Finally someone understands palkia’s power, he is always overshadowed by his brothers because of, ComPeTIvE PlAY he is the god of SPACE ITSELF he has strength. I also like to believe he is the oldest of his brothers, considering that he can create dimensions, giving Giratina a home, and dialga needed a place for time to flow, so Palkia gave his brother that gift.
You must know nothing about competitive to say that 😂 FYI Palkia is the better of the trio when it comes to competitive play EVEN MORESO now with their origins forms giving him 120 spd. But all three are powercrept a long time ago. Not even top 10 in Ubers.
After reading/watching the lore and playing the games, my ultimate conclusion is thus: Giratina, alongside Dialga and Palkia, watched over and protected the lands under their care (specifically Sinnoh). However, something happened that caused Giratina to snap and accidentally rampage in a fit of blind rage. For this, Arceus banished Giratina to the distortion world, perhaps less as a punishment and more as a place for him to rethink his actions. No matter the case, Giratina was furious, and now had serious beef with Arceus. Then, he met Volo, someone who had the same goal of meeting Arceus. Giratina, seeing this as an opportunity to get revenge for his banishment, agreed to help Volo… which starts the events of Legends Arceus. When you fight Volo, he calls on Giratina. Giratina, as of now, believes Volo to be his ally. However, when the battle ends, Giratina flees, and it is later said by Volo that Giratina had chosen to give up his fury and has decided to protect Sinnoh. Flash forward to D/P/P, and Giratina learns of Cyrus’ attempts to create his own world by forcing Dialga and Palkia to use their powers for his own goals. Giratina once again rises from the distortion world… but he’s not making the same mistake twice. Giratina remembers how insane Volo was, and he remembers how catastrophic Volo’s actions could have been. Giratina, remembering his mistake, takes Cyrus with him and disappears, freeing Dialga and Palkia in the process in an act of twist mercy . Through all the time that Giratina had to brew on his first transgressions, he truly managed to stop his desire for revenge after seeing what could happen and how he could be manipulated during a state of emotional weakness. Giratina, once said to be a destructive, evil monster, has become one of the most powerful protectors of Sinnoh and the dimensions. It’s almost poetic, if you think about it.
Eli approved. This was also very well written, You should post this somewhere as a way to explain the Giratina timeline/lore since it very clear and condensed. Good job! (But I still think Giratina was done dirty)
I love Giratina's shiny. The colors are almost opposite, kind of like a distorted version of the normal colors, which makes sense since Giratina controls the distortion world
Bro was literally just protecting his territory. The two worlds keep each other in balance, and so when Cyrus was about to destroy ours, The Distortion World was threatened, so Giratina, who lives there, was rightfully enraged.
The stuff about Giratina being banished to the distortion world isn't even true. It's just a myth people came up with to demonize Giratina in universe. It's just the dimension he lives in, which may or may not be an afterlife ghosts end up in. In the games, Giratina is clearly capable of leaving the distortion world and does so without assistance. Legends Arceus slanders him with his undeserved villain role but in Platinum he was 100% the saviour of Sinnoh. He shows up specifically to stop Cyrus once it becomes clear the player and the lake trio can't do it. The stuff Cynthia says is speculation based on myths rather than objective facts, so there probably wasn't actually any danger after that. Giratina waits for you to initiate the encounter and you're not actually trapped there. There's no aggression and endangering the world after saving it would be counterproductive. In the anime/movie continuity, Giratina also isn't banished and is portrayed more positively as a guardian that safeguards a dimension that plays an important role in the integrity of the universe. The plot of the movie happened because Dialga made it so that time loops back on itself when Giratina tries to use his own portals to leave the reverse world, which is why he needed Shaymin to create a portal that wouldn't do that to break the loop. It's also made pretty clear that Arceus and the creation trio all have their own realms they live in most of the time and Giratina's just happens to be the only one people actually interact with. Another thing about the movies is that Giratina is actually a lot nicer than the other legendaries. He pauses the fight with Dialga when he notices Shaymin getting caught up in it, whereas Dialga and Palkia nearly destroyed an entire city without even noticing. Giratina stops in the middle of a followup fight with Dialga to greet Ash and lets the issue go on Ash's word. He's also very appreciative of Ash for helping him during the previous movie.
