I think Aether's stamina is slightly lower given it's super easy to drown him if you swim out to the island at the beginning. Lumine has no trouble getting there.
@@songsayswhat sadly you're wrong Aether it's actually faster in sprinting and climbing than Lumine even if they both have the same stamina bar and the reason why is because body types like tall male characters like Diluc and Zhongli are faster than tall female characters like Jean and ningguang and this is the same thing with medium male characters like Aether and medium female like Lumine and also fun fact characters with child like body types like klee and Qiqi are actually slower than medium and tall characters and I'm not pretty knowledgeable about the swimming part so sorry if I cannot answer that.

Two years ago i recommended it to my friend. A year later i was still recommending it but with caution. Now i don't recommend it anymore and never will. I still play the game though, what a pain..
The best example of story being exclusive in events is Albedo's events... Like his actual story quest is terrible but his event quests were amazing. However, many people were unable to get the bunch of lore that came with it (myself included) so...

Albedo is an insanely well written character, but everything is stuck behind temporary events... so if you didn't play the events, you don't understand why he's acting the way he is after. I'm so upset everytime I think about it, important event with heavy lore dumps should be available to play even if you missed the original... I understand that it might not have flown with the archon quests but come on, with the amount of story dumped in crucial events like these should at least be one of the side quests like the Aranara quest line (minus the storyline being forced in order ti unlock new areas of a region) where, players might get mad about how they're too long and take up too much of their time, but having the payout of the good storyline making up for that fact and actual insight into a character and their interactions. When i first started playing genshin, i was expecting to go to the golden apple archipelago and have a chunibyo-fest with Fischl. i was super disappointed when he found out i was about 52 million years late. When i first started the combat system for real, i was expecting huge numbers of crit. I was so innocent and pure, i had no idea about artifacts or anything.. 😭😭😭
We all started out inocent and pure in the begining. I personally liked it. I enjoyed the game way more before I knew how important resen was for progression. There was a level of freshnes I managed in my years of playing to only re-experience when summeru dropped. Since not only new region with a story that says mihoyo do be reading our feedback. There was also a new element to learn. And honestly I still am learning how it works. My respects towards those who can look up to every update and be exited for something else than the likely primogem count they can get if they do every event story side quest exploration and achivement. I wish I was in your place.
Really. As a new, player who was looking up to the game from the release date, but never had the time to jump in until recently, I knew that fleeting content was a possibility. And yet I still had to suppress the urge to quit instantly when I realized that some characters don't even have the introduction outside of events that are long gone by now. It just doesn't make sense. You're selling people on the chance to gamble for those, why do you deny them the possibility to fell in love with these characters? Isn't that, like, I don't know, THE BASE OF YOUR MONETIZATION MODEL!? Not to mention, that the world feels pretty empty without those stories (I'm looking at you, Dragonspine. One story quest that isn't even a complete story in itself clearly isn't enough for the whole new region)
Then you have to start playing the REAL gacha BS. Dumping 1000 artifacts into the strongbox to get ONE SINGLE EM GOBLET for Kazuha after months of farming and getting bent over by maidens beloved and crap RNG.
Nah, I don't know. For me, gambling is not really a thing in this game. At this point, I simply "forget" about the gacha until I have enough to win the desired character with the guaranteed pity. So there is no thrill and no disappointment, just math. Instead, I focus on the game itself, and let me tell you, playing from the release date, there is still much to enjoy for me.
I agree and this is exactly how I handle the gacha and how everyone should. I never understood about people complaining about the gacha system,just save up for a couple months and you can guarantee a character you want. Its not that hard to do. Or maybe because they just want every character in the game?
Easy, i pull when i accumulated enough 50 pulls, then whichever character i get i will just accept and build it. I play this game because i wanted to delve into the lore and stories, getting characters is just side business.
f2p since the beginning here. I just roll with the RNG, but I do think about what characters I would I need for the good team and hence choose banners. Never felt that urge to get something no matter what

