I really hope this show isn't forgotten. Even though the writers screwed over the fans on multiple occasions, this show was great. The characters, the character development, and the music all work together to make the masterpiece that this show always will be
honestly, what pulls at my heart with these soundtracks is the writers ability to be able to throw together merlin and arthur's themes together all throughout these pieces, even the ones that don't exactly have anything to do with one or the other. you can always hear merlin somewhere throughout these pieces, whether it's his sorrow, his jealousy, his grief, his love, all of it. and my favorites are the coming of arthur and the bond of sacrifice. in the coming of arthur, you can hear a conversation between merlin and arthur, unspoken words of loyalty and friendship, knowing that they would do anything for each other. and lastly, in the bond of sacrifice, you can hear merlin picking arthur up off the ground. you can hear the love that he has for his king (platonically or romantically, whichever you fancy) but it's all there either way. you can hear the two sides of the same coin in that song, but most importantly, you can feel the love between a king and his warlock, two complete opposites, and yet the writer is able to show all of the unspoken feelings and thank yous in that piece, and it's heart wretching.
Arthur and Gwen's theme was playing in the background when I read this and somehow this comment moved me to tears, the beautiful words combined with the music... Golly... Thank you for that. That was a moment I want to remember.
This is the most amazing description of the music of Merlin I have ever read. As I am listening to the themes and reading your comment I have goosebumps and my heart is swelling because this is just beautiful beyond description (no pun intended)
crying...this show was incredibly special to me, i remember all those saturday nights, staying up with my family to watch this, still heart-broken from the ending tho :( _this tv show really was pure gold._
It’s 2020 and my heart is still in pieces. This show made my heart, shaped me and then broke me into a million pieces. I always will have a place in my soul for this show. Thanks for making my childhood and adulthood amazing.
I know Arthur's death is really sad, but when the dragon said to Merlin a few episodes before "I'm tired of it all" that just really got to me. Knowing that he was just waiting for his time to lay down.
I think Merlin has got to be my favourite TV show. Its soundtrack, character development, writing and settings are just top notch. I'm disappointed that Netflix just removed it from their site. It's really a masterpiece.
The last episode made me have to rewatch again the first episode S01E01 when the story just begin, Merlin and Arthur first meet. And the Love Theme sound track always remind me to the last episode :(
The bit at the end of the music for Freya’s death is so beautifully haunting. It’s so soft and delicate because it shows when merlin really opened himself up and was vulnerable with his emotions. There is something almost child-like and innocent about the theme, something so pure and authentic. The composers did a beautiful job.
meeeeeeeeee I just finished the last 3 episodes yesterday id been holding off watching them for months because I couldnt bring myself to watch arthur die again
i'm never going to get enough of how they manage to balance the dramatic flair of the orchestration to bring the necessary gravitas to a scene while also making it so...personal with how you can clearly hear every piece contain at least some of other pieces. Particularly the main theme of Merlin, it's EVERYWHERE but done in so many different ways as the show itself shows us all these different sides to him, make him express all these different emotions and experience all these different events, from moments of wonder to pure hardship. Somehow each piece inspires awe in the sense that you feel you are witnessing a legacy, at the same time as it does something deeply emotional and complex, something character-based and, well, there is no better word to describe it that PERSONAL, and it allows for the music to lead you by the heartstrings from one piece to the next without any noticeable break in flow its utter genius