This is very interesting since it explains a lot about why Giratina can leave the distortion world even though he is banished. The only thing I don’t agree with is saying the distortion world is the afterlife since it clearly portrayed as a mirror to the real world, hence why I think Giratina is doing a better job protecting the world then Arceus since Giratina is actively helping people compared to just sleeping for 1,000,000 years. But your comment is very well written and I really like the points you bring up!
@@Eli_IsThatYou I wasn't presenting the afterlife thing as a fact so much as referencing some insinuations in the pokemon lore. In D/P, you encounter Giratina in Turnback Cave, which is reached through Sendoff Springs. The place is presented as an ancient cemetery and the inscription behind Giratina is about life, death and the meeting of two worlds. To add to this, Giratina is a ghost type and some ghost type pokemon entries like Dusknoir's reference things like the spirit world, which may also be referring to the distortion world. It's very strongly implied that whether or not the distortion world is actually an afterlife, it was perceived as one at some point and Giratina used to be worshiped as a protector of the dead. The game and anime continuities are different, so you have to be careful not to mix them up. The reverse world from the movie works differently from the distortion world in the games. They look different too. Characters make some interesting theories about it in the game, but we don't have concrete facts about how it works, what its relationship with the regular world is and if it was under threat from Cyrus' plan. What the characters say isn't reliable since they're mostly just guessing. Cyrus was completely blindsided by Giratina's appearance and Cynthia doesn't know much more. The implied erasure and vilification of Giratina doesn't necessarily mean it did anything bad. We know the banishment thing is an inaccurate assumption, which makes claims it did anything to warrant the banishment that never happened equally questionable. It's more likely to have been a religious conflict disallowing worship of the big scary ghost dragon and the big scary ghost dimension. Functionally, the distortion world is just a pocket dimension Giratina lives in, like how ultra beasts live in ultra space. In theory Dialga and Palkia have pocket dimensions too but no one's ever seen or interacted with them, so no myths were made about it.
I think Giratina being the villain in P:LA is actually fine. To me, it forms an amazing redemption arc. Giratina sees Cyrus, and is reminded of Volo. He remembers what Volo would've done, and decides to change. He appears before Cyrus, and drags him to the Distortion World, trapping him, and saving Sinnoh. Although I can see why you'd be upset with the story.
@@imtheonewhoaskedlol I'm fine with the gameplay itself but a lot of the plot doesn't really make sense when you stop and think about it, even besides Giratina. Making the protagonist into a timetraveller sent by pokegod himself has some issues. I'd much rather we played as just some kid from the time period itself. For Giratina specifically, it didn't need a redemption because it never actually did anything wrong. The original context of Giratina intervening against Cyrus is better than the retcon that some offscreen redemption arc had to happen to make Giratina willing to save the world from the guy that abducted and attempted to enslave all 5 of its siblings. Volo gets done dirty in this too since his villain reveal clashes with some things he does earlier on and he doesn't really get much explanation for his motives. He's just a villain because Reasons. The plan was stupid even when Cyrus tried it but it worked with him because the story actually spent time developing his reasons for doing what he's doing and being stubborn enough to ignore the problems with it. Why was Giratina even going along with the plan anyway? He has agency, so I guess we're supposed to think he agrees? But it's just more of people projecting their explanations onto Giratina. It's not impossible that the entire plot was set up by Arceus and Giratina was just playing a role to challenge people but even if that's true, the plot just exacerbates common misconceptions around Giratina. An easy fix would've been to have them be mad about some past wrong people committed against Giratina and his worshipers. Rather than destroying the world, they're just trying to kick people out of Sinnoh and oppose further colonization of the area. That would make more sense as a motive and make it clear they're not actually evil.
