Never knew there would be a fan game where Tails and Robotnik decide to collaborate together. Not only is the development great, but the writing is also
Robotnik actually had unique dialogue for whichever of the spray cans you pick up on your run through the Tutorial. For instance, when I picked green, he commented on Tails's obsession with certain green hills, like with Sonic.
Oh wow, that's pretty cool! Actually had a feeling that there might've been different dialogues depending on which spray can you pick up.
@@jaypin88 Mhm! As contested as the game is at the moment, a lot of the stuff so far is pretty creative.
There's also a challenging Special Stage for each of the first few cups that you can go through, but you need to win ALL the races in 1st Place in a cup or get enough points in a non-Easy difficulty to unlock it.
@@picoultimate7707 Not exactly? I've heard the only requirement was getting 50 points on a non-Easy difficulty, and if each of the 5 races in a GP can give you twelve points, you could theoretically miss 1st on one race and still get 50.
@@picoultimate7707You can be put into a Special Stage after ANY cup if you score well enough, though the requirement is actually pretty high. I hear ~85% of whatever is possible to achieve in a given cup (tracks may vary in lap count, and egg prison maps in egg prison count, resulting in different possible totals). I don't think you necessarily have to come first overall?- but it would certainly help to do so since placing first awards a better bonus, and you actually might have to place first overall anyway!
But yeah the Special Stages just come up after whatever cup you qualify for them on, and you are always sent to the first one you haven't completed; e.g.: You complete Special Stage 1 off Cup 1, then play Cup 4 and qualify, you'll get Special Stage 2. If you fail that attempt and qualify again on say, Cup 6, you'll still be sent to Special Stage 2 because you haven't cleared it.

Tails' annoyed face is peak frustration with Robotnik.
The award ceremony taking place in one of Robotnik's bases from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was a nice touch.
The actual driving mechanics look very reminiscent of Crash Team Racing. I LOVE IT!... Its amazing how modding Sonic Robo Blast 2 can become things like this.
Very impressive. I love the look and sound of this. I will say that the 35 minute tutorial threw me out of it a little, but they did a good job of integrating it into the storyline.
This game has taken it's toll on me for the AI being beyond fair.
I've always thought there was something up with the AI's, if anything I thought I was the only one that thought that.
@@jaypin88 Trust me I know that feeling. Doing all 7 main Grand Prixs was annoying enough but I am trying to unlock Cream the rabbit who is locked behind needing to unlock Blaze. Let's just say it isn't going really well.

As a note for the devs, the mandatory tutorial AT MOST should be a few little drills of common race interactions (using items, drifting, springs) then make the player do a single lap on a basic course. Keep it short and sweet. Leave this elaborate presentation to it's own story mode for players to actually want to play it and if you'd like, give those players extra skins and stuff. That would be a great balance between allowing ppl to immediately get into the game and rewarding those who play through your content.

I did notice that the Death Egg Zone icon is on the title screen in the middle of the "G" and "R" in Ring Racers. But probably everyone already knows this lol

I'm always super happy to see a game strongly featuring Dr Eggman but I'm also super happy when I see my fella Fang is playable.

Fang bieng playable with almost all the initial characters is a reference to Sonic Drift 2.
This game looks amazing. But the dialog is killing me lol.
Would love for thes high-quality "unofficial" Sega games to have legit proper OPL3 or MIDI audio, with so many modern sound modules like the Dreamblaster, MT32-Pi and OPL3 DUO available, it would be nice to flex them with some new games.
Who knew Tails and Eggman would have so much chemistry?
This tutorial would have been much better if it was broken up into smaller sections and presented as a "story mode".
Now the tutorial sectilons can be skipped but in the 1st try is mandatory to complete for learning how to play

This is why Nintendo pisses me off..Sega gave their BLESSINGS to the fan community to Sonic games..its amazing how its developed over the years and how new games have spawned from it (Jester and Freedom Planet 1 & 2) AND its why we have Sonic Mania..but Nah ..Nintendo has tons of FREE fan made games they do the most to consistently shutdown with Cease and Desist and then emulation scene takes a hit everytime Nintendo makes a move...AM2R is the best 2D metroid game next to Dread..and somehow..instead of seeing it as free publicity or hiring independent devs.. Nintendo chews em up in court everytime and shits em out...man..its like they WANT to be hated
Exists a secret race in the tutorial mode just skiping the tutorial going in the oppisite direction.
He'll always be Robotnik to me! It doesn't help that most Sonic games past Adventure 2 make him a goofy laughing stock instead of an imposing villain.
The tutorials are way too much. But the Outrun music in "Sonic Speedway Zone" is fantastic.

I like that it uses the believe in yourself track ('toot toot sonic warrior') as the green hill track because the master system/game gear version of green hills zone in sonic 2 used the same track :D

This is a very nice game.
There are RPGs with shorter tutorials than this. And please, do something about the voices, have them play different sounds randomly or something or make them less noisy. Insanely impressive work, however. This looks like a real passion project.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had a more long-ass tutorial and was unnecesary long.

I'm considering this an AU where Tails is a genetic contrust by Eggman as his assistant/partner. The two's IQ mixed with Tails' second tails makes my theory plausable, even if it isn't correct.

The question in the video is how to get pets, colors and characters?
You unlock them through completing challenges!! You can also get keys to use on challenges you don't wanna complete by just doing rounds
I do challenges anyway but they are difficult hard
some of the challenges are really stupid and they don’t show what they unlock
Or getting in that part of the tutorial over and over again (luckly with the updates you don't had to complete all the tutorial to get the spray cans).
I'd shell out $2000 for a saturn port of this.

Something about this game just makes it feel fucking horrible to play and I can't put my finger on it. Winning feels like nothing but losing feels like getting kicked in the balls by Usain Bolt. The karts are so fucking slippery and fly all over the place. If you're anywhere near the absolute chaos of the pack, you'll get thrown 50 feet in 2 seconds and shot to last place, even if you were JUST in first. There are more fucking mechanics and controls than some fighting games. Why are there TWO types of item boxes and why do they look so similar? Why does there need to be a roulette gimmick alongside the normal item boxes? Why is the control layout so weird and unintuitive if you're used to any other racer ever released?
It just feels like shit, no amount of patches can fix a game that's poorly designed at it's core.
Text sounds need to go, extremely irritating.