I know I'm really late, but I just finished watching Merlin for the first time today. And I feel as if my heart is broken after Arthur's death. I felt so lost when I finished. I still feel like crying. But I'm still so so so so happy that I found it eventually. It was extremely worth while and I don't think I've cried this much in forever. I just... My heart feels empty... I can't begin to describe how much I love these characters. Thinking about them warms my heart. But then my heart breaks all over when I remeber them... Taking their last breaths or seeing others do so. I LOVE IT AND I'M LITERALLY SO GRATEFUL I WATCHED IT, however I don't think I'll ever recover.
I binge watched the entire series and I have to say that I love this retelling of the Legend of King Arthur immensely! It's simply beautiful. The love that Merlin has for his friend Arthur surpasses any earthly love. Arthur's death was incredibly sad but the sacred significance of it is so powerful. I knew Arthur died as that was in the Arthurian stories recorded by Geoffrey of Monmouth almost 1,000 years ago. The ancient Pagan/"the Old Religion" traditions were incredibly interwoven into the series as well. One of my favorite quotes was Merlin when he appeared as "The Dolma" and told King Arthur "There is no evil in sorcery, only in the hearts of men." It was sad that King Arthur did not have the opportunity to complete his building of the kingdom having magic and sorcery being practiced openly by good hearted people who want to help others and truly create a much better world. That was so tragic but I do see a major glimmer of hope that Gwenevere as Queen would fulfill that last and greatest wish of Merlin and so many others. I'm sure (after Arthur's realization that magic and sorcery can be used for great and good things) Arthur would have wished for that as well.
merlin revealing his magic to gilli will always be one of my favorite scenes. and the music perfectly captures that hopeful yet somber emotion of finding someone like you when you've gone so long thinking you're alone. super underrated scene and soundrack

I just finished watching a week ago. My heart felt so empty after that last episode. The raw emotions throughout the series and especially when Merlin said "I can't lose him. He's.My.Friend." is so touching and heartbreaking. It's more than just a TV show, it's as if I spent years growing up with the characters on this magical journey and made friends with them all - losing Arthur at the end was like losing an arrogant but caring big brother. Though the finale was sad and I'd definitely wish for a happier ending, I have to admit it was the BEST and most beautiful ending possible. I'll always remember "Merlin" as a show that can truly reach to the depth of my heart.
I think Freya's death and burial is really underrated because Freya's death had broken many people's heart and it has made me cry So to be honest I would choose that as my favourite
2022 and this show still stands strong as something I won't forget; even though days, weeks, months, years may go by, does not mean I forget but I simply remember. This is my stamp of remembrance to the fandom and the show :D
There are so many wonderful things about the Merlin series, but the music was so beautifully done! I've watched the whole series through twice and am on my third viewing. It just doesn't get old! Thank you for this wonderful playlist!
Back in the day me and my brother would watch this show together, we had a good childhood watching this show and getting to go on the adventures of merlin. This show will always remimd me of my childhood, and will always have a place in my heart
I certainly did not. I have started watching it again for like the milionth time and I don't feel like I love it any less. I get all emotional every single time.
I may be dramatic but this made me cry so ugly and I'm not over the ending yet. This show was so pure and good at the same time. It makes me happy every time when I rewatch the show, like it's still an adventure for me. I hope I'm not the only one who has the same thought as I have.
No one is talking abt the Masterpiece in 5:20 like wth!!! The way the composers altered the main theme to seem more emotional and triumphant is absolutely INSANE. One of my favourite pieces of music that I can’t get on Spotify! 😔
I still think now in 2023 that this series is one of the best ever produced, soundtracks, scripts, characters, all done to perfection and still after years it can give indescribable emotions