From what I interpreted: Giratina is the middle child with issues and deals with BS from Palkia and Dialga, and is simply a silly guy doing his work diligently even after Arceus grounded him into the Distortion world
9:03 It's explained by Cyrus in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl that a pokeball only captures a small fragment of the true power of such immensely unstoppably powerful legendaries as Dialga and Palkia. This is why Cyrus straight up gives you a Master Ball for defeating him in his base, as he is about to use the Red Chain to control the deity instead of a pokeball So when you catch Arceus, you aren't actually catching the full god, just a small portion.
I was always thinking that if you catch arceus, giratina, dialga or palkia, you merely catch an avatar, a fraction of their power. Which is why cyrus went out of his way with the red chains, instead of throwing a masterball.
I think I have a headcanon that answers many questions. First Giratina is banished for being "angry", but I have a feeling it's more of something he did in his rage rather than being angry outright. My belief is that Giratina gained enough power and (likely unintentionally) opened a massive rift through space and time (this also would explain how Volo would know Giratina could create a rift). This terrifies Palkia, Dialga, and Arceus as Giratina literally just affected the two dimensions he isn't supposed to have ANY influence over. Let me say that again, Giratina is SO strong that he can heavily influence parts of reality that by all means, he shouldn't be able to. This also might mean that given enough power (we are talking power a little lower but almost on par with Arceus) he could probably influence space and time itself (not as much influence as Palkia and Diagla but enough influence that it would be very noticeable). While not being able to find a better solution that keeps Giratina's power in check AND mitigates his natural impact on the world, Arceus has Palkia create a special space where Giratina's natural influence has a null effect on the space. Arceus then banishes him there while also trying to take care of the massive rift Giratina left. This causes Giratina to become enraged as he has just been cast out of his original home and can't return to see his family, and the worst part is he doesn't understand what he did wrong. This causes Giratina to have bitterness and hatred toward Arceus, which Volo later exploits. Keep in mind this is when the world is still relatively young and Giratina hasn't yet accepted his place/role (as he would later and would also lose his hatred against Arceus). This is why Giratina helps Volo during legends, he still hasn't come to terms with the new role assigned to him and is still angry with Arceus for banishing him.
I really like this headcanon a lot! it explains the weird reason why Giratina was banished and his actions in Legends Arceus. I don’t think it’s canon but i really like your perspective.
Giratina fucked with arceus and got banished. Legends arceus confirms that he wanted arceus' power all for himself. So he is a villain. In platinum, it's probably safe to assume that giratina is either doing the right thing now, or is just afraid that the protag from legends arceus game will bitchslap him again.
Honestly this has made me find Giratina more sympathetic, it's interesting to think about things in a new perspective. I wouldn't call any of the legends "good or bad" but rather morally gray, because going off of mythology of various civilizations on Earth, various deities can be either benevolent, or malevolent to a culture. I mean, hell, Arceus even tried to *destroy the world* at some point. But in other depictions shows to change his views on humanity and decides to go with a trainer to see more of the world from their point of view. It's a bit of shame that others don't offer Giratina the same breathing room and exploration they do as Arceus, Dialga, Palkia and the other legends/mythics. Maybe sometimes all these dangerous deities need.. is a friend.. I will be that friend, I would hug all 4 of them (and probably die), fite me.
Personally, I believe that Arceus never actually BANISHED Giratina. Arceus had Giratina guard the Distortion World, and Giratina accepted despite the fact it would be alone. And in a game of legendary telephone, the legends shifted from being sent there to guard it, to it being banished there. It got ticked at Dialga and Palkia for their fight that completely messed up the place in the movies, and the reason it couldn't leave was because Dialga had trapped it there via a time loop. It was never hostile without reason- again, we see it vibe with Shaymin later!
