2 years later after this came out and I am thinking of purchasing a Maverick tomorrow. I find your tuning guides very helpful & very thorough. I watched your air Venturi before I purchase that air rifle and although I already have avenge X Tuning guide. There's always stuff to learn/get better at so thank you. You've taught me how to tune my air rifles.
Thank you Sir for taking your time to put out this great information for new fx maverick owners. I am sure it will save many people time and frustration with this go to guide, best explanation on tuning i have seen yet. Thanks for your work.
But a very special shout out to you kind sir. For putting this video together. You my friend have given me the information needed in order to properly own this rifle.
I purchased a .25 Maverick Compact from SPAW (Southern Precision Air Weapons) and I must say what Steve is illustrating is spot on. This compact performs accurately and smoothly and mimics its 700mm accuracy in a short compact version.
I put my brand new maveric sniper exactly set for your recommended settings for the fx 26 grain slugs, and it has that tuned sound and is hitting on point! 13 squirrels down the first day, with just your settings. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME! MUCH APPRECIATED! RICK.
I waited until I got home to watch this on my 65 inch curve screen. This is a excellent review. Your quality is unmatched. I think I will purchase this in the VP, or compact. God bless you brother and your family. 🎯👍
Sir this video is pure gold. I bought a used FX Maverick .25 Sniper with STX Slug Liner, Optisan Optics EVX 6-24×50, 3 magazines, extra 500mm barrel kit barrel kit and Donny FL Fatboy1.0 moderator, oh and I had a carbon liner added for free. All for $2100. I think that a FX slug power kit is probably installed as well. But I will get that confirmed. For pellets I will tune the 500mm barrel. It’s genius actually because whomever owned the air rifle before me considered both slugs for long range and pellets 100 yards and under.
Hi guys, I have to get this off of my chest. I’ve watched countless hours of other TH-camrs like Matt Dubber, Gerhard, Earnest Rowe and Ted’s Holdover. Truthfully I’ve learned very little from those channels as they are competition shooters and guard tuning advice at all cost. Steve has saved me countless hours by explaining the FX Maverick and the FX impact. Steve if you read this comment two things. Please revisit the valve adjustment on the M3 and make another video that explains it clearly. Because on your FX impact video we were all confused. And if you get the time we would love a similar video as this one for the FX M4. Thanks in advance
Massive work there Steve! 👍 The quality of this review is amazing! Lots of informations and tips! I see that you take great time to do all this for us and it’s very cool!
Thank you so much for this video!!! My Maverick is showing up tomorrow, this will be my first PCP and I am excited to start learning, this is base for me to start with.
It was my pleasure meeting him and his wife at RMAC. They are the power plenum and power block couple in this field😏. Thank you man for taking the time to talk to me.
Whoa Steve, that could be your best video yet! So much great information that almost any Maverick owner will be set! You’re saving a lot of people, a bunch of tuning time with all of this information. Props to you, I know it was a ton of work! Thank you! Stoti
Fantastic work Steve! I have a newly purchased Maverick Compact .25 cal. Can’t wait to try out the 25.39 tune! Can’t believe the reg is set so low yet it pushes at such a good speed! Incredible!!! I’d also like to see if I can shoot the hybrid or the NSA 26.8 out of the Compact as well. Any recommendations on the reg settings? Is it even possible to have one reg setting and use the power wheel to adjust between the pellet and the hybrid (or NSA 26.8)? Thanks in advance! Keep up the great work man!
Keep in mind when tuning your air gun that the more power you want to make the harder it will be to get sub 10fps ES’s. My marauder and dreamline are 5-6fps ES making 40 and 45ft/lbs. my 80ft/lb impact is usually around 14-15fps ES. If I pull the power out of my impact I can get the ES even lower than my other two guns. What a great sport/hobby, AEAC bringing the big brain again!
I am running 29 grain nsa slugs at 1020 fps with 175/150 on the regs. I was able to achieve this power with the second regulator at 135 or 140 but i found increasing the reg but lowering the hammerspring tension to get the same velocity was more quiet, the shot appeared less violent and accuracy improved.
