In the past they have tried to build a fourth stand and the owner of the stadium who is the previous owner of the club has blocked it or made it really hard to do anything. Their lease at the stadium ends in 2026.
Why move from such modern facilities? If demand is there, then construct a 4th stand and if not leave the car park in situ. The likes of Luton Town would be grateful to have a ground like this.
I think the problem is the stadium is owned by Firoz Kassam. He sold the club but kept ownership of the ground. He leases the stadium to the club each year and the current lease expires in 2026. I think in the past the club has wanted to redevelop or build a 4th stand but he has blocked it.
@@historyoffootball87 yeah mate I wonder why they want a new 16000 seater when surely they can just overhaul there current stadium 🏟️ you would think you would get a better stadium out of the budget with it being half built
I have read that Firoz Kassam owns the stadium despite selling the club in 2006. Oxford United have a lease at the ground which expires 2026. Apparently the club has wanted to redevelop or build a new stand but because his group own the stadium he has blocked it.
@@historyoffootball87 the council need to put a compulsory purchase order on it and lease it to the club would solve there problem seems more reasonable than building a new stadium it's all just mad
❤❤❤
It looks very strange with stands on three sides and they will play in the championship next season

Were's yeah 4th stand were's yeah 4th stand?
I don't think it is ever getting built.

It looks a half decent stadium shame like
I think if it were finished it would look like The Den. The stands looks similar and have gaps in the corners.