Everybody seems to have forgotten the blonde lady from season 5 that literally brought about half the deaths in that season just for some gold off Morgana Edit: her names Eyra (not sure how to spell that), and what's funny was, after like 5 seconds of her being on screen me and the person watching Merlin were like, "she works for Morgana doesn't she". Guess we were right!
The coming of arthur theme feels like arthur's life.. he was born, strive and become a hero and legend but slowly fades away with innocense in his heart ( which was hurt and broken so much but didnot lose goodness within) near the person who treasured him the best... just like that song slowly starts, rises and fades away with childlike innocense..😢
I'm late to the party too--just finished watching the entire series. Never thought it would appeal--I'm glad I checked it out/was wrong. Full of such love, wonder and beauty. The music was definitely one of my favorite aspects. Thanks so much for posting, for it's hard to keep track of all of the most moving themes!
I'm still here in 2021 and I never realised how much the soundtrack contributed to this legendary series in media history (at least to me). I remember it being my childhood and the sense of discovery is never lost however many times I watch this series. It's truly incredible and thank you for sharing the power its music holds. Long live the once and future king.
I watched this when I was 7-8 years old, and I had no interest in it whatsoever, but 8 years later, I felt a random urge to try watching it again. This is by far one of the best shows I've ever watched, I'd say it's tied with something else as my very favorite show. The characters are so well made, and the way Arthur and Merlin's lines play off of each other is just phenomenal. *RANT WARNING* However, I think there is one small, but very bad bit of writing that made the ending of the show... un-fulfilling. The two main characters alone build such a visibly strong connection to each other throughout the show, and when one of them is suddenly taken away (Arthur), it's too shocking to the audience for it to be a good ending. Usually a story has an intro, a rising action which builds plot, and creates conflicts that should in most cases be solved, or figured out by the end, a climax, and then a falling action which resolves/ finishes of conflicts built in the rising action, and then there's the conclusion. The climax of this show, I personally think, is the battle between Morgana's army, and Arthur's army in that Canyon, because after that is when Merlin resolves one of the main plot points, and conflicts by revealing to Arthur that he has Magic, therefore starting the falling action. My problem here, is that the whole falling action is set in the last 30-45 minutes of the LAST episode. This was not long enough for the viewers to be satisfied with it, because of how long it took to build up in the first place. Almost none of the main plot points were solved throughout the show, but were instead teased every once and a while to the audience, which built up excitement for when that moment actually came. This means that the resolution of these conflicts would have more impact if they were allowed to sit in our minds for at least as long as we had been waiting for them. But instead, they were suddenly thrown at us, and then gone just a few minutes later. That's the only thing that bugs me about the show, and I had to say something about it. Thanks for reading my rant, if you actually made it through, lol. If you have something to add/ criticize, I read all comments.
It's been years and Arthur and Gwen theme and The Burial still remain one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever. Thank you Rob Lane, you are so criminally underrated.
Watched this show 3 times. Always in my heart and will never let go. So heart wrenching. Everything single little thing about it. I love you Merlin. Let Arthur rise when Albion's need is most with Covid. Bless us and I will never ever get tired of this show. Still watching and looking back.

Love this show. I own the complete series on DVD. I just watched it with my mom recently. Its music, story plots makes each episode special and original. The Adventures of Merlin is one of the best TV series I have ever seen. No other show has made me cry more than Merlin has. It has it all: Romance, humor, scary, heartwarming, tearjerker, action and exciting moments. I ❤ Merlin! 😍
I'm studying but I'm crying because Arthur's dead and merlin's immortal and I've watched the whole show five times and this is my sixth time watching it and I'm on season 5 episode 10 and there's only a few more episodes and each time someone dies I cry like I've never seen the scene and each time Mordred stabbing Arthur comes as a shock to me and Arthur's death is an even bigger shock so each time I sob and now I'm crying again. well done, me.😭
In a land of myth, and a time of magic… the destiny of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young boy. His name… Merlin»..a dignified man who in joining with Arthur, the greatest king ever, participated in the most incredible medieval history of all times which is going to be in our memories forever.
Just binged the whole series and loved it. I don’t think I am ever gonna get over Arthur and Gwaines death though 😭 The music in this series is beautiful ❤️
2024 and I still can't get over this show. Rewatching it a bazillion times also didn't help me get over the shows ending lol. Im actually still hurting from it. Lancelots death hurt me, Gwaines death destroyed me, and Arthur's death killed me. And knowing Merlin is still waiting for Arthur to rise up again is depressing as hell, he's been to every loved ones funeral. I need Arthur to rise up and hug my damn boy.

True 🥺💗
I think Freya's death and burial is really underrated because Freya's death had broken many people's heart and it has made me cry
So to be honest I would choose that as my favourite
And what is best think in that, it was only one episode, 40 min to broke fan's hearts. It's kind of record.
Its not fair that arthur got what he wanted (guinevere) and merlin finally found someone he loved and then she died... i wish she was in it for longer
Really ship both of them
stevs ajhdfrvwhjvbckd I absolutely agree
Nothing on the show can hold any emotional weight over the whole Freya's ark. Simply surreal
My favorite TV show of ALL TIME. Can't get enough of it!
I'm truly still not over this show, it took me through an emotional rollercoaster and I enjoyed every bit of it. I could rewatch this forever.
I love Merlin. It is and will ever be the best show in the universe for me. I'm so sad it is over. 😖
It's 2023, and I'm hoping still that one day, we will see next season with the best ending
I really hope so. 🥺
I miss it. 🥺🥺🥺