Steve great to see someone finally dispel the myth of velocity variation, a spread of 25 won't even give 1/4 moa but a damaged skirt will. Am curious to know if you were using the heavy hammer from the slug kit or the stock one. From what I have found if the heavy hammer is installed you have to greatly increase the reg pressure or the valve is basically knocked into next week. That said , with one ,165/130-140 seems to work well as an all round tune for pellets and up to medium slugs from the Superior standard liner . The higher pressure producing more energy with less air thus the shot count is still retained and an accurate harmonic tune can usually be found with the power wheel for each projectile. One thing that might have been worth covering is how the fine adjustment screw actually works. If you extend it much past 6mm you have a high probability the gun won't cock and if you have it in too far you will have no additional pre-tension on the first couple of power wheel settings ( velocity won't change as your increase PW value initially). Also the Friction grub screw has a tendency to come loose and fall out of the hammer fine adjuster assembly and some weak locktite is well worth a dab. Its the one area that the manual thoroughly fails to cover, giving neither the OEM length or guide to the max length. Sorry if I'm being a boring geeky ar*e
Had the same issue w/ the friction grub screw coming loose on my .30 Sniper...was chasing ghosts for 30+ minutes on velocity drops till I figured that out
Hello, I talked about it in vid several times for you guys and in depth but no, I never saw a need to try the accessory heavy hammer kit. Regarding the internal HS adjuster as I discussed in the vid, I never saw a need to adjust it more than about 3.5 turns to run flat from 45-72 fpe. Because of this, I found no need for further exploration. Best, Steve
@@aeacvlog2033 hi Steve I know you mentioned quite a bit about it and personally think leave more or less alone is the answer. It was more what can happen when you over adjust one way or another as a caution I was meaning. Will also try out a few of your ballpark tunes thanks for putting in the time.
hi thanks for your video. I have now found the perfect setting for my Maverick Compact cal 25 thanks to you. reg 1 - 130 bar, reg 2 95-100 bar.jsb 25.4 gr. I now shoot for 270 ms and it is effective with the air. it took many shots before I got to the right position. the difference was to screw very carefully on the internal hammer screw. then shoot from position 4-7 to be able to set the hammer screw again. repeat it again until you were satisfied. grettings from sweden
This is a “Grail” level gun. There are a lot of people that do reviews, but I have to say, none give as much information in an enjoyable/non boring format as yours. Keep up the great work! Is there any way that you could do a review on the Benjamin Akela?
Hi Lee. What else would you consider as an affordable grail gun ? I own a Hatsan AT-44, Nova Star, Gauntlet, and an HW100. I like them all, but want to know what is "best" for accuracy at 25-100 yards. My Nova Star is awesome.
Benjamin said they may have something for me later in the year but that's all they said. They just had another management change there again, so it may be a some time before they reach out for another project with me. Best, Steve
Another home run Steve! I have the Maverick Sniper in each of the 700mm configurations, .30, .25, .22. I just got around to setting up the .22 and literally followed along allen wrenches in hand and was able to set up a great tune for the 25.4 Redesigns as well as the 18.13 JSB in a matter of about an hour (slow learner I guess)! by following along with your tutorial...Your write up on AGN is fantastic to be able to refer back to general steps in the process. Your Crown Conttinum video was my first real foray into custom tuning and was blown away by the results and have used that as a guide for my MK2 Impact/MK3 Wildcat tunes and this Maverick tutorial is a great lead in to the M3 Impact setup as well... Great work and very much appreciated. Dr. Mike Long
Big thank you for a great instructional video, exceptionally helpfull. Just a querry with regards Internal Hammer Spring setting - how do you determine 0 point? How do you determine the max/ min setting? I take counter clockwise increases the tension- FPS.
Hi Steve, In talking to RapidAirWorx about the R.A.W. HM1000x LRT .22, they said it comes tuned to shoot a 25.39 grain pellet at approximately 960 fps. My friend bought a BRK Ghost .22 HP that came from the factory shooting a 25.39 grain pellet at 973 avg fps. He has since brought it down to 960 fps and it is a laser. And I just watched a TH-cam video on the Skout Epoch where it said you would get your best .22 groups shooting a 25.39 grain pellet between 950 and 960 fps. What’s up with the 25.39 grain pellet in .22 running 950 to 960 fps? Can you suggest a tune for my FX Maverick .22 Sniper 700mm to shoot a 25.39 grain pellet between 950 and 960 fps so I can see for myself? Thanks!
