Its a very good shield specially in pvp since it is immune to status build up however in pve a +5 crystal towershield will outclass it in terms of stability.
A couple of things. The lifehunt scythe self bleed can be offset with blood moss, the bloodshield, and the bloodbite ring. And a very peculiar note about the dragon slayer spear is that the kick while holding it does drastically more stamina damage than the kick while using other weapons.
Not gonna defend Gwyn greatsword, but it can be used for minmaxing since the scaling sucks.... but at that point you may aswell use Kalameet's Greatsword
That was funny af when you turned around and you were wearing the huge ass xanthous crown but we couldn’t even see it because Smough’s big ass hammer was covering half the screen 😂
With other souls games, I’m usually wrong when I try to guess #1 on people’s lists. With DS1, the best boss weapon is a no brainer. It’s already god-tier, and then it proceeds to reward you for playing well and not dying. It’s absolutely menacing.
1:15 "squish" "and that's how you make pancakes" -Youwy the disrespect he put on my boy black knight is unforgivable that would have my eyes cartoonishly popping out of my skull
The Life Hunt Scythe is my main weapon since combine with bloodbite ring the bleed isn't that bothersome as you'll kill the boss or enemies before it activates or fills up
Also there is a Shield in the painted world that increases bleed build up even further if the bloodbite ring isn't enough or you need an extra ring slot
As I’m a tail cut completionist my personal fav for getting them all is the regular black knight greatsword, can get Priscillas with one hit and the guardian in one hit and it’s the only one I’ve been able to get kalameet cuts with.
I may or may not have invaded with the Number One on this list back in the days of no PvP balancing. And I can't see anything wrong with the placements! Boss weapons really weren't amazing overall if we're not counting tails.
for the scythe Bloodbite Ring and Bloodshield exist and you can't say no outside factors because you literally use the Weed Shield and mentioned buffs during golem fist.
I’ve never understood why the sword you get from a final boss isn’t an absolutely amazing weapon. The coiled greatsword in ds3 is decent but generally underwhelming. I wish they made sure those swords were awesome 😢
I watch your ER videos but found this video a lot more interesting than Elden Ring videos because ER has so many hyper destructive weapons with the switchable AOW system that getting into what is best seems a bit less meaningful wheras with the previous entries, most weapons are clumped together in the range between almost viable to comfortably viable with few going overboard in either direction and all the weapons have their unique kit, unchangeble AOW and unique problems and strengths for better or worse which makes for much richer content for analysis. Some ideas: 1. Ranking of all UGS in DS3 (so many of the UGS are absolutely different from any other UGS in fundamental ways while still being viable). 2. Best bows/great bows/crossbows in DS2 (bows and their design were paid the most attention in this game with an entire late stage area almost intended to be done with a bow - shrine of Amana)
Cursed greatsword can be supa op in both pvp and pve if you know the timings of the moves and is just brain dead fun since you get almost the entire moveset of boss artorias. It should have been higher
do a vid about ur favorite build for each souls game. really like that ur covering the other games too since thay havnt gotten as much yt love as elden ring
The artorias cursed sword has c scaling in str dex int and faith so it ends up doing crazy damage for me Idk why he said there’s no scaling for int and faith
Noticed you didn't include the Gravelord Greatsword which I think counts since you recieve it from Nito and it can only be upgraded with demon titanite.
Please do best weapon of demon souls remake, dark souls1, dark souls 2, bloodborne, dark souls 3, sekiro (the tools), elden ring (all the soulsborne saga) and armored core 6
I keept all the bosses souls for half my playtrough just to see this video and realize that all of them suck and I just kept them for no reason, now the souls I ger from them are completely devaluated 😢
You should do this for DS3. The answer is obvious, at least for PvP. The frayed goddamn blade. You have an offensive weapon art, a defensive weapon art, AND an animation cancel for R1 attacks, which no other katana in the game had. You could even cancel into backstep attack, which lead to INSANE running poke chasedowns when executed perfectly. You gotta talk about how much of a beast it was. The cancel added a skill ceiling to it that wasn’t really seen on other weapons. I wish my computer wasn’t ass, so I could’ve recorded every retarded pseudo-combo I’ve gotten with the fucker.
I'd put both spears (and the crytal ring shield) below the Great Lord Greatsword, they suck. The Great Lord GS is generic but still the hardest hitting GS for dex builds and it has modest stat requirements compared to most boss weapons.
To be honest, most of the boss soul weapons in this game don't appeal to me. Quelaag, however has two of the best. The Furysword for it's awesome fire effect, and the Chaos Blade for being amazing. I avoided the Chaos Blade for the longest time because I didn't like the idea of taking damage each swing. However, in my most recent playthrough I went all in on it and it turned out to be an excellent weapon. First off, damage can be mitigated with the Ring Of The Evil Eye. Even without it though, as long as you have even halfway decent health, it is easily dealt with by popping Estus. And since it's not hard to easily be rocking twenty of em', yeah it's not a problem. The Chaos Blade, especially if you can hold onto ten humanity at a time, melts boss health bars. I got to Artorias and killed him quickly on my first try. Same with Kalameet. Even Manus went down in record time, which is saying something, because I have never had an encounter with Manus that didn't turn out to be an endurance battle! Wether or not the other Katanas are better is debatable, but one thing is for sure. The Chaos Blade absolutely rules!
I had a fully upgraded quelaags fury sword and emded up doing chip damage to artorias, ending my first DLC run. Next time i just used a black knight sword and did fine. These games really hate dex weapons huh.
Can’t argue, Quellag sword is cool, but only in main game, in dlc it’s awful because of fire resistance all dlc bosses have. So I think lifehunt scythe or abyss greatsword is number 1
Manus catalyst would have been completely comparable… and tail weapons include Moonlight Greatsword… which would have been #1 so I guess I understand your reasoning, but still. It’s still a boss weapon.
Theres literally 1 boss bow, 1 boss shield and 2 boss catalysts. You can absolutely rank them eith the melee boss weapons, just compare them to their standard counterparts. Makes it even easier cause the catalysts dont need to be upgraded. Compare those to either Logans Catalyst.or the standard Sorcerer. The shield, compare thst to other shields and include the special attack. And guess what, in this game the tail cuts count as Boss Weapons, so youve done yourself and your viewers a disservice. Moonlight Greatsword, Seaths weapon. Dragon King Greataxe, Gaping Dragon boss weapon, Obsidian Greatsword, Kalameets boss weapon. Priscillas dagger. In the same level as her Scythe. Stop excluding things because you refuse to try and rate them or even understand them and their relation with other similarly classed weapons in the game. And shocker, this would also include Gravelord Greatsword which, like it or not, is Nito's boss weapon even if it is a covenant reward.
The xanthus joke was hilarious, but Smough’s Hammer is seriously the worst boss weapon in the game. On ng+2 or 3, I upgraded it to try it out against Artorias and while locked on, I literally couldn’t see anything he was doing. How tf am I supposed to fight a boss if I can’t see them.
I cannot stand the katana class in ds1 and demon souls the sheath/saya being wrong makes me so mad and every run convinces me not to use magic sword makoto or the chaos blade which sucks since fromsoft seem to be the only people that know what and uchigatana is (Great first pick best weapon in the game for me by a mile)
My honest opinion I think the first dark souls game is the only game with the worst playable boss weapons in my honest opinion and the only good weapons you could honestly say or just the average weapons you can get along the way in certain areas of the game like for instance like the dragon weapons those are pretty fun to play with but those are like the only weapons I really seen in the game that are actually worth using for any type of playthrough or you know that you can get early while I think that dark souls 2 and 3 are far more better when it comes to their weapons and I know this could be controversial and I think the one that did it the most with the most fun was technically dark souls 2 cuz you can infuse your weapons and also use intelligence to buff them with that exact same infusion while dark souls 3 you can't even do that
I absolutely hate how boss weapons were handled in ds1. The fact that you needed another weapon maxed out and the soul of a boss to make them. Glad they did away with that.
Was never a fan of the boss weapons in DS1. Outside of cosplay these weapons don't do much to outclass others... Black knight weapons are still my fave.