I have to agree with this, and another point is: The good main story is locked behind ~45 hours of avg playtime, so even when you start now, you will still have to play a lot over the next 2 weeks to get to a point where you really want to play more of the story. Also resin is something else, i managed to spend my resin for the last month to 100%, but it's still never enough, and now i have to farm talent mats in the worst talent domain for lisa...
Diona Shield, Noele Shield + Cristalize Reaction, Guoba, Baron Bunny. Ignore VVShred. Just tank cryo damage and dont use dash. (Ningguang can help with loads of Crystalize). Keep melting. I'm doing the same right now...but wow, Layla came to grab on the event, at lvl 70 with fair investment the shield can tank a good portion of the icebergs falling over your head. best, real action, is Amber charged Shots (against the slimes), because of the frost air they release close to them, nerfing xiangling & bennet. Keep your distance (Yanfei may stuck you on normal attack animation but if you manage, another viable) ... Yoimiya is just... Whale.
While I believe that your point about the main story is spot on, I also don't feel like the story being locked behind hours of side content is a big deal. Meaning that if someone is playing Genshin only for the story then he/she is missing half the fun anyway. Genshin tries very hard to appeal to almost everybody by offering a very diverse set of activities to engage in. But exploration is for sure one of the main ones and the one that the game tries to encourge the most, by making it the center around which the whole primogems economy revolves around (at least for free to play gamers). That is: from the perspective of gameplay, the player should think of the story as of a way to break the unfocused exploration of the open world and not the other way around. If a player doesn't like to get lost while exploring the world, or if he doesn't feel the urge to let his curiosity take over and push him to deviate from the path in order to find out what's in the cave whose entrance he just discovered or on the top of the hill he stands next to, then his Genshin experience will probably feel somewhat blander. I'm not saying that's the "one true way" to play the game, but only that the gameplay epxerience seems to be optimized for people that enjoy this kind of exploration, while the story and the lore provide the context that makes that kind of exploration meaningful on top of the virtual currency rewards.

Bring that feel of Hardcore gameplay of Skyrim, when you just "take your time" on the main quest, and just go nuts around all the province, checking everything; and praying specific respawns to have fun and recycle more materials for more coin. - Even cheats exists for being single player, and mods to "tweak the personal economy" (although there is more life with barter perk skill to invest on NPCs on core-game) ... but cheating isnt fun - balancing a game with own devs on the plan is more party time then just "genius shark". [Genshin though, leaves you empty handed, to recycle resources. Since practically most of the items only convert themselves to thrash, not Mora or something. What is used are artifacts only, they are a chance drop of some enemies, and with Artifact XP on demand to roll better rolls and equip the characters... you barely recycle them to Mora] ... in the end, each game their own unique approach...but come on, let us be fair: Exploration demands recycling. Chests barely give the unique T3 weapons they spawned on the start. Very rare specific chests appear to respawn in a bug of new patches. And new regions again locked the unique T3 weapons... It gets tiring, because of life consuming, but on early months of Tower of Fantasy, they do respawn their content so is better exploration based. ... Well, about Story Oriented Players only, i dont know... feels odd to care about story only not exploration, they merge together in a sense. 2 nice comments. like this ^^
It is to be noted though, the traveler is not entirely a "blank slate". Your dialogue options are restricted because the MC has consistent predispositions and values. This is further emphasized when you check out their voicelines in the dialogue menu.

11:15 I’ve always thought that the electro element is super prominent in inazuma because the archon has huge power over the nation. mondstadt and liyue inhabitants honour their gods by pure faith and personal choice, while inazumans are under the incessant control of the raiden shogun. she is present in their everyday lives and no one can escape her. the landscape simply reflects this: the environment feels eerie and ultimately dictatorial, dangerous, suffocating, inhospital.

I LOVE GENSHIN, and I genuinely think its the best game ever for me, but I don't recommend it to anyone who are not willing to commit to it. There's literally so much things to do if you start in the current version that it can be very overwhelming for players who doesn't want to deep dive in it. But if they do, its gonna be a game that would be a part of their life like how it became a part of me as well ♥️