Hi Billy. Just follow the tuning instructions provided in my NEW "Ultimate Tuning Guide" video and it will show you how to tune any airgun for any situation. Getting the 700mm to those velocities with the 25gr will be easy for ya. Best, Steve
I got my Dreamline Tactical .177 to a point where my 22 shot string was average speed 902, spread 7, STD dev 2.0. With 10.34 gr JSB Hades. Reg at 100bar, Transfet port Medium and hammer spring adjuster (neutral cam) at 4. At 40 meters CTC was 20mm. At the moment I'm pleased, but interested, what other pellets would do. I tuned my gun for Hades, cos it is my go to hunting pellet (pigeons).
Hello Steve, thanks for the detailed tuning guide. When you say 0 on your IHS, are you literally turning it all the way clockwise until it stops and leaving it there? And then all your adjustments start from there counter clockwise correct? I have the Maverick Sniper version and am seriously contemplating getting the compact barrel and bottle. Those STD Dev. Spreads are amazing on the compact! Thanks again for your info, that is a lot of time you are spending. I’ve done half the work as you testing tunes for slugs and accuracy tests and it takes hours!
Hi! No, I mean that I haven't adjusted it from factory settings. For exact measurements on the IHS, check out my Maverick full review on my other TH-cam channel. I provide them there for each shot chart. Just understand, it's better to seek yourself rather than duplicate. You'll get a better result. Best, Steve
GM Steve I just purchased the Maverick in .30cal. So I … Need … Your Help Sir. Internally I added the (Tungsten Hammer) I still have the (Stock Spring). Gonna be Shooting the Varmint Knocker’s 50grn slugs, and the FX Hybrids 44.5grn slugs. In your Learned Opinion, what would be the Best Tune …. With A Decent Shot Count ??? Thanks Brother …. Looking Forward To Hearing Your Answer.
Dude ubsaw how long this was and I was like no way I'm sitting through that. Well I sat through it and loved it!! I have a .25 Maverick Sniper and I absolutely love it! Will be replacing my older gages though!
Steve how are you this is a great video Know why? I was In the market for FXM3 and they’re delayed 3 to 5 months so I looked at the day state delta wolf and you have to get on a list for that one so I decided to go with a maverick and now you’re putting out this video perfect timing thank you have a great day
I was wondering where you have been, now I know ! GREAT information as always, but being a Maverick owner, this one was special for me for sure. You spent some serious time on bringing the BEST information available. Thank you for your dedication to the sport. As always, I look forward to the next one ! And your dog filling in while you where away was a special intermission . :-D ...
Thank you for these informative videos. I just received the new Wildcat MkIII BT sniper. While I need to shoot if before making any decisions I was a bit taken aback that the rifle I ordered with all the slug attachments/kits and an assortment of mid 30gr slugs was tuned by the seller for 25gr pellets with 910fps at 5 on the power wheel. When going through the owners manual looking at these adjustments I was surprised to see the book doesn't match the rifle, for some reason the manual for the Wildcat has reg adjustments for the Impact M3 and they are no where near the same in how the adjustments are made. The tuning vid FX has on their channel doesn't match these new rifles either. After a little research it appears that the Maverick and the BT sniper are using the same or very similar style dual reg and 89cc plenum set up. This video may be very useful in the near future.
Great work Steve! I've learned a lot from your video. I have the Maverick .22 compact but I've noticed that i couldn't hear that sip of air between shots, is there something wrong with my gun? Reg 1 at 140, reg 2 at 110, thanks
Hi Steve,i have a MAVERICK sniper on .22, all perfect until now, when ever o shoot now, a massive air flow hits my face and wont go truth the barrel, checked valves and oring, and even lubed them and the problem is still there, any idea what it can be? Thanks alot!!
Steve, I bought an FX Dream pup and the regulator pressure adjustment valve is partially covered by the stock, not allowing me to make adjustment without removing the stock. (which is what the tech at Utah Guns told me I have to do) When I asked if I could us a rotary tool to cut away just enough of the plastic stock he said it would probably void the warranty, I asked if I could turn the cylinder enough to allow access he said it wouldn't be sealed properly, WHAT do I do? Should I just leave it alone?
