Awesome comparison Ben. As an owner of a P6P, I agree with you on Night Sight, it takes too long. I wish google added a setting or something to make it shorter, even at the expense of brightness in the final pic.

Likewise I would like more phones to have the option for it to take longer but that you get a brighter picture
Night sight time is dependent on the exposure slider. Higher exposure means longer time. You can drag it down
Google used to offer a fast Night Sight mode. It was called HDR+ enhanced, but the Pixel 3 and 3a were the last Pixel phones with HDR+ enhanced... I have a 3a and I never use Night Sight, it is too annoying and very often produces blurry results. HDR+ enhanced produces sharp results, is faster and can produce the same bright results, if you use exposure compensation or shoot in raw. I also had a Pixel 6 Pro for a short time and due to the better hardware, one can actually take good and bright low light raw photos without Night Sight, the problem are the jpgs, which suffer from extremely aggressive and unnecessary color noise reduction, when you use exposure compensation for bright low light photos. But the raw files don't suffer from this issue.

Doing a comparison with the Mi 11 Ultra would be really fun to see if the leica partnership really improves the cameras a lot compared to last year.
I the Mi 11 Ultra and im not planning to change anytime soon, lets hope it can keep strong for atleast 3 years since i dont game on it.

Mi 11 ultra overheating too. Much is a reason for me to upgrade, and battery is dead already after a year. And I also got burn on pixel from this oled

@@DavideStiff my battery also just died a month ago. Crazy coincidence or faulty design? I think the latter because one of the marketed features of the new 12S Ultra is the dual battery protection chips. I ordered a new battery and will try to have a local place replace it for me, nobody place I've been to so far (here in Dallas) has even heard of Xiaomi :( how did you go about this battery issue my friend?

Only thing i miss are shoots in RAW. I'm using currently the Find X2 Pro and get constantly asked how i make my images. It's mostly just Raw-mode+ Lightroom.
Can't decide if i should get the X80 Pro or 12s Ultra after the disapponting Find X5 Pro.

Again an awesome comparison! I have to say the relatively low quality of the zoom lens is the reason I wouldn't buy the Xiaomi at the moment, but it is still very new so maybe they can improve the zoom photos and also the portrait shots with a software update. Otherwise I have to wait if the Vivo X80 Pro Plus will correct the weaknesses of the X80 Pro and get better zoom photos without sacrificing the amazing quality in all the other categories!

I think the Xiaomi ship has sailed here in Aus…JB et al were selling the Mi9 series, but haven’t seen any official local versions since then.

Google needs to catch up with the ultra-wide camera, the problem with its not wide enough has been a year ago and I really hope them to reduce the len flare.

Hi Ben new subscriber here, you really are the top reviewer when it comes to the new phone technology which I think has come to a head now with the one inch sensor as I really can't see any larger being needed as it can give superb separation of objects ( when the software allows lol ) and I think they need to inovate more on adjustable aperture and large adjustable periscope zooms like on the Sony but better of course. Software has to back up the hardware in my opinion and this is where Xiaomi and other Chinese manufacturers have to radically improve and if they haven't got the resources or knowledge to do so then they need to outsource to other companies to do it and to be honest there are loads of places in China that could do software optomisation for them, well that's the rambling over I just want to say your health is important too please make sure you get enough rest as a video a day late is better than an ill Ben.
Thanks! Really interesting comparison. Too bad for the 5x zoom camera of the 12S Ultra, which doesn't see so good. I hope in future software updates, to make the image sharper. In any case it seems in Europe we will never see the 12S Ultra, I read now (China only). Hopefully I will still find it within 10 months, from China, at a decent price lower than 1,000€ 😅 and my target price is about 600/700€ tops, which makes impossible to find a cameraphone nowadays.

Nice work Ben! This sensor is very good news of what are we going to see in the near future. I wouldn't buy the Xiaomi phone I think it under delivers in computational photography capabilities and not particularly a fan of its UI but it's impressive can't deny that. I'm also losing in telephoto capabilities of my S22Ultra and as a camera in a whole, it's more of jack of all trades. Next gen though will be a different story, this sensor is amazing and with good s/w it will definitely work wonders,especially for those who appreciate larger sensors and know about photography

I've watched a bunch a your video comparisons at this point, all of which are honestly some of the very best that I've seen, but I'm having trouble connecting the dots, as I'm deciding between three phones (for camera use only - I have a 14 Pro Max for everything else) which are rarely if ever all in the same review together. So, if I may ask: If you were to choose between the Pixel 6 Pro (not the 7), the Xiaomi Ultra, or the Vivo x80 Pro strictly for the quality of the daytime and nighttime raw still images, which would you go with? (I am a photographer who is looking for the best quality camera possible in a smart phone for when I don't have my regular gear with me.)

This was a nice comparison and I see you putting in that work man. Honestly as good as the camera on the Pixel 6 Pro is, I'm a little disappointed that Google has not pushed any major camera updates since release. It's capable of shooting 4k60 from.all lenses on Filmic Pro. Why haven't they added that to the stock camera yet? Why haven't they made the telephoto lens as an option for portrait mode? I wish we had options like Xiaomi in the US. It will be interesting to see which phone in the US will use that massive sensor. The other downside though is that you will almost never be able to get an entire subject in focus when you want to unless getting further away or using another focal length. This is where the dual aperture like the Sony Pro-I comes in handy.

(Not sure if this is a TH-cam-bitrate limitation here in Germany/EU...), it's hard to make out a meaningful difference in sharpness and noise of the video footage.