I’ve been playing Genshin since it came out. I’m warning you once you play it you can’t go back. I originally started playing because I saw it as a BotW clone (which it isn’t) and played it to make fun of it. It is now my favorite game. While I literally have merch for the game and stuff there is still stuff wrong with it and I wouldn’t recommend it to people.
Remember that the choice between Aether and Lumine does affect dialog during certain world and story quests. In particular during the Dirge of Bilqis quest chain where it became a bit more... cozy with Lumine. I don't regret that choice.
Before I watch: The main reason why I quit Genshin was because of its promise of fun combat simply not being upheld. I'm not sure if I would have stuck around in the first place if they hadn't enticed me with fun combat, but the problem is that Genshin's combat is pretty deep and CAN be fun. They just choose not to do it, what with the decision to not have endgame content, and the not-so-good enemy designs (as in their movesets, not their visuals). The only thing Genshin has imo is good exploration, good visuals, and good music. Its story is decent but if you don't care about how it looks and sounds, then the story itself can't save it. I'm not that interested in visuals and music, and the exploration is "go spend half the time spam clicking so that you can skip the story and the other half of the time actually exploring" (and doesn't even have the courtesy of telling you when a puzzle is currently incompletable and you need to do some side story first), so that's why I quit. It was disappointing that it had promise but chose not to fulfil it. What's more, they decided to fix Kokomi's walk on water glitch in one update, when Sara, Mona, Yanfei, and prolly more who I can't remember were still bugged since release. Also, not wanting to add endgame because players could get stressed out trying to complete it is the most BS excuse ever for a gacha game.
The game is not bad at all, in fact it’s very good. The monetization model will obviously raise some concerns but ultimately you aren’t required to spend a dime to play the game.
People have even cleared abyss with only the 8 basic characters that you get for free, although not 36 stars. This game IS easy, whoever says this is p2w lost the plot.
Great advice in the summary, honestly. It's always worth warning people that as cool as this game is, you should avoid it if you're the kind of person to like a character so much you spend hundreds of dollars on their signature weapon, while knowing the math that it's only like 10% better than free shit. Which is something I've seen *many* people do, and it's not even close to the point that gets you named a gacha whale in this community.
The title sums up pretty much everything, also the ending is epic! You really need a self control everytime new character is out, either saving from daily, maybe buy a welkin, BUT NEVER BUY THE GEMS DIRECTLY
I can only ever recommend Genshin to my friends (especially non-Gacha friends) w/ the heavy caveat of "This is one of the best F2P games out right now... BUT YOU NEED TO BE SOMEONE WHO WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY FOMO." If you're the type of person who needs to have everyone, or wants someone and will drop money to get them, then GTFO of all gacha titles. If you're not someone who's bothered by not getting their favourite character and setting aside X currency to guarantee getting them the next time around? Go for it. It's an absurd amount of free content that's generally pretty fun.

I go through moods with this game so much, where i love and hate it, but ever since Fontaine released the archon quests have been so good and the characters are so cool I love the game a lot. I haven't missed a day in 3 years always doing resin, every event and commisions still. Best game ever that I can't get away from.
This game is perfectly fine for the f2p player. The only problem anyone might have is the same kind of problem an obese person might have with walking past a cake shop. (ie. insisting on possessing the promoted banner characters, even tho they are unnecessary)
In this analogy, then, the cake shop has paid the city to make the general vicinity's architecture draw people's eyes to the cake shop, drawing on the research of professional psychologists. There is no two ways about it: the game is _designed_ to manipulate you into spending - even if it's more subtle about it than other gatcha games.

Agree , I play the game a little bit longer than a year and now I got 10 5-Star characters and 30 4-Star characters. It's not very hard to achieve that as a free to player, even if you play sometimes just 30 minutes daily.

Yeah, honestly, I've been playing since launch and the grind of leveling all your characters gets insane when you've got a ton of them to babysit, so I'm very selective with new ones at this point. And I only spent $25 on the game (welkin moon each month the first 5 months the game was out) after which I haven't been spending and I still have plenty of 5* and especially 4* characters that need leveling and artifacts.

When I first installed *Genshin Impact* , I quit immediately because it didn't support Y-axis invert (such a simple thing yet so unimaginably difficult to implement). A year later after mostly playing *Breath of the Wild* exhaustively, I found out Y-axis invert _exists_ when using controller. So my journey began. Now as with most veteran players, my daily activities are the usual commissions, BP, resin and artifact investigate farming. But despite the grind I'm still at it purely because the elemental combat system is _so fun_ . Just like how I couldn't get enough of bomb-jumping with Link, I can't get enough of elemental reactions and team combos. New characters keep twisting the gameplay and make things interesting/refreshing. I deliberately progress them slowly, keeping them low level so I can learn their mechanics and try out different team synergies. As a gacha game it definitely has a lot of ills but the amount of varied gameplay I'm getting out of it probably second only to *World of Warcraft* (back then).
Not speedrunning the character build (or anything else in the game in general) really makes for a better experience. Slowly building the character for example opens you to explore other possibilities and roles for them in a team and ways for them to get away without big numbers early on. Also helps extend their playtime and minimises the frustration from artifact RNG. Almost all the characters i have from 4 to 5 stars are raised like this and every time I tried out like 4-5 teams with each of them at every level progression. It feels good to have a collections of characters you actually played and experimented yourself instead of just collectibles.