Did you pre adjust the micro adjuster so that the macro adjuster did start to put tension on the HS from position "1" and so forth, and didn't have any slack to start with? I've seen videos when the macro adjuster didn't start to put tension on the HS until you reached "2" on the macro wheel.
It's a floating hammer system so the hammer and spring are never under tension until the gun is cocked (no matter the setting). But no, I never tuned as you describe. For further detail of my methods, check out the srickied posts on the AGN forum. I've been answering a lot of questions there. Steve
Great video thanks Steve... you do a great job.. even if you geek out and we struggle to understand some thing at times... I have a question.. I'd like know.. is the maverick way better than a crown.. and are these more complex guns like the maverick going to be more prone to break down problems? As we don't ever realy hear anything about the failures
The Crown is the better gun in my opinion but the Maverik has more power potential. I've seen the Crown on the podium several times but never the Mav... I think of the Maverick as more of a big-power hunter. Now of course we've got the new King... the Crown body with a Panthera engine. Yikes! 😁 Steve
@AEAC yea ok that's interesting.. I was thinking the maverick might be easier to tune as I still struggle a bit with the tuning of the hammer wheel videos on the crown... It seems like most people are maxing it out before tuning it back and others do it a different way ...and you make the maverick tuning vid seem so easy... and we don't seem to see other videos from other reviews with the same accuracy even at 50 as you have achieved... I will be shooting sparrows after all ... I don't know what is so special about the panthers.. but in the grs stock it's over 4 grand here in Australia. so it's a no thank you very much... when a crown and a maverick is about $2500.. so is the panthera the better rifle and why?
Another great job Steve!!!! I purchased the Wildcat MKIII 600 mm VP in .22. It’s pellet on pellet right out of the box shooting the FX 18.13. I’d like to try the FX 25.39 gr. Do you hav any suggestions on the velocities?
Man you are the best. All your reviews are very detailed. I just order the maverick vp in .30 cal, what regulator pressure do you think will work the best. I want power but at the same time shot count and accuracy. A combination of everything if it make sense. I will be shooting the fx hybrid slugs 44.5 grains. Please keep doing those reviews I wish I was your neighbor lol. Thank you.
Steve loved your video and all the work you put in to inform us on the tune of the Maverick .25. Watched it like I was back in college and my professor was giving a lecture 🤣 but I have to ask, is there any way you can do the same for the Wildcat Mk3 Compact but in .22 caliber? I know that it's actually a Maverick but everyone on TH-cam for the Compact .22 say 1rst reg 180 and second reg 150. Which shot count sucks and the gun works so hard with for me making me think it's not harmonically tuned. So Professor, if you have or get the time we who are loyal students 🤣 would appreciate your feedback, input call it whatever you like🤣 but please do share since everyone is only tuning .25 & .30 cal's and the little guy is left behind the class 😢 once again I, we, thank you for all the time and hard work you put in all your video's and can't whate for the next one.
When will 30cal pellets be available? Or where can we get them.....kalibrgun 25cal or this maverick..it wasn't available at the time so I bought the uragan 30cal, super accurate..good video and information as always
I just watched this entire video. Do I own a maverick yet? No. When I buy one, will I Watch this again with it in my hands? Yes. Do I need a great deal of help psychologically and with tuning my gun? Yes. Ps, this isn’t the first of your videos I’ve watched. Thank you for your time and all the help. (That I will need when I have the gun) I’m leaning maverick sniper 30 cal. Maybe buying a 22 conversion down the road if I need to.
Hi Steve, just wondering. I recently tried the JSB 25,34 Gr Exact with the standard reg setting as they come from the dealer. 111-114 bar on the second regulator, first regulator I don't know for now (Then I need to do the whole exercise to first open second regulator to see pressure of the first regulator etc.). I just put the PW3 and got almost the same values of speed and power as with your 95/70 tune, PW2, IHS=0. However it took a a few shots to stabilise the speed, or would the spread become much higher because of the high first and second reg pressures?
