The ab crunch can be done by pressing the grill part of the truck and there is an extra step on the legs that you need to pull them apart alittle or shift the thigh part so that the legs are not too close to each other.
Most people skip the instructions miss the articulation. The abs do crunch and the legs must be separated at the hips to give the right proportions, unlike the vintage. Also Dianauts can still be seated in his chest if you remove the Matrix chamber. Toes also tilt up one step too, as well as down and side to side.
Great review Patriot Prime! I think it’s worth mentioning that this release (C-02) is the ‘Anime Edition’ (written in small Japanese text next to the name bar) and it features the blue tinted windows and blue eyes. The Missing Link C-01 Optimus Prime, with trailer, is the actual OG G1 toy colored version, featuring orange tinted windows and yellow eyes, and a few deco differences if I remember. That’s the one I’m getting; I’ve seriously been waiting 20 years for articulated G1 figures, this is a dream come true since I started getting into collecting TFs as an 24 yrs old adult back in 2003! I actually still have old drawings I did of sketches exploring customizing ideas for creating articulations on some of my old G1 figures, which I didn’t do as I have no background in figure customization.
You should review Missing Link C-01 G1 Optimus Prime (G1 toy version with the yellow eyes). He is way better than the C-02 version. You don't have to worry about applying stickers to the C-01 version of Missing Link G1 Optimus Prime because the stickers on C-01 Missing Link G1 Optimus Prime are printed on and not stickered on. I want to see some missing link versions of the rest of the G1 characters in the future. That would be awesome! The only thing that I don't like about C-01 Missing Link G1 Optimus Prime is that he does not come with blue version (G1 toy-accurate version) of G1 Roller. Instead, he came with the silver version (Cartoon-accurate version) of G1 Roller. And that doesn't make any sense.
I didn't get the one with the trailer for the same reason. I like it but I don't have anywhere for that trailer to go. This figure should be in my hands by the end of the week and I'm very excited for it! Great review as always, Patriot.
I ordered both versions of this guy. I received C0-2 the other day. As soon as I opened the box I was feeling the nostalgia. He does have limited ab crunch and also his legs are on sliders at the hips. You can separate his legs apart a bit. Love this figure. Can't wait to get the version with the trailer.
Great Video! I had to get both. I couldn't resist. One is on my desk, they other in my collection room. They managed to re-create that feeling you got as a kid when playing with the figure for the first time, and Its so familiar, yet new.
Cool! Mine's somewhere between BBTS and here. I went with the trailer option. I gave my G1 prime to my little cousin back in the late 90s, and I've been without ever since. I'd been wanting to pick one up, and then this fella was announced. How serendipitous! Another cool video, sir!
Man, the Missing Link line sounds like a fun idea. Reminds me of MOTU Origins. Vintage looking figures but with more articulation. I wonder how they’ll give potential future figures that treatment? Like Megatron, Wheeljack, Bumblebee…or Ironhide if they’re crazy enough! There is a an crunch, but it’s rather tight. A bit scary feeling at times too according to certain collectors. Fun video overall, neat to see blind play throughs or figures like this.
I gave my original Optimus Prime to a friend of mine just so I'd have an excuse to buy the new Missing Link Optimus Prime. He was wanting one but they were so expensive when new or in great condition. Mine was basically brand new looking at it stayed in the box and so far, my new Prime are both still in the box.
Not a G1 kid, I grew up with the Unicron Trilogy and thought I had it good. Nah. You guys had the slightly cooler toys (😉). All the articulation in the world can't beat rubber tires, chrome trim and rims, real seats for accurately scaled figures, and metal parts. I still give due respect: without G1, nothing else exists. An obvious fact, but an important one, nonetheless. That said, I love this. I wasn't even alive for G1 OR the Beast Era, so this is likely the closest I'm gonna get to that. My uncle, who was around when the original Optimus Prime was released, will no doubt appreciate the Toy Version, with a trailer. But the anime version is mine, because honestly, yes. Toy Optimus is cool and all, but I actually saw the 86 movie when I was seven, in 2006, so I'm not lost on G1. And honestly, I just remembered thinking that G1 Optimus was so much cooler than Cybertron Optimus, cause Cybertron Optimus could never beat Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron straight up, and G1 Optimus beat G1 Megatron straight up, even if it was at the cost of his own life.
I really want the G1 accurate colored version of this. The cartoon colors are cool but if it's going to be modeled after the toy I want the original colors.
Yes and the C-01 (with Trailer) also features G1 toy accurate yellow eyes and orange tinted windows, as well as paint apps representing perfectly the original G1 stickers. That’s the one I am getting.
He definitely has a ab crunch, but its super tight at first. My only complaint about this guy is that after seeing the extra paint they did with the c-01 where the new molding is, this guy lacks it. I don't really want to put the stickers there since I feel it will look kinda cheapened if I do. I love that you he can use both hands to hold the gun at the same time. This is everything I ever wanted from a prime as a kid.
Great review, as always. Im even more excited for my C-O1 Optimus to arrive. It seems Takara- Tomy has done the impossible with these Missing Link Primes, Improve on an already perfect toy.
This is what we should have got as kids lol it’s cool they did this but I’m more in to the modern bots I have maybe 2 G1 TF bots! I’m happy for all the G1 toy guys like you bro who still loves the G1 toys as much as the new toys!
I used toyhax stickers for the first time when I ordered my G1 vintage (restored by me) Star Saber. And they are high quality stickers. Probably the best quality stickers I ever had
His name is Convoy in Japan..He is know as Cybertron is what the top says so it says Cybertron Convoy.. the rest I cant see well enough to translated...In some Convoys did have blue windows. New years 2002 prime had blue windows the rest were yellow or clear. Just like the US versions
No way you’ll end up using the provided stickers over that beautiful molded in detail! The toy version is even nicer! And like most people have mentioned about splitting the legs a bit, and the an crunch. You can also remove the matrix holder from the cab if you want to show the seats. If they release more G1 figures like this, they’re all instant buys from me (even if other brick formers are next to impossible to add articulated legs to).
You're right, those factory ones will stay right on the sheet. As for missing some features, that's what I get for Reviewing right out of the box, I may not do this style again because of that. I felt I needed to film that way to really show my excitement for this.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Your excitement was genuine and a refreshing change! Must’ve been very hard not to watch reviews before doing this… I wouldn’t have been able to!