Agreed, people can say what they like about DS2 but the boss weapons are certainly special.
yeah
@@soldjaroffortun3🐍🐍
yeah and like almost every ds2 boss weapon is a beast too
I would slap Ds2
Ik he said no shields, but the greatshield of artorias is one of the best boss weapons in the game. You can tank the full wombo combo from manus.
Shame Artorias couldn't though, eh?
:(
Its a very good shield specially in pvp since it is immune to status build up however in pve a +5 crystal towershield will outclass it in terms of stability.
@@triploshadowdon't those only have like 10 durability and can't be repaired though?
@@kahlzun the crystal shield can be repaired
Nice to see a video that the weapons ranked aren’t based solely on damage.
hell yea would love for you to discuss ds3 weapons, there hasnt been a new video made on ds3 weapons in like 3-4 years
Got you homie

Or just 2hand a Manserpent GS.
Love any FS content you put out. Always an entertaining time.
Queelag fury sword carried me through my first DS1 playthrough back in the day so I'll always love it
brought back memories i forgot how many weapons i tried playing ds1, chaos blade and abyss GS were my favorite

Greatshield of Artorias is the objectively best souls weapon because it tanks EVERYTHING for zero stamina damage.
The real question is whom's'tve's your Steven in DS1?
will you do this with the other games?
The best weapon is probably the great scythe or the black knight halberd