Hello. I've recently released two "Ultimate Tuning Guides" and both would be a really good watch to help with your questions. They'll teach you how to balance things out within your Maverick for good harmony between the regs and valve settings. Best, Steve
@@AEAC thx Steve. Good video's, very clear :-) There is one thing that still is a little strange. I try to use the 25gr JSB tune 95/70, pw2, ihs0. I get speed of 840 on average. Now I have the regs on 115/85 and I am around 876. I have the Maverick .25 sniper, 700mm, superior twist x barrel, DonnyFL FX suppressor. It's a big difference from your reg pressures, any idea why that is?
So at the top of each tune chart we're is says bar... is that what Steve is only filling the gun to for each tune?? If so I thought your regulators took care of the tune... so why not just fill the gun each time??
We live in Florida, so 25 yards isn't a waste of time guys who say Steve is wasting time at that range...squirrel, rabbit, racoon, turkey, or quail you can easily find those at 25 yards or closer...
I should add that I don't believe they meant it maliciously... the audience is just sometimes quick to point out that 25 yard results don't normally equal 50 & 100 results, and they would be right. I've just been doing it for so long now, I can often tell what will hold together at 50 when I shoot at 25. Not always though. Best, Steve
Steve really nice video, one quick recommendation is to use TH-cam Chapters, so we can quickly jump from section to section. Thanks a lot for putting this together
I was going to say some things about the Impact but I figured I'd better not do that since I'm going to buy the another FX gun. The Impact is a complicated gun it's a lotta work but I did shoot it the other on 15th of July, & it kept most of the groups within an 5/8-3/4" and 1"-1.25" with the 700mm barrel. That's really not that bad I was shooting @ about 28-30 yards. I was also using the Donny FL moderator it was an unmarked moderator. Meaning It doesn't have a name like "SUMO" written on it. By the way I will buy another Moderator from Donny FL for my 600mm .30 cal barrel; asap. The Donny FL moderator is working great; when the Impact still holds 3/4"- 1" & 1" - 1.25" groups; w/ moderate winds.
What would you set the maverick .30 700mm barrel at for shooting fx 44.8 pellets? First and second regs for starters, I know it will need fine tuning. It was set up for compact, then I pit a 600mm .22 now I'm wanting to set it up for .30 sniper!
Great video Steve and thank you! It really helped to connect the content from other sites/channels. It sounds like the M3 tuning could land the same time mine does. 🏁
love the tutorials I have a fx maverick sniper and it came with fx 34 grain or jsb pellets tune on 7 at about 890 fps and a hair over 100 rear reg im very inclined to these tuning options but you seem very good at this and in your onion should i mess with this set up i'm also getting 960's using H & N baracuda cross point at about 28 grains also i have an atx 4k pro scope so i have the option of different profiles for distance and pellets ect... whats your thoughts any input would be great even just to educate myself , thank you for any help
I always just let the gun tell me what it wants. Your setup and style of shooting will have a "tuning sweet spot" that ya need to find for optimal performance. Best, Steve
Man Steve, you sure put on a great review....I will admit I didn't jump on the Maverick band wagon but literally took the exact setup process you mentioned and applied it to my Impact M3 and spot on! I am by NO means a tuner but if you just follow the steps you lay out it makes me look like Ernest Rowe (ok, maybe not but you get the idea)!! All airgunners should take note as you have the initial 98% laid out and a bit of trial and error and it just comes together... Damn fine job. Dr. Mike Long
There is a difference but they are interchangeable. The front gauge reads to 300 bar for reading the bottle's 250 bar fill. The rear gauge reads to 200 bar for greater resolution when tuning the regulators. Steve
Thanks for your input.. I just recently got a maverick… now it time to adjust the trigger…and I can’t find a vid to assist me….. I’m hoping you’ve done a vid on that topic….. Thanks
I think about it all the time, lol.. having the time is a different matter. Good point though... I believe a .30 tuning guide is probably long overdue. Best, Steve
What kind of airgun shoots longer and is more effective at long distances. Fx3 impact or Fx Maverick (sniper) Can you answer me honestly about that. It is incredibly difficult to get an honest answer from those on TH-cam who have posted videos about FX 3 Impackt and FX Maverick. I need to shoot 300 - 400m to kill with cal 25 or cal 30. Which air rifle of the two is better for 300 - 400 m shooting. Maverik can be regulated, they say, and Impackt can be tuned, so what should one choose for 300 - 400 meters in cal 25 - 30??? Please give me an honest answer so I don't buy the wrong one. I have tried shooting with both at a dealer, but it was only at 50 m and there was no difference between the two airguns.
