I love this type of short that advertises long form. It manages to give the viewers interesting bites so even if they just watched the short form, it would still be worth it. @@tegridy9569 bro I live in Bulgaria and even we have access to small Korean shops in the capital at least. You don't need a lot for Kimchi, just gochugaru and fish sauce, the rest is optional. You can also order online in some cases. I've used savoy cabbage and different vegetables in season instead of daikon as well.
@@dopex89I live in Rio and I have a hard time finding pretty much all of the ingredients. When I find them it's usually far away and unreasonably expensive. But I also can't find any kimchi lol, so what choice do I have😅
I can get vegan Bok kimchi somewhat locally from a brand in Germany called Lee & No and they even have it in a mild and a spicy version! I couldn't eat regular kimchi anyway, since I'm allergic to seafood and it usually has those little shrimps in it, so I'm really glad I can get these with less transportation impact. But yeah, for any other types I can't be lazy, I'll have to do them myself if I want other types of cabbages or veggies.
My favorite is the plain glass jar tucked deep in a cold box at the Korean market, hidden in a little brick store across town. Even the store doesn't seem to have a name. And I'm pretty sure the owner is making it. She's a little old Korean lady.
I've never tried the vegan bibigo version, but the regular CJ kimchi is always consistently good to me (while the others are sometimes inconsistently good)
There's something so healing about your cooking videos. Its like hearing the rainfall as you sleep or having a cool breeze pass you on a warm day. I hope you never stop making these shorts ❤❤
Jongga Vegan is my go to! They have canned which is okay, but their shelf stable packets are awesome! I take them backpacking or even just on errands. They're a perfect serving size and relatively inexpensive. They are missing the stronger fermented tang from their refrigerated counterparts but worth it for the convenience and stability.
the country style vegan sliced kimchi is really good except for the cucumber version. i love cucumber kimchi but def not in that brand. thanks for rating them!
Canned kimchi is by no means good but it's not trash tier either. It honestly gets the job done if you're camping/traveling and need to be able to transport kimchi without worrying about it leaking and making a mess or stinking up the rest of your luggage.
I’m vegan and I love the Wegmans spicy vegan kimchi surprisingly! It’s better than most Asian branded vegan kimchis I’ve tried (which is so weird.) make sure to get the SPICY and not the original
I get a raw organic vegan one which is sold here in the UK. They sell the jar in the fridge at the Chinese supermarket, its quite expensive but my favourite part is when you open it and it all starts rising up like its alive due to the pressure / gases! It's freaky in a cool way. And it tastes SO good!!!!!!
Did you do Trader Joes? Brought their brand at a random grocery store but it was my first time having kimchi and I had to cook it first so I don't know if the quality was good or not.
Ah, you have blown my Korean blood out of my ancestors 😂 I did not know there was such a difference in brands of kimchee. Sometimes I'd get a jar and love it, and other times it would make me gag😂
My first experience trying kimchi was canned kimchi, and I thought I didn't like kimchi. Then I tried proper kimchi, and I really like it now, and sometimes make it myself. I don't mind canned kimchi now.
We absolutely love the kimchi from the restaurant near by so we buy a quart when we go, but the second best flavor & most economical is the one from the Korean market. Every one from American grocery stores tasted blah. Something was always off.
for me the canned one TASTES ok but majorly loses in mouth feel compared to fresh or jarred versions. and sometimes, when it's all i can get, it's better than nothing. (i'm in the netherlands and both kimchi AND kimchi ingredients - even napa cabbage - are hard to find. the napa cabbage here is small and old so it doesn't make good kimchi.)
I'm not vegan but I actually prefer the jongga vegan kimchi to regular kimchi. I find myself craving the salty, spicy, fermenty kimchi flavors but I'm not a big fan of the taste of fish sauce. I didn't realize the fish sauce was the flavor I didn't like until I had the vegan kind
Jongga feels like my tongue is burning and it’s not the spice level! I wonder if it’s just too much ginger, either way….didn’t like! 😁 My fav vegan I’ve tried is Sinto Gourmet spicy, which I found through Misfits and of course they stopped supplying it 😭
My favorite kimchi is the one that comes in a little packet from heb. It’s called Jongga Napa Cabbage Kimchi Spicy. So freaking good but so sad it comes in little packets 😭
The closets grocery store to my house is lidl so I usually end up going there for stuff ~ I've made the mistake of buying their kimchi too many times 😭 it's bad every time I get it but then weeks go by and for some reason I tell myself "I might like it this time" 😅 I love kimchi but that one is just too bad
I'm soo frustrated that we don't have jongga available in the philippines 😭😭 I've seen alot of people mention it and even Hoshi of svt is a sponsor so I must try it lol. I'm afraid that if I make my own kimchi it wouldn't be as good 😂 since I don't know how good kimchi should taste like
I tend to like the nasoya brand because it still has a bit of crunch to it, whereas the mother in laws kimchi and others texture is slimy and mushy or the flavor is off.
The brand Nasoya and the brand Lucky Foods both make vegan kimchi as well and they’re very delicious. Also did have you ever tried the store kimchi from the brand surasang? It was the most disgusting kimchi I’ve had in my entire life. It tasted like ketchup for some reason.
the canned one is one of the few brands I could find here in Germany where I live. I think I've seen a total of 3 different brands across all the asian markets I went to 🤔 plus a gentrified version in an organics market lol but I wouldn't rly count it since the target customers aren't those who want authentic kimchi. anyway! I didn't like the canned one all that much either, but I don't think it was the worst I've ever had 🤔 the one I liked is surprisingly not among those you found!

I bought the vegan one and it was awful, soggy and gross. Good kimchi needs a decent crunch at minimum
