- 102 years ago, Merthyr Tydfil had some unique visitors! This film was captured on the day of the 'Tank Bank' event held at Merthyr Tydfil.
The video has narration from newspaper reports at the time to highlight what happened on the day.
Cyfarthfa Castle Museum and Art Gallery were given use of this footage by the late Alan George. Alan painstakingly recreated this footage from the original film reel still held in Merthyr Tydfil. Without his commitment and passion for history the footage would have been lost and we would not have been able to bring it to you.

the man on the tank with the moustache is named john collins, he was my grandfather and was a merthyr man who participated in this parade on the julian tank shortly before or after being rewarded by king george the V