Me encanta tus vídeos un saludo desde España. Cuál sería la regulación para el 5.5 de maverik? Suelo tirar jsb ko 1.640g o rediseñado 1.650g .los suelo llevar a 100 y 140. Muchas gracias. De los reguladores me refiero
Valid! There were indeed those promises made but the dates got pushed back on me twice for whatever reason. I was to see the m3 around January... then again around March/April... but never did. That all said, I actually received TWO m3 rifles this week 😃 along with a ton of barrels and other various FX accessories. I received a bunch of K&L accessories for them too. So here's the current schedule... Barra 400E (that I'm working on now) then 2 factory tour videos (Diana Germany and FX Sweden again)... THEN I'll begin on the m3. I expect to be on the gun 2 months or so and to make 4 videos at least (review, tuning guide, hunting trip, and Q&A). All 4 vids will be released on my other YT channel AEAC Home, not this one. October/November will likely be my 2 months on the gun. Hope this helps! Take care, Steve.
Just bought and waiting for my sekhmet I take it that you have to degas the gun first Steve,be nice if you showed a vid on how to install one as there is no vids on TH-cam on how to.thanjs for your hard work and enthusiasm keep up the good work.👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Steve I've see guys now shooting slugs to 1100 fps with crazy accuracy... could you try this for your fans and see what results you can get with the maverick... in 22 and 25 please 😅 will the maverick go that fast?
Hi Danny. Check out today's new tuning guide release... may have ya second guessing that high velocity but yeah sure, I'll try someday. Take care, Steve
Thanks for this great vlog steve ! How do i find the point you called "IHS 0" i lost the position because of to much turning the adjustment screw. The shot strings are now jumping around 30fps up and down and the velocity isnt constant anymore. Have you an idea how to find the perfect harmony between Reg and HS ? Thanks for any help
The Impact cost $400 more and is $400 "more gun" if that makes sense. So if money wasn't a factor, the Impact is the clear way to go. Although the Mav is capable of a tad more power. Best, Steve
Hey Steve, As a new guy to FX I have just purchased a new FX Maverick in .25 calibre. Before delivery to me I asked the retailer to adjust the FPE to '60', Not too sure if this was done!!!!!! The rear air gauge shows 60 bar, while the front gauge is at 250 bar & hammer spring is set at '7'. I have yet to chrono, but the various videos on TH-cam show quite different settings!!!!! Does this sound OK to you! Can you help ?
Hi James, honestly 60 bar sounds super low on the rear most reg pressure. I'd recommend a thorough watching of this video and my late tuning guide video with PJ Clarke so that you can learn how to go about creating a good tune for yourself. Best, Steve
Hi Steve. I bought maverick .177 calibre in compact . I'm planning to get 600mm and 700mm barrel kit in .25calibre. I'll be shooting jsb heavies 33.9 not past 25-30 meters but I want to shoot it to maximum velocity as I'll be shooting pigs .what are your suggestions ? Thank you
Thanks for the vid very interesting. I do not have a Maverick but I wonder if this mid level settings will work on my M3? I might have to give it a try.
Hey Steve I'd like to get one of the Sekhmet gauges for my M3. Is there a difference between the stainless and the brass other than color, Maybe stainless more durable or would it even matter Thanks, Bob
Steve, first things first. THANK YOU for doing what you do. I've done a lot of tuning and I can't help but appreciate what you are doing for so many. On this video, would you say it would apply to the .22 cal? Do you prefer the .25 over a .22 for iguanas and why? Thanks again.
