Awesome footage! Thanks for posting this. Chris is from my hometown of San Antonio. He's a true innovator and master of the guitar. Completely underrated and has always deserved more credit. I love how he has always crosses genres. He pushes the limits......fucking brilliant!
Hahaha I love you Chris, your like family to me man. I appreciate your music! You definitely have been my way out of hard times. For most of my life. And I've shedded much blood sweat and tears studying you and your style.. I'm very blessed that I've crossed paths with you.
I have seen Chris a couple of times back in the early 2000's. One time, he was scheduled to play for 3 hours with a 30 minute break in between. Well, he took only a ten minute break in between and proceeded to play for close to 5 hours. The venue finally had to turn the power off on him because the employees wanted to go home, LMAO. Once they turned the power off, Chris just yelled out to the crowd --THATS IT, THEY WONT LET ME PLAY NO MORE. ---GOODNIGHT.
Alright, what's the deal here, I'm the last person who commented on this... 3 years ago? Still the best out there today. Chris routinely can scare the crap out of a roomful of great guitar players. Man, he's savagely great. And the guy who keeps yelling, he's still an idiot. That hasn't changed.
He is kinda like Stevie Ray’s little cousin who has Tourette’s & digs free-flow jazz. This guy is one badass guitar player and musician. Some jealous guitar hack in comments says Chris lost his mojo in 95. Well obviously he didn’t need it because this is pure guitar playing awesomeness!!🎸🎼
Chris is awesome as usual but I LOVE watching this drummer. My favorite Chris Duarte drummer was Jason Patterson but I think he lost the title to this guy. Jus my opinion of course. Please don't get too mad at me🤣
Fuck-Fuck-Fuck, the end of the solo on Big Legged will broke the test of time 52:29. Pure inspiration for guitarist in the future. the drummer has a lot to do with it btw.
I SAW CHRIS DUARTE IN STOCKHOLM SWEDEN 1995,HE WAS OPENING FOR JEFF HEALEY ON A PLACE COULD "ENGELEN" AND PLAYD BETTER THAN JEFF......,HE WAS INCREDIBLE , HE WAS FANTASTIC ON GUITAR AND COOL ALSO ASWELL....!!!!!
Seeing other even more recent videos I'd guess this night in particular he must've had troubles with his throat or vocal cords... Maybe he had a cold who knows, it sounds like it
I hear a lot of notes being played, and that's cool for rock, but, there's no melodic playing, the guitar voicing, telling a story, just not there. But, thanks for the video.
tomcata1467 how many songs have u listened to? How many CDs did u buy of his? He’s been around forever. Shiloh or Something Wicked. I’m sure u can do better though. Judging someone on one performance and never seeing or hearing anything else? Get outta here.
thats like telling jeff beck that he should play like eric clapton. or telling eric to play like duaine allman. I used to travel to see Chris back in the late 90's. sadly there wasn't the tech to capture those shows. But for us lucky folks that were in the rooms back then, I can surely tell you, the musical connection you are missing was there and still is there. look at some of the lower def vids from around 99 or 2000. the video isnt there but the sound is. I don't know why I am wasting my breath. just look deeper into the music suggestions... the bottle blues vid will set you straight if you are truely a person who wants the true blues fed to you, just dig deeper. peace and love to you.
Hahaa......oh man I'm guessing your actually quite jealous of his playing. He's a master, hands down one of the most underrated guitarists to walk the planet. He's an innovator. His "scrabbling" as you call it goes way back. He gets into zones that go well beyond common logic. That's where innovative music happens.
What a stupid comment. Reminds me of how people who don't understand jazz call it aimless noodling. As if just because one doesn't understand something it must be inferior. That's why America never really could support the various genres that were actually created and mastered here. It's a tragedy and the direct result of a dumbing down through media marketing and poor education. What a stupid country.
Whoever filmed this I cannot thank you enough. I can now relive this amazing concert as many times as I want. What a magical night!
You are Welcome! It's the reason i did it, to re-live over again.
edtyre1 every time I watch him I’m blown away!

My new favorite guitar slinger. What a breath of fresh and innovative, ass kicking greatness.
Watching this again and im still blown away. Even cooler I was there in person. And even cooler than that he's coming back again in May!

Ypu got your gold strat back Chris?
45mutant did something happen to it? I’m still waiting for his beloved Strat that was stolen many yrs ago to show up.
Chris D is a monster player, but I recall his vocal abilities being better in the past.
Seeing other even more recent videos I'd guess this night in particular he must've had troubles with his throat or vocal cords... Maybe he had a cold who knows, it sounds like it

Chris tells a lot of stories, is the John Coltrane of Guitar playing
tomcata1467 you're a dumb ass.

Duarte lost his mojo in 1995 and all the aimless scrabbling around the fretboard is probably him trying to find it(in the wrong place)