i have literally only used 3 5 stars with lvl 50 4 star character characters. its a great game that tests your patience, with amazing music and beautiful scenery, i'd reccomend it to anyone with an attention spam of more than 3 minutes

Love this video!!! Guys, even as a f2p: you can log so many hours in Genshin if you find yourself incapable of being normal about the gacha. It can become chore like. Only do what sparks joy, and anything else can go to dust.
Regarding the electro +dendro reaction, last time i check, my neighbor mango tree still charcoal black after got zapped by lighting and not "energized" instead.
I'd argue that because Genshin has a pity system where you know exactly how many wishes it will take to get a character in the worst case scenario, it's not actually gambling.... that's only on the five stars though. For four stars it's a total crapshoot. Thankfully most of the best ones are on the starglitter shop rotation so you can get constellations on them over time eventually.
As a F2P, I have grinded so much I have almost ~71% (in most, Mondstadt is almost 100) exploration in all regions, and I only have like, 8 (not including traveler) 5 stars after playing for two years.
Been playing for 1 year. I started during kazuha banner took couple months break. I absolutely hate this game, but i also enjoy it. This is one game that makes my head argue against itself

Fun fact, there is another difference between the siblings. Aether has a slightly higher defense stat and Lumine has a higher attack stat
Also the way they attack means that Lumine actually deals more damage over time than Aether.

My respects towards those who can look up to every update and be exited for something else than the likely primogem count they can get if they do every event story side quest exploration and achivement. I wish I was in your place.
Really. As a new, player who was looking up to the game from the release date, but never had the time to jump in until recently, I knew that fleeting content was a possibility. And yet I still had to suppress the urge to quit instantly when I realized that some characters don't even have the introduction outside of events that are long gone by now.
It just doesn't make sense. You're selling people on the chance to gamble for those, why do you deny them the possibility to fell in love with these characters? Isn't that, like, I don't know, THE BASE OF YOUR MONETIZATION MODEL!? Not to mention, that the world feels pretty empty without those stories (I'm looking at you, Dragonspine. One story quest that isn't even a complete story in itself clearly isn't enough for the whole new region)
Then you have to start playing the REAL gacha BS. Dumping 1000 artifacts into the strongbox to get ONE SINGLE EM GOBLET for Kazuha after months of farming and getting bent over by maidens beloved and crap RNG.
Nah, I don't know. For me, gambling is not really a thing in this game. At this point, I simply "forget" about the gacha until I have enough to win the desired character with the guaranteed pity. So there is no thrill and no disappointment, just math. Instead, I focus on the game itself, and let me tell you, playing from the release date, there is still much to enjoy for me.
I agree and this is exactly how I handle the gacha and how everyone should. I never understood about people complaining about the gacha system,just save up for a couple months and you can guarantee a character you want. Its not that hard to do. Or maybe because they just want every character in the game?

Easy, i pull when i accumulated enough 50 pulls, then whichever character i get i will just accept and build it. I play this game because i wanted to delve into the lore and stories, getting characters is just side business.
f2p since the beginning here. I just roll with the RNG, but I do think about what characters I would I need for the good team and hence choose banners. Never felt that urge to get something no matter what

Well, about combat drama, i can understand, but i do wanna say, think about it like this, genshin is not forcing anyone to spend on characters if they want to, they are giving good amount of resources for free already, u just have to spend time, and from the point of developers, i can understand bcoz they put efforts into it, and so obviously they want your time, but some kids start talking about GACHA this and that. sigh
Well, think like this, Genshin is like a mix of bag with almost everything in its own, and ik it cant be perfect, but i want to know if its not close to perfect in real sense.. they do keep asking combat more and more, but they do need to understand one point that they are focusing on almost everything- such good OSTs, graphics, open world exploration, good character designs, unique story plot, lore, beautiful locations (themes), different mechanisms, and like wht this creator said ik COMBAT of genshin has soo much potential, but well, they need talented ppl like that too to enhance it more, and they are doing too but, it will take time, considering such a large project focused mainly on F2P players.
i love playing games and well i can still say there is no game out there which is called GACHA but its still not all about Gacha, its like mix of bag from every concept, combat based games will only focus mainly on combat, not on other perspectives.

I have to agree with this, and another point is: The good main story is locked behind ~45 hours of avg playtime, so even when you start now, you will still have to play a lot over the next 2 weeks to get to a point where you really want to play more of the story.
Also resin is something else, i managed to spend my resin for the last month to 100%, but it's still never enough, and now i have to farm talent mats in the worst talent domain for lisa...
Diona Shield, Noele Shield + Cristalize Reaction, Guoba, Baron Bunny. Ignore VVShred. Just tank cryo damage and dont use dash. (Ningguang can help with loads of Crystalize). Keep melting. I'm doing the same right now...but wow, Layla came to grab on the event, at lvl 70 with fair investment the shield can tank a good portion of the icebergs falling over your head.