Thank you Sam. I appreciate that. Absolutely the lessons here would apply to tuning the .22 but the tunes would probably be different. If it were me,, I'd begin with a low reg pressure of around 70 bar and go from there. For me, .22 would be more than enough for Iguana out to 100 yds with this gun. I don't see any advantage to going .25 other than some wind resistance. Steve
Hello. IHS means "internal hammer spring." It's best not to copy the tune but to try to apply the teachings & approach in this video and apply them to your specific rifle. Better yet, follow the teachings in my most recent tuning guide," Ultimate Tuning Guide" over on my other TH-cam channel, AEAC Home. It's a MUCH more evolved guide and will take you through tuning step by step as well as teach you the why, so that you can have success on your own. Best, Steve
Hey wondering if you could help me with my first FX rifle! Have the VP in .22 and your video has been very helpful but I’m having trouble tuning for 23gr NSA and patriot slugs. Trying to get it it around 950 for longer range hunting but my velocities seem to be all over the place. Any tips on where to start with the power wheel and micro adjuster?
Hi Steve, Thanks for the great work! I must have spent hours watching your video's… :) Forgive me my ignorance, but is IHS the fine adjustment setting for the hammerspring? And if so, what's the take-off point? It being turned all the way in? If so, I'm definitely going to try out some of your tunes. I've tried several different slugs, but it's been really frustrating so far. Kind regards,
Yes, the IHS adjustments are for the "Internal Hammer Spring." The best way to search for the setting is by implementing the methods described in this video, however I do share my MM measurement findings for each tune in my my full review of this gun. Watch that vid and you'll have them. I wouldn't recommend tuning that way through... that's not the right way to go about it. Best, Steve
1:05:29 you say; "open Clockwise" if I'm not mistaken, you open the reg counter Clockwise and that is how you are showing us a few seconds later. Or did I misunderstand that?

Yo Steve! I’ve had to watch this video 3 to 4 times to completely get this information. I appreciate it even more each time I watch it.
Great to hear, thanks!!
I put my brand new maveric sniper exactly set for your recommended settings for the fx 26 grain slugs, and it has that tuned sound and is hitting on point! 13 squirrels down the first day, with just your settings. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME! MUCH APPRECIATED! RICK.
lol, my pleasure. glad it helped.
👍😊
Always the best review on TH-cam 🙏
I just figured out why there's no pellets, Steve has them 🤣😂 4 testing, 5k pellets through the maverick
They do pamper me in terms of quantity. Sorry guys, lol. Steve
Thank you so much for this video!!! My Maverick is showing up tomorrow, this will be my first PCP and I am excited to start learning, this is base for me to start with.
Start with my new "ultimate tuning guide video," it's much more evolved than this one. Best, Steve
@@AEAC thank you! I’ve watched that one as well, along with probably half of your library 😂😂, thanks for all the great content.

Thanks brotha! I really appreciate the kind note. Best, Steve
That hasn't been my experience but thank you for sharing yours. Best, Steve
Good information thanks , i have some 24 , 27 and 38 gr slugs to try
Best, Steve
@@vetteconnoisseur9531 My macro wheel screw backed out a bit few times too. I didn't mind though.

Great share, thank you! Greetings back!! Steve

Thank you for the nice note Dr. Long. Steve
Big thank you for a great instructional video, exceptionally helpfull. Just a querry with regards Internal Hammer Spring setting - how do you determine 0 point? How do you determine the max/ min setting? I take counter clockwise increases the tension- FPS.
Your job in all of your videos is amazing. Thank you Steve
Hi Steve, great as always, if possible, do a full review of the FX Impact M3.Thank you.

Ok so this is very helpful video... but biggest question I have is how do you know when to adjust the hammer spring and why ???
Best, Steve

Thanks! Next FX scheduled for a review & guide is the m3. Best, Steve

Hi Steve. I would reach out to FX USA directly and let them help you through this. Best, Steve
Awesome video! Thank you. What bipod is that (maybe I missed it)?
@AEAC thanks for the fees back... do you know if there is a 800mm barrel for the maverick?
Another great job Steve!!!!
I purchased the Wildcat MKIII 600 mm VP in .22. It’s pellet on pellet right out of the box shooting the FX 18.13. I’d like to try the FX 25.39 gr. Do you hav any suggestions on the velocities?
Thanks!! I'd try 860 to 910 with that pellet. Best, Steve
Thank you.
Hi. I did a tuning guide on a Dreamline .30 that may be helpful to ya... principles would be pretty much the same. Best, Steve

To me the maverick is the best bang for your buck air rifle on the market. Sure it’s expensive but you get what you pay for.
