Hey, thanks for watching! It is a phenomenal location for sure, really different than the rest of Colorado. Be sure to check out my other, more recent Colorado Backpacking/Hiking stuff too, lots of progress in the 5 or so years since I did this!
Awesome video, looks like a great trail. I do a lot of backpacking in Arkansas, it would be nice to make it out to the real mountains soon. Thanks for sharing!
Nice video ,, that's the style video I enjoy ,, good work......"doesn't feel like Colorado"....??.....You're right ,, "Disney World"....lol.....but,,but....No fishing ??....Beaver Ponds ??.....If so,, I would have made it a 3-4 day trail....no rush ,, more fun.............Just found your site ,, will be hangin' on to see what comes......Thanks for the trail time.......Wasn't near so hard for me this way..(putting on the years,,and the gut)...lol................Stay Safe and God Bless...........
Kevin Fedde I went well but we messed up and took the Ute Creek trailhead which was an additional 3.7 miles each way. Not recommended. The loop was beautiful overall.
Thanks for the suggestion! Its obviously too late now since I can't replace videos on TH-cam, but I think that I addressed that in some videos since this one, since this is almost a year ago!
Monotonous music, mountainous terrain - I remember the big, funny-looking boulders. It sort of made me feel like I was at some ancient mystical site, like Stonehenge, or Machu Picchu.
There's a couple of formations along the Goose Creek trail that remind me of Easter Island moai (though I think they are actually significantly bigger).
Great video - getting excited for my trip out there, soon. We are going UL this time (usually hike CT in the winter, so the packs are so heavy). What offline trail app did you use? I like the look of it. Thanks for the insight in to what we will most likely see.
@@KevinFedde Thank you! I have the basic one but should prob upgrade. We are looking to do Twin Eagle - Brookside McCurdy - McCurdy Mountain to McCurdy Mountain - McCurdy Park - Goose Creek - Hankins - BM - Twin Eagle. I've read where the Twin Eagle parking lot is closed for the winter? I mean it is July :) 4 days 3 nights. We are 50K and marathon runners so hoping very doable. Lastly, clockwise - yeah or not?
What time of year did you go? July? What are the biggest things you learned on the trip? What did you do really well and what could you have done better? My wife and I are looking to go backpacking next week for 3-4 days and are trying to decide where to go in CO. We are from OH so its tough to find the "best" place to go. Criteria: 1) not a ton of people/ seclusion, 2) Mountain Views 3) Ideally a Loop trail. Any ideas? Thanks! Great video!
Thanks! It was a fun one! We went mid-July last year, if I remember correctly. Biggest thing I learned is that i could definitely have gone a lot lighter than what I took, especially for only 2 nights. As far as places that fulfill those criterion, I'm not too sure, since all the "mountain views" places have all the people! There weren't many at the Lost Creek Wilderness and it was a great loop trail, but we did it in less than 48 hours total. I think there are some really nice trails in the Sawatch Range near Buena Vista though, thats where I have been researching/hiking 14ers lately.
@@KevinFedde Thank you! I have been doing some research on the less well known Gore Range and it seems to be a little bit more promising, keeping my criteria in mind. Do you have any info on that range? Have you ever been there?
@@AdaptorDieChannel The Gore range is definitely less popular than other ranges, just because it doesn't have any 14ers in it. Their loss! Willow Lakes is one of the most popular places to go in the range, so maybe just pencil it in for a day trip. I haven't done any loops there though, but it's a good place to fit your criteria. You could also look into the Flat Top wilderness, less mountain views (it's a large plateau) but much less popular, even in the summer.
I just started this video and hope to use it as beta for my hike next year. I liked the video and subscribed your channel! Check out some of my content if you get a chance. I enjoy helping out the hiking community and love finding fellow backpacking channels. Safe trails!
Obviously can't edit out music once its already done and uploaded (especially for a year-old video), but I agree that it is a bit loud compared to the dialogue, for sure!
This is so cinematic, well done fellas
Thanks so much!
Great job gentlemen. Well done. I’m headed to this trail in June. I’m now even more eager to get this one done.
Excellent Firefly reference
Watched your video after being mentioned on Adventure Archives. Those rock formations are👌
Beautiful trail!🌲💚

Great vid. Nice editing and music. Doing this tomorrow and this just made me even more psyched.
Hell yeah, thats awesome! Have fun, its such a cool place!
Nice video Kevin. Great shots and editing. Plan on doing this loop solo in a few weeks can’t wait!
Thanks so much! Its a great, very unique loop for sure!
Some of the best footage I've seen with this camera
Thanks, its a surprisingly capable camera!

Hey Kevin this was a really good video. You really captured the beauty out there. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much glad you liked it!

I am VERY surprised this video doesn't have a million views. Great film!
thanks! Its getting there, albeit slowly! It was a fun hike and thats what matters more!
Great video. See or hear any elk on your hike?
Thank you for sharing. I’ll be doing this next week and you set the tone- counterclockwise.
Hope it went well!

Great video! Enjoyed it. Just a suggestion, maybe you can lower the background music a lil bit.

Monotonous music, mountainous terrain - I remember the big, funny-looking boulders. It sort of made me feel like I was at some ancient mystical site, like Stonehenge, or Machu Picchu.
The rocks there are crazy! Like my brother said in the video it doesn't feel like Colorado in parts!
There's one giant rock along the Goose Creek Trail that kind of looks like an Easter Island statue (but bigger).

AWesome! I used allTrails Pro, so its like $30 or something for a couple years subscription, I like it quite a bit so far.

What time of year was this hike? The mosquitos seemed pretty crazy; I'm guessing it's pretty early season.
This was mid-July 2019, so not super early season, not super late season.
Awesome video! Your gear list link isn't working though; could you update?
Thanks! I think the link at least is updated, though it has been a while since I updated the site over there.

Cool video! What trailhead did you start at?
So I believe that we started at the Lost Park Campground, Willow Gulch trailhead. It was a nice start/finish point, for sure!
How bad is the road to get to the trailhead? My gps is warning me about unpaved roads so I’m wondering if you have to have 4wd to get there
Defnitely didn't need 4WD to get to the trailhead that we started from, for usure!
It's a decent gravel road, which should be drivable in most vehicles.
What app were you using for map? Planning on going this trail in 2 weeks!
I was using Alltrails Pro on my phone, but I did have a printed map as well of the area, just in case!
What app are you using for the trail/gps on your phone? at 4:48
I am using AllTrails Pro. It's like $35 for 2 years or something.
Can you drop a link to your music playlist?
The link is already in the description! Straight to the artists soundcloud account!

@@KevinFedde Love the music actually. One of the reasons why I'm watching. Would really love to ID the band or musician at about 11:00 in...
Rude and very much a bozo comment Rich. Please be kinder.
@@bcollins8494 Thanks so much! The band at that point is called TakeTime, should be able to find them on bandcamp!
