Haha! True, but a lot of guys made it to the Majors playing on garbage....and they followed these tips. I recently saw a ball field in the Dominican. I'll never complain about field conditions again! :)
It was just natural to me to see the ball and be able to move to where the ball is easiest to field and make the play. Because of that, it is very hard for me to teach this to kids. I will make a point to bring these tips up with my middle infielders in my next practice. Thanks for the video!!
This was actually a very helpful video! Still, MLB fields many fewer bad hops since their field look like county club gold courses. But, still, good job, Justin.

Great video, particularly the aggressive part, moving forward attacking the ball will result in fewer errors and keeping the ball in front of you even with a bad hop the ball hits your arm, glove, chest you can make the play or if there is no play stop runners from advancing keeping the ball in the infield..

Ashton Sumpter , yea me too. What I do is work on the tee a lot . People think tees are for kids but even pros use them. Do the tee and work on bat mechanics then go to a cage and use a pitching machine . I'm not a pro but it helps a lot

MLB players see few bad hops because the playing surface is usually flat. Almost all the bad hops I get are due to the shitty infield surface, and there is nothing players can do about that.
Hi, I only have a year til I'm in eighth grade and I only have a year before I move to Arizona and tryout for a baseball team.i but.. I can only really hit I dont have a lot of stamina and fast but I dont think I'm speed. I have little to no equipment to practice with. So what can I do to become better besides just going to batting cages

Finally someone who agrees with fielding w your butt back! I always got in trouble for not having my butt down, but I just naturally do butt back. It works so whateva.
I play 12u cal Ripken in hawaii and the season is coming up soon. The field we practice on is pretty junk so i am trying to get better at reading and ELIMINATING all the bad hops hit to me.

where i live we play on a gravel field so you get hops that just completely turn the ball the other direction. its really annoying

The balls on the ground just simulate where the different hops land (long hop, short hop, tweener). Your goal is to field the ball at either its HIGHEST or LOWEST point