Its 2022 AND STILL WATCHING MERLIN AND CRY ALL OVER AGAIN
Mordred & Kara's theme is the best.
I don't think anyone's recovered from the death of Authur yet.
I don't think we ever will😭😭
I'm crying soo hard
It shattered my heart into pieces
I literally have not been the same since
I have not recovered,I always avoid watching the last episodes of season 5 cos of that 💔
Childhood nostalgia... every night on TV, I would be so keen to watch Merlin. One of the greatest stories and tv shows out there - a rare jewel
Merlin outlived everyone and gave up his happiness for the betterment of everyone. Probably one of the most tragic characters in fiction.
i will never recover from this series.... arthur will rise when england needs him most
Nostalgia... 2020 already? Life’s gone by, alas. Nothing left.
It’s 2021 now
It’s 2022 now
its 2019 and i still cry every time i hear the gwen and arthur theme
I’m crying rn 🥺😔
2022 and this show still stands strong as something I won't forget; even though days, weeks, months, years may go by, does not mean I forget but I simply remember. This is my stamp of remembrance to the fandom and the show :D
There are so many wonderful things about the Merlin series, but the music was so beautifully done! I've watched the whole series through twice and am on my third viewing. It just doesn't get old! Thank you for this wonderful playlist!
Of course! Glad you enjoyed it:)
One of the best thing happened on the world. Merlin series need more views. This series is masterpiece.
Honestly this music gives me shivers and makes me cry, especially Gwen and Arthur's theme 😍😭
I also love Freya's 😍😭
Back in the day me and my brother would watch this show together, we had a good childhood watching this show and getting to go on the adventures of merlin. This show will always remimd me of my childhood, and will always have a place in my heart
So clean,so decent, very beautiful in every way.... Merlin for me now and forever.
"merlin you are not a sorcerer, I would know" 9:13

I certainly did not. I have started watching it again for like the milionth time and I don't feel like I love it any less. I get all emotional every single time.
me
I may be dramatic but this made me cry so ugly and I'm not over the ending yet. This show was so pure and good at the same time. It makes me happy every time when I rewatch the show, like it's still an adventure for me. I hope I'm not the only one who has the same thought as I have.
Omg me too, the music is so damn powerful to the point where it had me ugly crying, thats how you know Merlin had one of the best soundtracks ever.
@@mariah3053 Agreed
No one is talking abt the Masterpiece in 5:20 like wth!!!
The way the composers altered the main theme to seem more emotional and triumphant is absolutely INSANE.
One of my favourite pieces of music that I can’t get on Spotify! 😔
i know you made your comment a year ago, but it's on spotify now!
@@apothenosis the specific piece at 5:20? Is on Spotify? What name?
@@apothenosis Nevermind I found it now, thanks so much☺️☺️☺️
@@sophiavastra74389 Finale - The Sword in the Stone from series 3 :))
it's so good that it brings happy tears to my eyes, even though I know the series's finale
well that was an emotional rollercoaster
10:37 killed me all over again
I'm crying
It hurts so much god
It hurts, especially the bond of sacrifice
that sound, ladies and gentlemen, was the punch to my bruised gut.
Ugh! *screams in throat* My stomach can't stomach this many feels !!!!
Personally speaking Colin morgan and katie mcgrath both deserves an oscar..
So underated
I have seen all of the merlin and still keep watching because of the wonderful music and the wonderful characters xxx
Best series ever. This makes me sad and happy at the same time.
xLaiiiax x nice pic
xLaiiiax x i love merlin !!!
I still think now in 2023 that this series is one of the best ever produced, soundtracks, scripts, characters, all done to perfection and still after years it can give indescribable emotions
Still crying to this - 2018, anyone else who can relate?
I have a theme songs playlist on Spotify and these are all on it cause they’re literally just so beautiful!! Merlin is for sure my favorite show
The world seemed to be a darker place when Merlin ended...
The most beautiful melody ❤️❤️❤️

