Amazing to watch this, I remember this race, I was only 3 years old but was there, we were die-hard on the 2.1L Ford Probe, m Pops raced the Ford Pinto 2.3L I currently race in SCCA ITB, that weekend Lyn St. James had let me sit in the Probe of Kalus Ludwig prior to the race of which I still have photos of, I also had Lyn recently sign those photos at Laguna. Great Memories that cemented my love for racing.
I posted this race beause I wanted to post something different. Either tomorrow or Thursday I'll be posting a sprint car race, and then I'll get back to the monster trucks.
Thanks for posting. I was at this race. IMSA GTP cars employed ground effects which were inverted wings inside the side pods. That with turbocharging made for wicked fast cars. Ground effects has been banned everywhere since because these cars were too difficult to drive safely. [edit] and that's the old track before they screwed up Laguna.

I was there. I was there for every pro race at Laguna from the 70s through the 80s. I miss the old track before they screwed it up.
