      Yeah I totally understand... I lost my old spot and it took years to hit home that I'd not just lost a spot but lost a whole group of friends. It's one of the main tings that inspired me to try and find another place to build so we'd all be kept together.

    • @antoniohatch5170
      @antoniohatch5170 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justkeepdigging1956 Oh no I didn't mean the color matching of the video. I meant you'll get the recognition you deserve!
      It may be a more local saying, but "you'll get your colors (or flowers)" is like saying you deserve a medal, or a reward bigger than you have now.
      I don't know if that makes sense, but keep up the amazing work.
      I'd love a breakdown of the equipment you use sometime, those follow cam shots are so smooth, and the overall quality is amazing!

    • @justkeepdigging1956
      @justkeepdigging1956  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@antoniohatch5170 Ah no way thanks dude! I thought you were a filmer who noticed that some of my grading is a little questionable in places!!!
      The follow cam shots are either gimbal or cablecam - I ripped apart an old RC car a few years ago and made myself a cable cam rig from the bits! haha. Works a treat!
      Thanks again dude!

    • @antoniohatch5170
      @antoniohatch5170 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justkeepdigging1956 I'm no filmer, though I tried my hand at grading for a school project once, stuffs not easy.
      No way an RC car, a video equipment breakdown would be sick.

    • @justkeepdigging1956
      @justkeepdigging1956  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@antoniohatch5170 I've always struggled with colours. My main camera for this was the GH5 with 18-35 sigma. Also used a GH4 for timelapses, GoPro 7 and DJi Mavic Air. I also have a blackmagic 6k but I rarely bring it to the trails as it's a bit overkill really!
      I think the colours on the GH5 are my biggest criticism- it looks a bit too much like camcorder footage. It's so easy to use tho and has been a reliable workhorse for 5 years now!

    Sorry to see the original setup closed it's good you's found another place. Whats the best dirt for building jumps? I noticed the red coloured dirt going on at the end of each build. Cheers 🤙

    • @justkeepdigging1956
      @justkeepdigging1956  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is one of the mysteries of life... different dirt has different benefits and problems. Our last spot was sandy which meant it was quite delicate but it could rain for 2 days straight an we still wouldn't have any puddles as water drained through it so fast. It meant we could ride nearly all year. Clay runs like concrete in the summer but turns to slop if it gets too wet. We're looking for a material that paks hard but also allows some drainage - we're still experimenting to be honest. It's weird to go from using the same dirt for 15 years to now using something completely different!

We're dying to ride the lines ourselves which is keeping us motivated to dig as fast as we can! Duuuuuuudes this is sick. So glad to see this awesome work. Plus the shredding clip in the middle was so sick, top notch filming and editing that 👌👌. I have to ask what is the orange coloured dirt? Is it benefitial to ride on or just dreamy to shape? And Is it sand and are you bringing it in?

    • @justkeepdigging1956
      @justkeepdigging1956  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks mate! Stoked you enjoyed the video! Got plenty more on the way! The orange dirt is dirt mined from further down the hill - there's quite a lot of it and it's weird stuff. Definitely some clay in it - some sand too. Seems to compact well but we still think we will need some better surfacing material for some sections that will see heavy traffic. The only earth that is coming in is some clay that we're using to form the base of most features.

    Oh no! What happened to the original spot?

    • @justkeepdigging1956
      @justkeepdigging1956  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's on Forestry land and the rules are changing under a new agreement. It's not over and we're working out the best way to keep them going but we're having to accept the fact we could be priced out doing so. We have to pay to lease the land and insure the whole park. Not cheap, but hopefully still possible. It would be nice if one of my videos went nuts and generated enough pennies to cover it but I can't see that happening anytime soon haha.

      Being a larger public park it's difficult to take the dogs along- more people, machinery etc - jsut not very do friendly at the moment but I'm hoping they'll be down more often in future. I miss them!

      @@justkeepdigging1956 cool,
      I'm no expert either, but I know a binding agent like chopped straw or grass mixed in the clay will hold it together better.
      it hardens like bricks.
      Don't know if you want brick hard surfaces though.
      clearly you guys are the experts on building lines.