While I believe that your point about the main story is spot on, I also don't feel like the story being locked behind hours of side content is a big deal. Meaning that if someone is playing Genshin only for the story then he/she is missing half the fun anyway.
Genshin tries very hard to appeal to almost everybody by offering a very diverse set of activities to engage in. But exploration is for sure one of the main ones and the one that the game tries to encourge the most, by making it the center around which the whole primogems economy revolves around (at least for free to play gamers).
That is: from the perspective of gameplay, the player should think of the story as of a way to break the unfocused exploration of the open world and not the other way around.
If a player doesn't like to get lost while exploring the world, or if he doesn't feel the urge to let his curiosity take over and push him to deviate from the path in order to find out what's in the cave whose entrance he just discovered or on the top of the hill he stands next to, then his Genshin experience will probably feel somewhat blander.
I'm not saying that's the "one true way" to play the game, but only that the gameplay epxerience seems to be optimized for people that enjoy this kind of exploration, while the story and the lore provide the context that makes that kind of exploration meaningful on top of the virtual currency rewards.

- Even cheats exists for being single player, and mods to "tweak the personal economy" (although there is more life with barter perk skill to invest on NPCs on core-game) ... but cheating isnt fun - balancing a game with own devs on the plan is more party time then just "genius shark".
[Genshin though, leaves you empty handed, to recycle resources. Since practically most of the items only convert themselves to thrash, not Mora or something. What is used are artifacts only, they are a chance drop of some enemies, and with Artifact XP on demand to roll better rolls and equip the characters... you barely recycle them to Mora] ... in the end, each game their own unique approach...but come on, let us be fair: Exploration demands recycling. Chests barely give the unique T3 weapons they spawned on the start. Very rare specific chests appear to respawn in a bug of new patches. And new regions again locked the unique T3 weapons... It gets tiring, because of life consuming, but on early months of Tower of Fantasy, they do respawn their content so is better exploration based.
... Well, about Story Oriented Players only, i dont know... feels odd to care about story only not exploration, they merge together in a sense.

It is to be noted though, the traveler is not entirely a "blank slate". Your dialogue options are restricted because the MC has consistent predispositions and values. This is further emphasized when you check out their voicelines in the dialogue menu.

11:15 I’ve always thought that the electro element is super prominent in inazuma because the archon has huge power over the nation. mondstadt and liyue inhabitants honour their gods by pure faith and personal choice, while inazumans are under the incessant control of the raiden shogun. she is present in their everyday lives and no one can escape her. the landscape simply reflects this: the environment feels eerie and ultimately dictatorial, dangerous, suffocating, inhospital.
4/6 islands have something majorly wrong with them. all 6 if you count Enkanomiya and world quests

I LOVE GENSHIN, and I genuinely think its the best game ever for me, but I don't recommend it to anyone who are not willing to commit to it. There's literally so much things to do if you start in the current version that it can be very overwhelming for players who doesn't want to deep dive in it. But if they do, its gonna be a game that would be a part of their life like how it became a part of me as well ♥️

I’ve been playing Genshin since it came out. I’m warning you once you play it you can’t go back. I originally started playing because I saw it as a BotW clone (which it isn’t) and played it to make fun of it. It is now my favorite game. While I literally have merch for the game and stuff there is still stuff wrong with it and I wouldn’t recommend it to people.
When you Genshin you can't Genshout
Remember that the choice between Aether and Lumine does affect dialog during certain world and story quests. In particular during the Dirge of Bilqis quest chain where it became a bit more... cozy with Lumine. I don't regret that choice.
Before I watch:
The main reason why I quit Genshin was because of its promise of fun combat simply not being upheld. I'm not sure if I would have stuck around in the first place if they hadn't enticed me with fun combat, but the problem is that Genshin's combat is pretty deep and CAN be fun. They just choose not to do it, what with the decision to not have endgame content, and the not-so-good enemy designs (as in their movesets, not their visuals).
The only thing Genshin has imo is good exploration, good visuals, and good music. Its story is decent but if you don't care about how it looks and sounds, then the story itself can't save it. I'm not that interested in visuals and music, and the exploration is "go spend half the time spam clicking so that you can skip the story and the other half of the time actually exploring" (and doesn't even have the courtesy of telling you when a puzzle is currently incompletable and you need to do some side story first), so that's why I quit. It was disappointing that it had promise but chose not to fulfil it. What's more, they decided to fix Kokomi's walk on water glitch in one update, when Sara, Mona, Yanfei, and prolly more who I can't remember were still bugged since release.
Also, not wanting to add endgame because players could get stressed out trying to complete it is the most BS excuse ever for a gacha game.
The game is not bad at all, in fact it’s very good. The monetization model will obviously raise some concerns but ultimately you aren’t required to spend a dime to play the game.

