    Oscar Figueroa got to be my all time fav. To wait for 16 long years and come back after repeated failures is just inspiration to all of us. Best example to never give up on things you love and believe.

      Alyssa Evenson I agree, but it's more of a partnership thing, the rider trains a 1200lbs animal to jump over things it's size. Trained, sure it's not like a 40 year old man can't compete because the sport itself isn't as physically grueling.
      Also you need money, wether you earn or are just rich. 😂

    Santi Lange (ARG) first competed at Seoul '88.Won Bronze in Athens and Beijing.Rio'16 were his 6ths Olyimpics. Survived Cancer and had a lung removed 10 months before the games. He won Gold with Cecilia Carranza in Nacra 17 (sailing).

    2008 First time, he couldn't do anything.
    2012 He got Silver Medal and he was sad because he just want Gold Medal.

    where is Hicham El Guerrouj? he set world records in the 1500 and mile early in his career but came up short 2 times in a row at the Olympics than in his final 2 races at the 2004 Olympics he won Gold in the 1500m run and gold in the 5000m run

    As someone from the USA the Dan Jansen one hits home the most. However, there was a Greco-Roman wrestler from Hungry that won the silver medal in the Featherweight category in 1952-56-60 only to finally win a gold medal in 1964. Might not be any film footage of him but talk about perseverance. His name was Imre Polyak.

    Hischam El Guerrouj: fell in Atlanta (1996), was overtaken in the final meters in Sydney (2000), and then pulled off a performance for the ages in Athens (2004) by winning both the 1500m and the 5000m golds.

    Hicham El Guerrouj should be there .. he failed to claim gold in 1996, he would go on to be the king of 1500m race for 4 years only to lose the gold once again in 2000.. in his last olympic 2004 he finally won the 1500m gold and to top it he also won the 5000m beating the world record holder the Ethiopian Bekele .. a true Legend and should be with those champions in this video

    In 2008 she lost in final and get silver
    2012 is a heartbreaker, she lost in 3rd place and finishes 4th
    Finally in 2016 she won gold medal.
    A worth to wait and to complete her masterpiece in badminton

      And Katherine Grainger. 3 silvers in 2000, 04 and 08, being world champion in 03 and 07, only to finally win gold at home games in london after winning world championships 2010/11 at age 37. then carrying on to silver in Rio age 41. Brilliant athlete.

      Respect to Ruth for winning gold, but 2 heptathlete women bettered her 1.97 by jumping 1.98 in their competition. Perhaps that makes it even more special then, not sure.

      barath4545 But she had not the chance of jumping 1.98., that day was raining and in that final were 17 high jumpers.
      She had 1/17 chances to win gold, and she has worked harder than everyone to win a medal in the Olympics, but I understand what do you say
