    Even though he can't talk much this guy looks like he'd be amazing company and a pleasure to be around. He is extremely expressive without language.

    I am a survivor in 2013. I have aphasia . It has been very hard every day BUT you have to practice every day. Sometimes you think that your not getting better. The fact that you are reading this message YOU ARE BETTER. We know that this is a lifetime change and the Aphasia family that will help each other. You do not have to be alone. There are MANY programs not all of them work for you, find one that works for you.

      Could you perform tasks like give me thumbs up squeeze my hand lift your arm? When you first had it?

    You know he is shouting everything he wants to say in his head, but his tongue and brain are in disconnect. How incredibly frustrating that must be. His wife is a wonderful translator and extremely patient. I hope that they are still in good health!!

    I have a patient who had a massive stroke. Its so hard on them and their family. Thank you for making these videos, its amazing to learn from each person's experience to help understand my patient's feelingsand thoughts while they cannot express themselves at this time.

    I had aphasia from the beginning because when I was born the speech center of my brain was damaged when I was coming out of my mother. It was very hard at the beginning but my parents were proactive and took me to a speech therapist when I was a child and that really helped me. When you're born, you don't have any language so It was hard at the beginning. I went to a speech therapist for a few years. I had expressive aphasia and over the years I have overcome it with the help of God.

    What about expressive AND receptive aphasia? Married 40 years, but it is difficult!!!!! Plus anger outbursts.

    thank you for sharing this experience, my father-in-law has this condition, can you recommend a support organisation in australia that understands Aphasia and could assist in an assessment for him as the family is on different wavelengths coping and understanding. I feel if we could get someone to assess him that understands Aphasia we can then offer him support solutions. I have already had a speech pathologist see him and unfortunately it wasn't a match, no one's fault it was a mismatch and I know he felt misperceived. Thank you and good day

    Wow this amazing lady supports Steve in3
    such a loving way. she always knows what he's going to say. I have aphasia 3 strokes back to back within a week from COVID. No one knows how it is I feel trapped inside.I wish I had a woman like that!

      Could you answer questions like blink or squeeze my hand or give thumbs up or hear those around you when it first happened?

    • @StarOasis26
      @StarOasis26 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carmella88 I progressed significantly and I can do all that, but I cannot talk or express myself. It gets a bit frustrating because you know what you're going to say but cannot do it.

    My father just had a massive stroke that left him with severe global aphasia. We do not know where to start with therapy since it appears that no one is familiarized with this illness (Ecuador). Could you please give us some advice?

      It really depends on the person. It varies quite a bit.