Great advice in the summary, honestly. It's always worth warning people that as cool as this game is, you should avoid it if you're the kind of person to like a character so much you spend hundreds of dollars on their signature weapon, while knowing the math that it's only like 10% better than free shit. Which is something I've seen *many* people do, and it's not even close to the point that gets you named a gacha whale in this community.

You really need a self control everytime new character is out, either saving from daily, maybe buy a welkin, BUT NEVER BUY THE GEMS DIRECTLY

I can only ever recommend Genshin to my friends (especially non-Gacha friends) w/ the heavy caveat of "This is one of the best F2P games out right now... BUT YOU NEED TO BE SOMEONE WHO WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY FOMO." If you're the type of person who needs to have everyone, or wants someone and will drop money to get them, then GTFO of all gacha titles. If you're not someone who's bothered by not getting their favourite character and setting aside X currency to guarantee getting them the next time around? Go for it. It's an absurd amount of free content that's generally pretty fun.

I go through moods with this game so much, where i love and hate it, but ever since Fontaine released the archon quests have been so good and the characters are so cool I love the game a lot. I haven't missed a day in 3 years always doing resin, every event and commisions still. Best game ever that I can't get away from.
This game is perfectly fine for the f2p player. The only problem anyone might have is the same kind of problem an obese person might have with walking past a cake shop. (ie. insisting on possessing the promoted banner characters, even tho they are unnecessary)
In this analogy, then, the cake shop has paid the city to make the general vicinity's architecture draw people's eyes to the cake shop, drawing on the research of professional psychologists. There is no two ways about it: the game is _designed_ to manipulate you into spending - even if it's more subtle about it than other gatcha games.

It's not very hard to achieve that as a free to player, even if you play sometimes just 30 minutes daily.

Yeah, honestly, I've been playing since launch and the grind of leveling all your characters gets insane when you've got a ton of them to babysit, so I'm very selective with new ones at this point. And I only spent $25 on the game (welkin moon each month the first 5 months the game was out) after which I haven't been spending and I still have plenty of 5* and especially 4* characters that need leveling and artifacts.

When I first installed *Genshin Impact* , I quit immediately because it didn't support Y-axis invert (such a simple thing yet so unimaginably difficult to implement). A year later after mostly playing *Breath of the Wild* exhaustively, I found out Y-axis invert _exists_ when using controller. So my journey began.
Now as with most veteran players, my daily activities are the usual commissions, BP, resin and artifact investigate farming. But despite the grind I'm still at it purely because the elemental combat system is _so fun_ . Just like how I couldn't get enough of bomb-jumping with Link, I can't get enough of elemental reactions and team combos. New characters keep twisting the gameplay and make things interesting/refreshing. I deliberately progress them slowly, keeping them low level so I can learn their mechanics and try out different team synergies.
As a gacha game it definitely has a lot of ills but the amount of varied gameplay I'm getting out of it probably second only to *World of Warcraft* (back then).
Not speedrunning the character build (or anything else in the game in general) really makes for a better experience. Slowly building the character for example opens you to explore other possibilities and roles for them in a team and ways for them to get away without big numbers early on. Also helps extend their playtime and minimises the frustration from artifact RNG. Almost all the characters i have from 4 to 5 stars are raised like this and every time I tried out like 4-5 teams with each of them at every level progression. It feels good to have a collections of characters you actually played and experimented yourself instead of just collectibles.

I'd argue that because Genshin has a pity system where you know exactly how many wishes it will take to get a character in the worst case scenario, it's not actually gambling.... that's only on the five stars though. For four stars it's a total crapshoot. Thankfully most of the best ones are on the starglitter shop rotation so you can get constellations on them over time eventually.

As a F2P, I have grinded so much I have almost ~71% (in most, Mondstadt is almost 100) exploration in all regions, and I only have like, 8 (not including traveler) 5 stars after playing for two years.
