    Nita makes a good point that should be extended, especially since she mentioned Facebook (ref WSF's episode on probability): in our current data economy behavior information is given away SO THAT it can be used as a commodity which capitalizes services like Facebook via ad networks. The problem is that these corporations ARE corporations, where means all those issues about corporations 'behaving like psychotics' can be applied; if your data is a commodity for a service that doesn't care about you, it has a value which therefore should be collected and OWNED by the individual, not Mark 'ethics' Zuckerberg. Understanding degree of attention is the beginning of integrating empathy into our learning feedback systems and there should be no special influences allowed in that spectrum.

    Look if it’s an ethical issue than it should be left up to the subject in hand.
    It shouldn’t be based off of some pole or a percentage of yes and no’s.
    It should be a personal decision, if you want it, then so be it.
    This needs to be approved world wide.
    It WILL help more people than anybody could ever imagine.
    It’s already approved and in practice overseas in this very moment.
    Cmon America! Get on board! Plzzz 🙏🏼

    So, actually being stimulated at a specific part of my brain by listening and processing the information, this brings a "cost" of not being stimulated in another part of my brain. Can there be something as a wrong stimulation? I guess it is just the chain of thought processes. We do not even clearly understand how each part individually Works, how do we expect to get the whole picture? I got "infected" by thoughts watching this, even though I knew about some of the things presented in this video before, but now I have new mental connections. I find it too hard to express them. Lucky for you, dear reader. Clearly I am focused too much on my inner world than on how to communicate it to the "outside". I guess that is why I am a weirdo, as classified by most people who do not know me. Crap, I just realized a couple of things now. Well... If this is the "product" me writing this comment here, then thanks, me. Good work.

      Yeah, I know the feeling.) Writing really is a good instrument to enhance thinking and insight. I also tried to express some of my thoughts on this video by writing them down in my diary, and doing that I've realised that visualising and operating abstract concepts could be a process, separate from a process of comunicating information (in writing or in speach, to others or to discribe smth better to yourself). And the better these separate pathways are connected (and the more "comunication skillset" is automised to free the mental energy from formulating text and to use it on "jugling" concepts), the more capacity we have for productive and complex thinking. I do not know, how close my gues is to the truth, it would be curious to find out.)
      Also, thanks for sharing your line of reasoning. To witness a process of someone developing a new insight in smth is inspiring.)
      P.S. Could someone please share some more up-to date videos on this topic?)

    WHAT IS THE BASIC PART OF BRAIN NEED TO BE KEPT ALIVE SO ONE CAN SUSTAIN CONSCIOUSNESS ? Example if we can replace/ shred parts of brain for memory, motor, visual etc. what area do we need to keep of the brain alive so the human sense himself as alive?

    • @blazearmoru
      @blazearmoru 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +ameet dmello You cut half the brain out, half the brain is still conscious. Now the question is, given half a brain can be conscious and two halfs can both be conscious but distinct individuals then maybe consciousness isn't [one] thing, but a collection of things like water droplets making up an ocean.

    • @ameetdmello2525
      @ameetdmello2525 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      blaze armoru OMG spot on!! i was thinking the pineal gland would be area for consciousness linked to motor, memory sight etc hence in future once we store memory, replace the oblongata with chips .. only thing for AI we would require is a consciousness (as its a quantum phenomena an would require fragile organic brain wired and linked to micro chips) we really need to know where consciousness lies so we can make humans kindoff immortals. (my goal is to populate the universe) \m/

    • @dangiscongrataway2365
      @dangiscongrataway2365 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ameet dmello only way you can become immortal is to plug your brain into a machine and detach if from the human body, which has some advanced brain life support, other than that I can't thing of a reasonable way of becoming immortal

      +ameet dmello Anyone can be "alive", but to be conscious is what you mean. Being conscious has to do with the quantum connection with the microtubules that you are accessing inside your brain. Do a youtube search for "Stuart Hameroff" and "Quantum Consciousness".

    I am starting a goFundMe page to purchase TDCS units and a large supply of adderall to send to the President and his WH staff. If we could just raise their ability to think to at least the level of a 10 year old, it might be enough to make a difference.

    Interesting watching this 6 years later, where I feel the drugs mentioned have become ubiquitous, the brain stimulation hasn’t moved much, while the ethical questions raised have been buried.
    Also interesting in that we just fired a President who was rumored to be addicted to European Sinus medicine (which has an amphetamine-like effect), while his tenure was rampant with erratic behavior.

    By far the coolest intro to a video ever. But what makes her the judge and jury on what you feel YOU can do to better yourself if in fact that is the case and its not dangerous? We allow people to purchase alcohol and we all know where that leads, but she claims there should be oversight way beyond that of alcohol? Sounds like someone is paying her to play their cards for them.... A well placed half decent looking woman with an above average language skill is yesterday. Lets allow everyone to dumb their selves down but not to increase their capability, really does sound like whoever may be behind this is scared of losing the control they have worked so damn hard to gain. Sickening.

