What's this hammering off bit? Can you explain?

This looks so easy 🙈 I’m actually struggling with the pedestals. I only use wood glue, water and aluminum dioxide but the matt crystalline glaze stick always together. Seems to be that the glaze flow between pedestal and the object and mixes with the aluminum. Do you have any tips or impulses for this ? 🙈
