  • Looking for tips you can use to reduce the frustration at home?
Are you interested in helping your loved one?
Do you find it frustrating at times?
    Overwhelming?
We call can use some guidance and insight as we navigate this challenging - and very important - road to recovery.
Why not take 20-30 minutes out of your day this week and spend some time learning a bit more about helping stimulate conversation?
Challenging your loved one is a path to maintaining the gains you've made in therapy AND to work on continuing to build confidence and gains.
Dr. Lori Bartels-Tobin of The Aphasia Center shares some insight with us on how to help our loved ones with aphasia at home. These ideas and examples are helpful for recovery and continued motivation.
All too often people with aphasia find they aren't challenged like they were in formal speech therapy. The result? Just like a rubber band expands and returns to the original state - so can speech. It is so important that we continue to stimulate speech and language in everyday normal conversation.
Her sessions on the Aphasia Cruises are always a hit with the caregivers! We need insight, education, and support too!
Thank you Dr. Lori for sharing with us!
Check out her blog and get more information about supporting your loved one's recovery at The Aphasia Center website:

i've told my family over and over, don't do things for me i can do for myself. it's hard sometimes but maintaining degrees of independence is good all around.

Fish oil and coconut oil both cause brain cell regeneration. Ive had aphasia. Ive had multiple strokes. Take both ev day. Coconut oil army research but off the shelf coconut oil works. Saga mine disaster victim articles. I once couldn't even walk literally, I had to learn to stand holding both walls finally. Once I couldn't in a stroke couldn't understand English at all. Be patient. Nerve regeneration may take two uears but this stuff works. I've been there.

I've had my left hand dropped dead at my side and I cried out to the Lord Jesus Christ and my hand was miraculously healed and I live to serve the Lord and to thank him for restoration my hand giving me my life back because where would I be today with one hand???
Lord Jesus thank you for ALL things you do for me and I love you with every breath I take Amen Amen Amen 🙏🙏🙏
Cry out to the Lord and see him do for you what he's done and continue to do for me.

Would it be helpful for the Aphasia patients to listen to this conversation or is it too much for the Aphasia patients to understand this too much ?