    So what if I have ADD and I take Ritalin and go to university and get through all my classes. I have a prescription and I finish school and I am know a doctor years later. Now I stop taking my Ritalin because it changes how I feel after using it for so many years. Should I still be a doctor? Does the food and drug administration approve of Ritalin? Is not taking this stimulant after using it for many years or weeks or months or days going to change what I have already learned. Is my perceptiveness going to be so much different that I should not be a doctor? Is my "intelligence "not the same? Is it so different than someone who is taking Ritalin that doesn't have a prescription? Then they do not use the Ritalin after finishing school. does this change what they have learned? One question I think of is does improved focus help a person learn. If improved focus helps a person learn then is Ritalin bad for a person who doesn't have a prescription? Is it bad for the person taking medicine because it was prescribed to them? Does the FDA approve? lol so many questions I honestly think all the presuppositions that this episodes programming has is crazy. Nita A. drove me nutz in this program I cannot believe that they would say someone with ADD is CHEATING by using Ritalin. I would continue this rant but I need to get some sleep. I don't understand why their are so many damn likes on this video.

    I wish A.D.D. medication were just a 'skill pill' for me, as well as many people who also take it. Unfortunately, this reminded me of the stigma that comes with not only the disorder but those taking the medication.
    I wish these other methods of stimulation to improve A.D.D. and similar were approved and readily available. I'd love to not have to take medication daily. Hell, I'd love to never have to take any ever again.

    1. Only performing music has a statistically significant quantitative effect. 2. While we perform a task, only specific brain regions are activated. Not even epileptics don't achieve general excitement. General excitement doesn't make you clever (if it's not simply a threshold leveling - threshold leveling is sub-excitement that gets one more ready). The magnetic stimulations aren't permanent or performed at random. Nita doesn't make mistakes, Nita is a mistake. I do not claim we should bombard our brains with magnetism and current. I claim we shouldn't pay Nita's public job for she doesn't read methodically and analytically basic neuroscience (not news about neuroscience). If it isn't her job to study what Americans pay her to judge, then she should change job!

    See,i totally disagree with Nita A. Farahany when it comes to regulation and ethically and morality.It is not up to any institution what is wrong and what is right,it is up to the person itself.People have and always will have differences on that topic and it is thru trial and error that we collectivley adjust it to a standard.US government has forbid cannabis use for a long time yet enabled and even promoted the use of alcohol.Even years after the fact that it knew cannabis does no physical harm and even has positive effects on fighting a large number of illnesses they kept it from the general public,where as alcohol destroy's the body and the brain as we all could see that on any alcoholic yet they where perfectly fine with it,so they could tax the crap out of it at the cost of life's.General consensus for smoking is another good example.Freedom is to make these decisions on your own unless your under 18(i believe its 21 in the usa)in which case your parents are held accountable.If there is a long term benefit or negative effect study's have to reveal that with testing and observations but you can't make rules for this beforehand.You just need to keep the discussion open.If people wanna zap they,re brain that's just fine,and if you think it is not fair towards others that don't do this then it's your own call to live with it or to do the same.This idea of fair is just plain dumb.Life is not fair,that's it.Some ppl are more fortunate then others and we are all different and unique and that's what makes this world interesting in the first place.It is not okay to let parents use it on they're offspring??How can one be a judge over that???If a parent decides they're children needs to learn the bible or quoran as the parent believes it is good,we can't prevent that as much as i personally like to,but it is not up to us is it?or feed it raw vegetables his entire life?We arent in a position to judge that.All we can do is judge over us alone and what effects us alone and suggest these thought's towards others.It is the logical and moral way.

Not tooting my own horn, largely because I feel the results of the fields were at least partially responsible for it but at that same time I was 16 and given IQ test at which point I was accepted into collages because of the results of my results on the test. Perhaps age got to me or something but I feel absolutely no where near what I was when I was younger and the decline felt rather rapid after I stopped messing with the HV EM pulse circuits.

    This woman is frustrating to listen to. Studying in school is not regulated, cannot be compared to sports.

    Poorly timed drone propaganda. Right after the release of how many civilians were being killed in the drone program. Wow I thought this was a decently oriented organization.f

    9/11, missiles and brain training...oh yeah I remember 9/11 and also the aftermath of it in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria...I wonder how many people need TMS and further medical treatment in these countries. It disgust me to see such technologies are developed purely for military purposes and then presented as if they were for a good course. The military guys are being trained to spot targets as soon as possible and the presenter finds it "fascinating"...Disappointing!