We live in Florida, so 25 yards isn't a waste of time guys who say Steve is wasting time at that range...squirrel, rabbit, racoon, turkey, or quail you can easily find those at 25 yards or closer...

@@kevine9986 ok
I should add that I don't believe they meant it maliciously... the audience is just sometimes quick to point out that 25 yard results don't normally equal 50 & 100 results, and they would be right.
Thanks for sharing. The Donny FL Ronin moderator is available at SPAW. Best, Steve

Is there a difference between the front gauge and the back gauge on the Maverick? Are they interchangeable? If there is difference, what is it?
There is a difference but they are interchangeable. The front gauge reads to 300 bar for reading the bottle's 250 bar fill. The rear gauge reads to 200 bar for greater resolution when tuning the regulators. Steve

In my experience here in the U.S. based major competitions, the M3 is the winningest gun I know of by far. Steve

20 days til Summer =)

Just bought and waiting for my sekhmet I take it that you have to degas the gun first Steve,be nice if you showed a vid on how to install one as there is no vids on TH-cam on how to.thanjs for your hard work and enthusiasm keep up the good work.👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yup,.degas and unscrew. Buy your self a few new seals from FX for it too. Less than finger tight when replacing. Steve
@@AEAC keep up with the the tune guides steve, people are using them here in the uk 👍
@@andrewharris4940 That's awesome, lol. Will do!
Hi Michael, PJ Clarke and I will get your question answered on an episode of ask AEAC soon. Best, Steve
Hi Steve my mystery gun was a BSA Airsporter, nice .AIr Arms didnt understand what i was asking about ?
Steve if you were going to buy just one for hunting plinking target shooting would you get the Maverick or the impact
Thank you
Seems you have it right for what you want to do (700mm & 34 gr). Best, Steve
Thanks for the vid very interesting. I do not have a Maverick but I wonder if this mid level settings will work on my M3? I might have to give it a try.
Same tuning principles should get you to where you want to go there too 👍
Hey Steve I'd like to get one of the Sekhmet gauges for my M3. Is there a difference between the stainless and the brass other than color, Maybe stainless more durable or would it even matter
Thanks, Bob
If it were me, I'd buy the cheapest one, lol. Brass can oxidize some but that never bothered me. Steve
Steve
What does IHS 0 means ? And how do i set it right?
Im trying your tune 95 first reg, 70 2nd
Best, Steve
How did u make those graphs ? What software where u using ?
Microsoft Excel
Great video! Did u mic. The micro adjuster to see what it was set at from factory?
I did not, sorry but you can easily duplicate the OEM shot chart I shared, then measure 👍
This guy is legendary
Is this setting applies to all cal.???
Hey wondering if you could help me with my first FX rifle! Have the VP in .22 and your video has been very helpful but I’m having trouble tuning for 23gr NSA and patriot slugs. Trying to get it it around 950 for longer range hunting but my velocities seem to be all over the place. Any tips on where to start with the power wheel and micro adjuster?
Hi Trevor. PJ Clarke and I will get your question answered together on an upcoming episode of ask AEAC soon. Best, Steve
Tnx very helpful... keep up the good work
👍
please make one for fx impact m3
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the great work! I must have spent hours watching your video's… :)
Forgive me my ignorance, but is IHS the fine adjustment setting for the hammerspring?
And if so, what's the take-off point? It being turned all the way in?
If so, I'm definitely going to try out some of your tunes. I've tried several different slugs, but it's been really frustrating so far.
Kind regards,
Bob.
Best, Steve
How many fills do you get from your scuba tank😊
Badass top notch video ! An instructor at his finest ! What do you do for a living ?
This 🤓
1:05:29 you say; "open Clockwise" if I'm not mistaken, you open the reg counter Clockwise and that is how you are showing us a few seconds later. Or did I misunderstand that?
I must have misspoke, sorry. Counterclockwise = open =i increased flow & pressure 👍
Do you remember how much time the gauge took to arrive? i bought one to sekhmet and they didnt inform me if it was shipped to my country yet.
Mine came from Southern Precision Air Weapons here in Florida (right away). They are a license dealer. Steve
