    Oof, Joker letting his vanity get in the way of his family life was a shockingly hard blow for me. It is a good move to make sure that we don't forget that Joker does still have these toxic tendencies. The man is trying to change for the sake of his family but Harley knows better than anyone that you can't change someone who doesn't want to change, and practically the instant people start giving him the attention he craves as a narcissist he slips back into those old habits and neglecting his relationships.
      Ultimately though once he does refocus on why he's doing all of this he is able to suppress those urges. He's not a brand new man, he's not perfect, but he's trying, and hopefully he can keep getting better.

Also, its pretty consistent that as THE agent of chaos, the Joker clearly has the logic to judge the best of what's right from what's wrong, but he is STILL deep down in his heart a narcissistic nihilist with the deep love for this family [whom he got to know and fell in love with while being a blank slate] is what drives him to make the bests of choices. Those of us who like him for the heart he's shown in comics and TV shows don't really want him to continue to be a dangerous villain unless it meshes with that aspect of his character, but DC usually doesn't get it. They think the fans just want a heartless scary murder clown. Joker's so much more. This show gets it, ironically, and I couldn't have guessed that from the first season.

    The rally was a copy of a scene from the 1989 Batman film. Notice the clown balloon,birthday cake parade float, and Joker’s outfit were all in the 1989 film. Plus, the fact he was handing out money in the movie, too. I like how they pay homage to that movie. Good job!

    Usually I wouldn't be on the side for straight joker lol, but I also love a more lighthearted approach to the Joker. Honestly I think the Joker can be a fairly fun yet dark character in the right writers hands, but I feel like he's nothing more than a plot device character now. So I'm happy this show didn't make him the evil to end all evils, AKA the demonic neurodivergent

    • @KB-zq9ny
      @KB-zq9ny 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I'd imagine this is a balancing act, because in DC comics, the villains sometimes get as much attention as the heroes, and they wouldn't want to make a popular villain look too bad, so they have to figure out how to condemn Joker's actions towards Harley without making him just flat out look like a terrible person. I wish the comic book writers would take a lesson from this weird show. Joker's a great character, but finding that balance between pure evil super villain and kind of random guy with a heart is difficult, I would imagine.