This one sent Patriot Prime back in time! It's like watching a kid on Christmas morning
That it did for sure.

I said this was the "Animated Version" in the intro.
I missed that my bad!

The curse of doing these figure reviews.
Some folks focus more on what I miss than the other 98% of the video.
SOLD!!!!
I'm ordering one now.
You sounded like you were a kid again throughout the whole video. 😅
If you are interested at all, he's so worth it.
I did feel like a kid again.
Such a great toy, if you're a Geewunner like me, you'll love it.
I dreamed of this Prime back in '86!
I'll grab one soon 🙂
I just got my shipping notice email. I’m so excited!
The ab-crunch is super tight on mine too.
But it’s such a wonderful toy regardless. I love him so
Seeing G1 prime articulate reminds me of the Marvel Comics

I went ahead and got both copies

the ab crunch is very well hidden. Very easy to miss. The whole figure is bendier than good ol' Bendy Prime himself.
Cool! Mine's somewhere between BBTS and here. I went with the trailer option. I gave my G1 prime to my little cousin back in the late 90s, and I've been without ever since. I'd been wanting to pick one up, and then this fella was announced. How serendipitous! Another cool video, sir!

I haven't seen you this excited for a figure since...ever! It was a pleasure to see you geek out like a kid, great review!
Thanks man.

Crazy it took them this long to make something like this. Hopefully, we get more down the line!
That would be awesome.
I really want the G1 accurate colored version of this. The cartoon colors are cool but if it's going to be modeled after the toy I want the original colors.
Then you want the c-01, not the c-02. roller is silver instead of blue, and the launcher doesn't work.
Yes and the C-01 (with Trailer) also features G1 toy accurate yellow eyes and orange tinted windows, as well as paint apps representing perfectly the original G1 stickers. That’s the one I am getting.
Hey patriot, just got mine yesterday, and I absolutely love it.

I debated on getting the C-01, but as I stated, I'd feel like I'm wasting money on the trailer that would just end up being in storage.

Couldn't agree more
All he needs is a Stars and Stripes to hold up high.

They are good, I recently reviewed my G1 Trypticon, that I Toyhaxed back in 2013, and they're still holding strong.

The figure looks awesome. I end up getting the other one with the trailer. Thanks for a great review.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
I want an animated version with a trailer or a g2.
Too bad about the scratch on the paint. I haven't taken mine out of the package yet, but I guess I should to make sure there aren't any issues
Yeah. That sucked. Fortunately, it's small but I'll always notice it. 🤔

Great review brother!
Thanks, this one was fun to shoot.
Straight out of the package and right to the Review table.
I don't think I've ever done that before.
Is this one much different from the legacy united version?
I'll find out Wednesday
just ordered my Missing link prime.. like an idiot I got the $119 one with because Im an idiot LOL but looks like he will be worth it
Well...I'll be Premiering a review of C-01 later this evening.
Stay tuned.
