    Ngl I actually cried when she was talking about filling in her teeth - it’s so disgusting that her parents are projecting their beauty standards onto her - and she’s being RANKED for it constantly. I hate beauty pageant shows. And I hate how you can tell that this little kid is already been told to be insecure about their looks and the parents are only supporting it.

      So true. The entire point is to make little kids look "attactive like grown women"... anyone who wants a kid to look like that is a sick n0nce. It often leads to beauty pageant kids growing up with EDs, depression, and huge issues with their appearance, and even being abused and killed like Jonbenet Ramsey.

    • @8teezy
      @8teezy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Was looking for a comment like this. I used to watch this show when I was younger and the expenses were enormous.
      The fancy dress they wore for the formal wear portion of the pageant was anywhere from 2-6 thousand and kids who regularly did pageants usually had 13+ of them. And considering how quickly kids grow between infancy and pre-teen years (which is where most of the girls in the show are) they're probably buying a new batch if dresses every pageant season.
      There were countless smaller expenses.
      The hair-pieces were around 50-80$, not to mention the makeup and tanning salons (unless the child was black).
      The other outfits (for the swimsuit portion and themed costume portion of the show) ran from 100/150-400 each. The glamour shots they had to send to the pageants ahead of time cost quite a bit of money for the photographer and the touch up process.
      But, by far, the biggest expense was traveling. Most of these pageants take place in southern USA and plenty of people had to fly to the locations. Then there was the hotel fees (these pageants were always held in hotels and they weren’t cheap.)
      And, of course, the attendance fee.
      I don’t remember the full cost of attending a pageant since I haven’t watch the show in years and don’t plan to go back and check but rest assured, The cost of attending the pageant was 8 to 10 times more than the money prizes.
      The grand prize itself is usually 1-2 grand and that’s ONLY the first place winner. Second gets 1000 or 500, Third gets 500 or 100 and everyone else gets fifties and twenties. She had to win a lot of pageants to earn 20,000.
      Edit: And, according to the later seasons, nowadays, its near-impossible to win without a pageant coach. And you can bet your ass that the price of a coach, especially the professional ones, was astronomical. On average, they charge 125 -150 her hour and the kid usually had 2 or 3 lessons per week. So, the only people to make any sort of money off pageantry are the coaches.

    Toddlers in tiaras is the worst show on TV. It makes parents think that it’s okay to spoil your kids to the point of the child unable to process the word no. It also promotes the idea of forcing your kids to win money by putting them through hellish routines and the Showbusiness world without any say in it. Just because some of the kids like it doesn’t mean they weren’t forced into it. They were made to like it because of the positive response they get by winning. It’s unhealthy!

    child pagents and the world surrounding them are horrible... these kids are closer to being abused, and being "spoilt" in the process is a bitter reward for that...

    At the age of 6 you can not blame a spoilt child case on the child, only the parents can be blamed until the child reaches at least 10.

    I feel like the dad taking on his daughter's hits is either two things, he knows she can bring money in for them and lets her be; OR he lets her take it out on him because she can't do it with her mother.
    I'm really hoping it's the 2nd one.

    I hate everything about that type of stuff cause you just know that not a single one of those kids wants to do all the competition and is just forced by the parents, and then all the trauma about not being good looking and stuff at that age is just fucked tbh
