I always say season 1-4 are great, season 5 is good because the Dorne plot is terrible (I think book wise it's damn near unnecessary though), season 6 is also great, season 7 is good with a few wtf moments, and season 8 is a entertaining mess.
@Fnidner oh no but so many times people like to act like all the seasons after 4 were bad when that's just not even remotely true. If S8 which is bad in comparison to the other seasons is still good TV compared to the landscape
@@King_Mac80 The drop off in quality after season 4 was palpable immediately for me. I knew when that released the series was going to shit, back when most people were still lauding the show. It took until season 8 for the masses to wake up and realize the show turned to utter garbage.

41:32 @redteamreview The Dothraki respawned after the Long Night. Coz even though D&D did indeed say that line in the "Inside the Episode" of S8E3, the very next episode has Varys commenting at the war council that half the Dothraki are still left. So Preston is right that there are still thousands of Dothraki left by the end.
i think in hindsight s8 was all about the demotion and redemption of davos seaworthy the onion knight. he starts out as hand of the king, becomes spiritual guide to the knights watch, then advisor to the warden of the north, ends up on soup duty in winterfell during the apocalypse. overcomes working with his sons and kings killers and has a comeback as lord of ships or whatever, i guess he was always about ships right? the end
I've always assumed the Star Destroyer was a reference to Dan and Dave's plan to hurry GoT so they could go work on a Star Wars trilogy. In the process, D&D messed up S8 so badly that not even Star Wars wanted to hire them.
I wasn't going to watch HotD but when I saw Preston was going to do more Watch videos for it, I changed my mind. So, more content around that series is always a treat for me.
Didn't Denaerys say that she was naming the entire Khalasar her bloodriders? That means they would not ride off to join another Khal but would be duty bound to avenge her death or die trying.
Four years after Talking Game of Thrones, we now have Talking Talking Game of Thrones... ... for those who remember the James Corden bit from the summer of 2015.
Out of curiosity I checked the actual S8E6 script to see if Drogon was buried under ash or under snow. Turns out in the script, he’s not buried under anything, but hidden in plain sight against the blackened rubble of the Red Keep. Dunno why they changed that, they could’ve gotten a visual just as striking without resorting to rule-of-cool nonsense.
I just recently rewatched all the Preston videos on the show and it is still an absolute treat! my first introduction to Preston was his Chad Summerchild video's so it was weird/jarring to see the ones prior to that but i am still surprised just how genuinely funny and well-written and voice acted it all is. i think GOT has finally stopped hurting and i just find it funny now
So to help explain Gendry actually being the Lord of the Stormlands: After Danaerys made that announcement, they sailed down to Dragon Stone. The island is not far from Storm's Landing, they dropped him off and (with dragons flying overhead) the castellan welcomes in Gendry with a feast. By the time Danny dies he's already rallied the remnants of the Storm Lands into an army and he just wouldn't be deposed
What’s funny about Tyrion’s “who has the best story” logic is that it would still be Jon. Jon was able to unite groups that have hated each other for eons to fight a common cause, killed what the show considers a maniacal tyrant before she killed scores more ppl, and turns out to be the first in line to the throne by right.
The showrunners have to say the following about Drogon targeting the Iron Throne (this comes directly from the script): "We look over Jon’s shoulder as the fire sweeps toward the throne-- *not the target of Drogon’s wrath, just a **_dumb bystander_** caught up in the conflagration* ."
The only way I can make sense of the Castellan of Storm's End accepting Genry as his new Lord is that the show was clearly merging the characters of Genry and Edric Storm. Edric Storm is loved by the Castellan of Storms end and the lords of the Storm Lands in general.
I feel Arya should've just stayed to support her sister as the head of a newly independent kingdom that just lost most of their small folk and fighting men. At least as The North's master of whispers/magic assassin she gets to keep using her faceless abilites and actually help out her decimated family.
So, what would stop Queen in the North Sansa from pardoning Jon Snow? Giving him The Twins? Or, to make a show of sort-of abiding to the sentence, naming him the Winterfell Liaison to the Watch, and putting him in charge of developing The Gift area for the Wildlings who don't necessarily want to go BACK to the place they were desperate to leave?? (And why DID the "Free Folk" decide, yeah, let's go back to the arctic land-of-mostly-winter anyway?? Jon already offered them "good land" south of the Wall, and since the North was decimated, Sansa could use a population boost.) Argh, just so much wrong. Brianne should have been Sansa's Queensquard. Arya could have been master of whispers. Yay, girlz rule the North, still sucky but slightly better? They cut the Tysha reveal so the two brothers could still be buddies and Jaime seem more "redeemed" ...despite declaring he would apologize for nothing he'd done in support of the Lannister regime. Good thing Bran just proactively forgave him too. And then they skewered his "redemption" by having him bang Brienne, leave her in tears and go back to Cersei for...reasons. ARGH.
I loved this. I would also love to see your Westworld season two coverage get the same sort of review. Gilbert King. P.s. A White Horse is commonly symbolic of death.
The reason I think Quentyn has to live is that he'll probably be horrifically burned (But alive), and will return to Dorne angry his father sent him out to die, with a vengeance against dragons and fire. So he would be an anti-war anti-dragon and possibly anti-monarch ruler of Dorne who would be opposed to Dany if the other Dornish schemers are taken out of the picture, and might vote for the noble elector thing from the end of the show.
One thing not touched upon enough is that before Dany turned villain a sizeable chunk of the fan base were defending season 8 and were calling out people like Preston for being overly negative for pointing out how terrible the series had become. I think it’s those fans that invested everything into ‘khaleesi’ who threw a tantrum when she did a heel turn is who Peter Dinklage is referring to when he talks of the fan base as they were incredibly vociferous online. The most hilarious/pathetic example was the Freefolk subreddit which was inundated with none stop posts about how awful it all is, how much of a betrayal it all is….for Emilia Clarke, just for Emilia Clarke 😅🤣 not for any other actor, for GRRM, for the fans, no just for by far the worst actor out of the main cast, they even stepped it up and donated money to a brain aneurysm charity and dedicated it to Clarke, a nice gesture for the charity but ffs one of the most pathetic things ever
Okay, let's get one thing straight though. She never said "Sandra", it was just a very fast British pronunciation of "Sansa", as in, "San-ser", the way they turn an A into an R at the end of a word. And I had to put up with Preston's "Sandra" joke for all of those GOT watch episodes thereafter...
They could’ve had their cake and eat it too with the Jamie and Cersie plot just have Cersie scared and running through the castle in the same area the mountain and hound are fighting when Jamie appears at the door sword drawn they look at each other and smile sadly. Cut to the end of the mountain and hound fight show the hound win but the castle crumbles and don’t ever show Jamie and Cersie again but have Tyrion find Jamie’s golden hand in the rubble leaving what happened ambiguous that way fans that want it one way can imagine that and fans who wanted it another way can imagine that.
I dont think its about Bran himself having the Best story its about Bran having knowledge of all the stories and History of Westeros within him which he does since he can travel through time and see and know things. That is why was made King because he has more knowledge than anyone alive. It is stupid he was made King but that is the Reason.