@@GooseGodGeb umm.. No I think that's valiant from episode 2 of season 1. I was talking about the druid girl that Mordred likes from season 5.
@@acsahkulasingham8017 Oh, right.
Everybody seems to have forgotten the blonde lady from season 5 that literally brought about half the deaths in that season just for some gold off Morgana
Edit: her names Eyra (not sure how to spell that), and what's funny was, after like 5 seconds of her being on screen me and the person watching Merlin were like, "she works for Morgana doesn't she". Guess we were right!
Destiny Theme!! 9:00 Soooo Beautiful! Sooo Sad!! 😭😭
Jennifer Greaney yes Merlin Arthur💗👍😙👬
makes me cry
I'm literally sitting here trying to write an English paper at 11:30 and sobbing
You right :'(
1:43 I can hear Guinevere saying “I’ve waited for you” and at that time Arthur says “you had to wait only another day”
The coming of arthur theme feels like arthur's life.. he was born, strive and become a hero and legend but slowly fades away with innocense in his heart ( which was hurt and broken so much but didnot lose goodness within) near the person who treasured him the best... just like that song slowly starts, rises and fades away with childlike innocense..😢
2019 and missing this I have found no other show like this
OKAY WHY AM I CRYING AND ITS ONLY BEEN 30 SECONDS INTO THE VIDEO BRB GONNA GO WATCH THE WHOLE THING AGAIN
update: i’ve literally been binge watching it and i’m finished all 5 seasons i’m sad
*RANT WARNING*
However, I think there is one small, but very bad bit of writing that made the ending of the show... un-fulfilling.
2019 August and I can’t get over this still
I love merlin I miss the Serie so much😢💓
one of my very first shows i ever watched.............so many feelings...........

IT MAKES ME CRY
I LOVE ITTTT :'(((((
I know...that song is the best/worst. :'(

Lyra Moore yes
Love this show. I own the complete series on DVD. I just watched it with my mom recently. Its music, story plots makes each episode special and original. The Adventures of Merlin is one of the best TV series I have ever seen. No other show has made me cry more than Merlin has. It has it all: Romance, humor, scary, heartwarming, tearjerker, action and exciting moments. I ❤ Merlin! 😍
I'm studying but I'm crying because Arthur's dead and merlin's immortal and I've watched the whole show five times and this is my sixth time watching it and I'm on season 5 episode 10 and there's only a few more episodes and each time someone dies I cry like I've never seen the scene and each time Mordred stabbing Arthur comes as a shock to me and Arthur's death is an even bigger shock so each time I sob and now I'm crying again. well done, me.😭
Well technically he’s not dead, he’s sleeping in Avalon and will return one day.
My childhood is in these beautiful and nostalgic songs. Forever waiting for the return of our King. Thanks! ❤
Wow! When 6:40 hits I get goosebumps
In a land of myth, and a time of magic… the destiny of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young boy. His name… Merlin»..a dignified man who in joining with Arthur, the greatest king ever, participated in the most incredible medieval history of all times which is going to be in our memories forever.
I finished watching “merlin” a week ago and discovered that there is nothing else the same as Thai program ! Someone make more like this !!!
Back in golden age BBC era, along with Ecclestone and Tennant’s Dr Who. Was a very good time to be a kid
It's 2024...Still these sound tracks made a masterpiece❤❤💫💫
Just binged the whole series and loved it. I don’t think I am ever gonna get over Arthur and Gwaines death though 😭 The music in this series is beautiful ❤️
GWAINEEEEEE😭
2024 and I still can't get over this show. Rewatching it a bazillion times also didn't help me get over the shows ending lol. Im actually still hurting from it. Lancelots death hurt me, Gwaines death destroyed me, and Arthur's death killed me. And knowing Merlin is still waiting for Arthur to rise up again is depressing as hell, he's been to every loved ones funeral. I need Arthur to rise up and hug my damn boy.
Watching this show as a kid I never realised how good it was and there was such a cult following behind this series
Everytime I hear this music it makes my heart skip a beat ..... music has never done that to me before ..... wish I was part of this programme in that time and place with such wonderful actors ...... definitely magical xx
Thank you so much , I love this serie
The theme (motif?) for Gwen & Arthur stans side by side amongst the greatest tunes every created in my opinion...
Absolutely stunning. That Final Arthur theme always makes me emotional :(
Whose here in 2021?I miss Arthur and Merlin so much.I like this show so I watched again and again. It never makes me feel boring and wants to immerse in this series forget everything things else.
