I'm glad you covered Bristles falling-out because everybody I watched was all about the oval brush technique and I finally got an oval brush after months and months of watching tutorials and everytime I paint with it or any other one from this set of 3 I have bristles all in the paint and have to pull them out with tweezers. You're right it is very annoying and sometimes I mess the paint up having to do that.

Thanks for that little background history on yourself. It really adds to your artwork. Great advice for the beginning painter. Took the words right out of my mouth! “Use only high grade art supplies to lessen the frustration you will WILL encounter along your way. I had my first paint cracking just the other day when I skimmed on my painting trying to get fluid poured type of white. Had to go back over it with my good white! Luckily I was able to recover my painting to quality work. Bet of luck on your journey to happiness and art🙏

Liquidex mediums to blend are wonderful, and don't take that much longer to dry. But of course, one can use less water that way. Just swap it for the water bottle

Ru, i am a big fan of yours but have an important question. What brand and type of varnish do you use on your paintings? You never talk much about it. I wish you would do a video on how you varnish..Gloss, satin, matt. Brush on, spray-on? Drying times. I have learned so much from you. Your the best.

It's because I don't use it anymore 🙂 as I don't have time for it
I used to use Liquitex liquid (brush on) matt or satin varnish
Before applying the varnish, it takes at least two weeks for the acrylic paint to dry completely

I add Propylene Glycol (food grade) to the misting water during the hot season as it hits 35C in the studio even at night. This retards the water drying out. Can be added to the paste I use to create shapes as that is acrylic based and goes off very quickly. I use old toothbrushes to splatter paint as there was a small disaster when I used a brush ..... the ceiling still has the splatters ;-)
Which part of Italy are you in? I spent some time down in the south in Puglia, they have Trulli houses built from stone and no cement there, they are very interesting.

Thanks a lot, many "food" for thoughts. I have two paintings impasto style which look absolutely plastic. I have thought , perhaps, this weird result was due to Catalyst silicon tool I was using first time. And yes, I did use a cheap paint, whatever it means, as in my opinion it is not cheap at all, but definitely not professional grade. On the top of everything, I used varnish, and the weirdness just multiplied. I guess you resolved my mystery. Thank you. P.S. I still love my painting, despite .....

White Acrylic Paint
Hi Ru, Your a wonderful painter. I've learned some techniques that im anxious to try. Question would i be able to use the mixed media painting sheets that come in a pad? Will the canvases that come in a roll work? You said something about the paint cracking. TY so much 😊

I have never used mixed-media painting sheets so can't say anything about that.
And regarding rolled canvas it depends on the techniques you are going to apply. The thinner the paint coat the better and it is advisable not to make texture paintings.

I’m constantly taking pictures of things. Some for colours, some for figures…but I’m only learning and I need to learn how to get it on canvas without it looking stupid.
Inspiration comes from Pinterest, TV fashion shows series, museums, HDTV, Furniture stores, Internet..and so on....
Anything with shapes from the fields to the local temples.
How do you finish off the sides of your canvas?
I paint them like it's a continuation of the painting
