVE"
    "RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN"
    "TIME TO TWIRL"
    "WATCH THIS AWESOME MOVE"
    "O STARS, GIVE THESE TRAILBLAZERS YOUR BLESSING"
    "TIME TO TWIRL"
    "RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN"
    "WATCH THIS AWESOME MOVE"
    "IN CASE YOU WERE NOT AWARE, IT IS NOW TIME TO MO**ER**CKING TWIRL"
    over and over and over, with no variation or option to turn it off. I found myself muting the game during combat just to be able to tolerate it, which is a bad sign. I know I could switch to JP or CN voices, but I like being able to understand them in the story.
    Also got burned really bad on the gacha, which did not help... Worst monetization system ever.

    While rewards are more plenty in comparison to Genshin, I think it is important to mention that due to the turn-based combat, they can pump out more characters per patch. With consistent 2 new 5stars every patch, even with increased rewards, it is still less resources available per character than in Genshin. And so far, except maybe Jing Yuan, every 5star has been a gamechanger and abyss carry, so it's not like in genshin, where you can cheese almost everything with some mostly 1.0 4star team.
    Coming from Honkai Impact to Honkai Star Rail will make it feel really difficult to get new characters since in Honkai Impact, there is no 50:50, they alternate between a patch with a free new permanently farmable 4star you can obtain from an event and a patch with a new 5star, so you always have 2 patches worth of time to save for a new 5star. And 1-2 years old 5stars will first become paid battle pass bonuses, then after around 3 years you'll find them permanently farmable for free. The whole game economy is just so much player-friendly than what Star Rail does. Not gonna lie, I was a little sad when I saw that they oriented so much on Genshins gacha system and it's even less resources per character available. But I guess Genshin just worked way too well for them to not use that system as their base.

      Probably because to achieve immortality, you're kinda sacrificing your free will and basically being mara-strucked, which yes you live forever, but can you really call it living? I could understand if it's taboo. Like imagine if you can live forever, but at a cost of losing your free will and getting connected to a hivemind or something. Not to mention mara-struck victims are usually aggressive and mostly act as monsters. Most mara-struck are only left with strong emotions (basically acting only on instincts), although there are a few exceptions, where the mara-struck retains their will (although I have no idea how much they retain or are they corrupted in any other way). That's how I understand it anyways.
      Fu Xuan mentions how being mara-struck A.K.A immortality relates to memories (i can't remember the specifics tho), which can only happens to long life species (which is why Fu Xuan asked the Express gang to disable the alchemy pot or whatever it was called, since we short life species are not effected by it). Hence why they treat immortality as taboo because to them, immortality = mara-struck = losing your free will/ losing control of yourself.
      Fun fact, Blade is also mara-struck, but he manages to retain consciousness only due to Kafka, because she regularly wipes his memories using her ability (mostly that pertains memories that has strong emotions to prevent mara from taking hold)
      I might be wrong on some things as I might have missed new lore or missed out on quests, and stuff, but that's what I understood from it anyways.

    HSR has the better Gacha, weapon/light cone banner is way more generous than Genshins, having a 75/25 rate of giving the lightcone you want. Also the standard 5 star LCs don't suck like most of the Genshin standard weapons. It is also more generous, but in Genshin you get a lot of gems through exploration, that you don't in HSR.
    I dislike relics compared to artifacts though. You have no "off piece", needing 6 "perfect" drops to Genshins 4 and the reroll mechanic is 10/1 compared to Genshins 3/1. I wouldn't really say the EN localizaiton "adds" memes as the original CN script is extremely memey in itself with tones of cultural references to things such as Weibo, which is their equlivant of Twitter, and Alibaba/Aliexpress.
    But since memes, especially cultural memes cannot ever be translated 1:1, EN script has to add its own brand of memes.
    For example, in the Luka companion mission, one of the lines Trailblazer can say regarding Luka is "Bro is just being a bit of a weeb."
    Now in the CN scipt, Trailblazer calls Luka the equlivant of a a Chunibyou, or "eighth grader syndrome". In English, we don't really have a (slang) term for this kind of thing so it's a hard thing to translate without sounding like a computer program. But in Chinese, the term ingame is used in a slightly more memey way, so while "weeb" is technically the wrong word to use, I still think it managed to keep the tone of the scene. But if they wanted to be "accurate", then I feel the term "wannabe" also fits, and makes some sense due to Luka's actions during his quest.

A lot of people around me is playing this, and I actually get it, it has cool shit and funny stuff within the settings and story, and also, the art style/character design, it’s like coriander, if u like it u really do, if u don’t u hate it.(I can’t really describe what it was). Anyways, these are just personal opinions that might be exclusive, but I guess this game, is fun for experiencing rather than actually playing. All the functions and designs for gameplay is, to me, too simplified, and u don’t really NEED to play it with full attention, well that’s what happens to a turn-based game that also has auto battle, now I could be wrong since there are many updates, but as a person who plays Genshin since the first day, this game is too much like its old brother on the initial impression, regardless to its cool ass animation(ult)and more mature characters and story, (the only music I love and able to recall it’s the wildfire of the first finale boss fight) there is nothing for but a start-all-over of Genshin impact SciFic turn-based(which it’s boring to me) version. Indeed starrail is good for its convenient, fast-paced, cool looking animations, perfect for u to play on a transportation to work, or slacking off for a while on work. But I just find it unnecessary to play another version of the same looking and building game😂

