    Great tutorial. I like your detailed explanation of the steps. Your choice of kits was perfect for this type of treatment. In the lore, they are ornamental suits assigned to the Zabi ruling family. Other kits that would look good would be some of the Mortar Heads from Five Star Stories. Has Cookie ever done any of those kits? An alternate to the saran wrap method would be to use some photo-etch masking templates to have some more control over the overall look of the marbling effect. I am always in awe of the modellers who achieve the marble effect using paint brushes and oil paints. That is a level of skill way beyond me.

    • @frostedsnow
      @frostedsnow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! I don't know the lore too well, though I do know the Zabi is "royal". Kughee and I are not really into FSS, but we have seen loads of it at studios we painted at. I agree it'd look cool! Thanks for the other suggestions too :) I see people marble by pulling out a wet wipe, but I don't really like that smokey look. I was gonna mention that method in the video too. Doh! Actually, girls do marble painting on nails w this complicated water and paint dipping method XD

    I saw another method that worked very well that just used stretched out cotton (like the fake cobwebs you use for Halloween decorations) as a stencil over the black and then the color is just sprayed over it. The results were very clean and natural looking and I would think you'd get much more control since you can kind of adjust how the cotton is laid out before spraying the color.

    Which kits would you like to see with marble paint?
    PS. I forgot to mention that there are other ways to do marble painting, but I chose the saran wrap 'cos I like the distinctive marbling effect -- most genuine marble look to me. You can also pull a wet tissue over the part and spray over it, which is actually easier to do and gives a more spidery look. However, I wanted to challenge myself, and I just like the saran marble effect more!

I use Micro Set and Micro Sol as part of my process, but was wondering what advanced builders do. I’m also curious how you deal with stickers. Yes, stickers. Sometimes you just don’t have an alternative to using them. What tools do you use? How do you apply them exactly where you want? What do you do if you f* up? These questions go for decals too. should add the paint to bunched up piece of saran wrap and dab the paint on with the part with the saran wrap. works better.

    When you say you re-do the paint job on that part, do you strip it and start over? If you do strip the part, what's your process for that? Great video as always, and I appreciate showing the "here's the bad things to look for and how to fix them" portions; not enough of that is shown with tutorials.

    • @frostedsnow
      @frostedsnow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No stripping here, just top coat. No stripping for plastic or it'll melt, only strip resin. Just gotta sand for plastic!

    fuck this is such a cool approach, have you tried using this on warhammer models or other smaller kits before? i'm definitely going to try it out

    • @frostedsnow
      @frostedsnow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't but the smaller the part the less distinct the marbling cus there's just less surface area. I found that on my gunpla pieces! Warhammer fan here too! It'd work better on smooth armor surfaces without too much detail.. eldar would be great example

    The marbling between bad and good is kinda a thin line depending on the the look natural marbling is usually a 3 are more colors that fades into the other colors this but in your video are this video is candy marbling it's alot of work but all depends on the look you want but great video ❤
