I think people forgotten that this is Mewtwo’s story. It was never really about Ash trying to stop him. Mewtwo is the protagonist of the movie. In the original Japanese version, Mewtwo was trying to find his identity about whether he’s real or a clone.
I cried so hard in the theater when Pikachu tried to wake ash after becoming stone, incredibly heavy for a kids movie. Truly a memory I will never forget
Pokemon the first movie is surprisingly deep for a kids show and ages timelessly. mew-two just asked what we all ask ourselves at a young age. why do i exist.
Considering that the last thing Mewtwo did under Giovanni's control was to torture Gary Oak and his Pokemon into unconsciousness, Ash was lucky Mewtwo abandoned Giovanni when he did. Otherwise, there's a good chance that, during his gym battle, Giovanni would have taken things to the next step--and seen if Mewtwo would obey his command to kill a human.
Mewtwo is my favorite Pokémon, and he's one of the only ones I find relatable, aside from Lucario from the Mystery of Mew, Zoroark in Master Of Illusion, and a few others. But if Mewtwo is half human, then that makes him my kin.
Personally it's the 2nd one for me, simply because I saw it at an age that I actually remember something about and it had an impact. The flute melody (played by Melody) from that movie still lives rent free in my mind hha. Great video btw!!
When you also watch the movie that comes after this one, the Mewtwo returns one, that is only on DVD as I can remember and actually see the part 4KIDS deleted from the original Japanese movie where you see Mewtwo and a girl. The whole story feels so much more complete, then just seeying this movie in the cinemas or on television. Like, there is so much to be told. And I still feel so sad for Mewtwo and so angry at Team Rocket for what they've done. I wish Mewtwo and his clones wouldn't be so seperated and enjoy live with us. They deserve better.
That part is included in the extended release of the first movie too, I used a few of the clips in this video. But I hadn’t seen it until researching for making this. It’s a real shame it wasn’t included in every edition as it adds a lot of important context to the movie!
I still feel so sad for Mewtwo, I wish I could have helped him. With the right guidance, he would have had a better life and be actually the strongest in the world.
there shouldn't be need to put a spoiler warning on a movie everyone's seen,if you've not seen any of the movies how are they even considered a true fan of the show?
Actually, when I was a child, I did cry a bit, but not as much as I do now as an adult. Somehow, certainly with the original English song Brother my Brother, it just hits so much harder. And then the fact Pikachu actually cries, no everyone cries. I mean it's just impossible not to cry. Certainly if you actually have felt/experienced what losing someone you love means. I for example do not even need to hear anything now and still, cry. It's such a shocking/harsh scene, so painfull/sad, all that useless violence that shouldn't be needed, very interesting to actually see aired in a 4Kids country. I mean. It's just to much.
i really wish they gave us a post story camoaign based on mewtwos movie where we battle his clone mons and he even uses a cloned version of polemon trainer reds teams and onky after we beat that team can we face mewtwo to catch him. multiple phases of him going through his mega forms still losing because he is alone
We really didn't deserve this movie. Pokemon didn't deserve being so sincere.... I remember entering the theater as a ten year old boy, and leaving as something else
Is that a new thing that people say these days? That we don't deserve something? Because it doesn't make sense. Who says kids don't deserve a good movie for their favorite franchise?

Um... ok? I don't know too many people who doubt this.

I'm not crying, you're crying.
Ohhh how I cried!!!!!!! 😢 😭 😢 😭
@@rewerstfd just something about the thunderbolts right now
Mewtwo didnt know about EVs…only IVs.. his new pokemon just needed battle experience
This is a really well made video! Thank you so much!
Thank you!

Mewtwo's plan was exactly what I thought it was.

What is this spooky coincidence, I just visited parents and found an old vhs-tape that I recorded Pokemon 2 on in 2000. We watched it with my own kid.
I almost can't decide if I prefer Pokemon 2000 over the first movie. Both classics for sure

I like the way you say “directly” and also the video too

Great video. Excellent script and narration.
I do question why most the clips are in reverse. Is this a copyright thing?
It’s a copyright thing yeah, Pokémon are particularly brutal with their automatic takedowns!
Thanks for your comment dude, glad you enjoyed the cideo

Such a overanalysation of a children's movie. Loving it.
I wish love and friendship would be real in this world.
it kinda is but not the anime level haxx it is.
Truly loved this movie
Brilliant ❤
If mewtwo is man-made is it really legendary
Do you know what a legend is? Go look up Legendary Pokemon and why they are classified that way.
I wish Pokémon still made movies like this. This movie is more mature, deep and engaging than detective Pikachu… zzz
Literally what is the loint of misty if she can’t use surf….
Second
We need Meowth (the translator) in Gaza.

The movie changed you. Movies these days are mostly surface-level slop compared to such a masterpiece.