    The "cutting up" of the Luofu arc was absolutely annoying. They did their best with how much they cut it up, but it was so bad. Sure, they may have deliberately done that because they found out how fast people gobbled up the first "chapter" of the game, but man did it not make everything just disconnected because of how long each "piece" was released. The story itself was fine, it was far darker and much more political, deep, and foreboding, but there isn't any sort of catharsis (yet) to be found anywhere.
    They need to fix this problem. I know the way HSR is designed is fundamentally flawed if paired up with Hoyo's "Theme Park" type of content loop, but they'll need to fix it if they are really intending to inflate the engagement more.
    But hey, it's like in the Top 5 most grossing gacha gemus (atleast in the iOS front), so who am I kidding?

    dude, i LOVE the loufu's story so far. the connection between long-life species and mara wasnt EXPLICITLY stated for a good portion of the currently released story, but my autistic pattern recognition spotted that shit from a mile away. also there DEFINITELY was foreshadowing for dan heng. march was making jokes about his "secret strength" in BELOBOG. not to mention blade's "of five, three must pay the price" thing. there's so much foreshadowing of dan hengs whole deal and all of the high cloud quintet's deals. we just havent seen the whole story pan out because the loufu's story isnt DONE yet.
    and like, i understand why the story left off on that cliffhanger. it's because this game is constantly mid-development. that's like. the whole point. the whole allure. that feeling of "oh my god a new update is out! i gotta see what happens next!" that you get when it updates. like, you wouldnt shame an author of a manga for not writing the whole damn story in one volume, right? i get that its not everyones cup of tea to have a game where the story comes in bits and pieces, but its not "bad writing" if you werent paying attention.
    this isnt me trying to be mean to you or something. i just felt like your grasp of whats going on in the loufu is a little lacking. which is probably because they put important stroy things in character quests and world quests. but they did that in belobog and herta space station and nobody complained. idk im a lore frog so i interact with everything and do all the quests and read all the little scraps of paper in my inventory. so my grasp of the story might be better than most peoples'. but its not a "bad" story. you just have to actively look for the parts of it youre interested in.

    God, what is it with Hoyo always forcing you to be always online for their singleplayer games, just because of their monetization model? Why can't they just make it a buy to play game and be done with it? Guess I'll wait until the game story is finished and play it all over a couple of weeks without spending any money just like I plan to do with Genshin.

      With Chinese market, they tend to pirate the game and no anti piracy will help so a free to play model was more suitable for Chinese market.
      So. Hoyoverse came from china so they have to tap the Chinese market before the international market.

      That's how literally every gacha on Earth has worked since the Japanese invented them in the early 2010s. The first ones were only playable in web browsers. Mihoyo don't make single player games because this model makes them more money, and also because it turns out it's a hard sell to investors to say "give us a billion dollars to take seven years to make a game that might not profit". Gacha games also don't end - they just stop, when they stop making money.

      @@BlackGateofMordor That's the point. I hate everything they forced into the game to make it a gacha, when it would be way better as a singleplayer game. Like the way the upgrade system works and that you have systems on top of systems competing on which annoys me the most.
      That's why I refused to put a single cent into Genshin and stopped playing when I realised that it takes months to get a new character to a usable level because of it. And that's even before taking RNG Artifacts into the equation.
      With the exploration and combat it could've been a really great game, if not every character progression system was built upon mobile game mechanics! It's one of the few games I would've considered actually paying 60EUR to buy if it was playable offline, but because they decided to build it all around a slot machine with forced online connection, they got no money from me and never will!

      @@skyknight0408 online connection is important for your account to save progression. if genshin an offline game, you'll have to make space triple or more than it already is. the game will too be big for an offline game(mobile game).
      For the gacha, just don't pay money on it? If you don't want to get drunk and drive home, just don't drink alcohol and go home🤔 you know when you're home you can finally get drunk, just wait and farm like normal people.

    • @skyknight0408
      @skyknight0408 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@longbread There are already games that use more than tripple the space. And no, being offline wouldn't need more space, because the world, the NPCs, the dialouge and the cutscenes are already saved on your device. You'd just have to manually save instead of relying on server based progression and there would be no need for servers or an account at all, so it would save the costs for those things.
      It also shouldn't be a mobile game at all but a regular PC game.
      And I don't care for the gacha part itself, but all the mechanics that accompany it because it's gacha:
      The fact that the enemies scale to your level instead of fighting stronger enemies to level up, the fact that farming every piece of upgrade material is time gated and can only be done on specific days of the week(and it's all the same boring arena), unless you just buy it from the shop and that because of those things, getting a new character to a playable state can take weeks or even months. The daily comissions and resin system that are only there to artifically stretch the game time and lore/character progression that gets put into (missable)time limited events. All of those mechanics make the game less fun. They are the reason I stopped playing.
      I never drink or drive and neither would I ever pay for a game that is full of mobile mechanics.
      Be honest, the game would be way more fun if it was offline and all content constantly in the game to do whenever you want. I would seriously pay money for an offline game like that, without all of those terrible mechanics that always come with a gacha!

    The Loufu story was fine. The main issue... I guess... is that the story rap up rather than being part of the story quest, is the many character stories. I'm not certain how they could have inserted Dan Shu's story line into the story without it feeling out of place. There could have been a way, but what she represents naturally makes her difficult to fit in. She can't really do a lot in the story without revealing her position as the leader of Sanctus Medicus cult. And Bailu's intro seems out of place, but sets up further interaction that fleshes her out well in the story quests. Her quick intro was enough to set things up without another Dan Shu story problem.
    I think the arc finished up since this video, so its easier to see what was missed, but it also suffered from trying to establish the villain side through a character that in unable to be added to the action because it removed from the humanizing factor of her character and then they save the reason why she is wrong until after her she is established which is placed near the end. It makes sense why the issue exists... but doesn't exactly change it was executed poorly... though I'm not exactly sure what a good execution of this concept would look like.