I would assume that Arceus is far more powerful than the creation trio could ever dream of being (except for maybe Giratina, the dude could close the power gap tremendously if he gains enough power in his origin form). I mean, Arceus created them after all. Also, as far as who creates a new Arceus if he is captured, Arceus never actually gets caught, he simply grants said trainer a small fraction of his power, as he states in Legends:Arceus. My headcanon is that Arceus is kinda like Darkseid from the DC universe, his true form exists outside the boundaries of time and space and whatever Giratina has dominion over, and he simply creates an avatar of himself to interact with the pokemon world. Should it be destroyed or caught, he’ll just make another one.
Not just that but once the player beats it in Legends Arceus, it is widely believed (I don't remember if it was confirmed canon or not) that Giratina changed its ways and rather be the Destroyer of Hisui, it instead takes upon the role of Protector of the region. You see it in Platinum where it actively interrupts Cyrus' plans to make a new world and brings him to the Distortion World to keep the region safe. This is why it's my favourite Legendary Pokémon to this day.
Giratina - specifically, shiny Giratina Origin Forme - is my third-favorite Pokemon. I recently got it in Pokemon Scarlet, thanks to a friend who had an extra shiny Giratina laying around, and seeing it fall asleep when you let it follow you and stand still is just adorable. Giratina is misunderstood because it looks like a horrible demonic ghost centipede dragon, and it just wants to be loved.
@@Eli_IsThatYou So back in... I think he said Gen V, he and his brother both got a shiny Giratina from a GameStop event, and neither really had any use for it, so his brother gave it to him to store on Pokemon Home, so he had two.
@@Eli_IsThatYou Yeah, he put it directly onto his Pokemon Home from Gen V, and when I mentioned that I really love shiny Giratina, he was like 'hey, I've got an extra of that, it's yours if you want it." Didn't even ask me for anything crazy for it, I think I gave him like a level 3 Lechonk.
The way I would understand this is that Arceus created Dialga , Palkia and Giratina meaning he could probably slaughter them or just banish them to an inescapable prison sorta thing .
I’ve been waiting for someone to do a video about this and I truly agree that Giritina Is misunderstood from the community so I’m glad you made this video BTW he’s also my favorite Pokémon
One thing that has always thrown me for a loop is the wording choice of, and I quote ''Arceus's unwanted child.'' in PLA. They could have just gone with banished, if they wanted to spice things up,a bit, abandoned would have just worked too. But they chose UNWANTED of all words i.e: Arceus didn't even LIKE Giratina pre-banishment. Also the fact that Giratina lacks any gemstone ( dialga= diamond, palkia= pearl, arceus, while a tad vague at first = jade and the lake trio even have those.. garnets? Some sort of rock for sure. But Giratina? Giratina just. Doesn't.) Throw in the fact that Giratina when in base forme, is referred to in game files as Altered, while dialga & palkia are just referred to as Dialga and Palkia, and Giratina has a suspiciously perfect place for a gemstone behind it's back, combined with altered's definition, it just makes me go 🤔
Giratina has those crystal like spikes on it's wings in altered form. And the origin form has those tendrils made of the same material. So maybe.. those count?
Well, unwanted in the sense that it wasn’t an intentional birth… Giratina was created from the original One’s shadow, or essentially, an inverted Arceus. Arceus might be fine with Giratina now, but Giratina is at its core, Arceus’s doppelgänger, which explains the clashing and hostility, they’re literally opposites.
Maybe I'm missing something but I thought he did have a gem, either the orb or given his themed game being platinum. Still, I feel like he did something that earned him banishment. Sure all three can get angry, but the other two aren't known historically for their temper. Aside from being an opposing existence, I kinda wonder with the destroyed ruins and the missing sinnoh people and culture, if giratina might have had something to do with it. Maybe he got so mad he tried to destroy all the people, either his statue was destroyed before or after his rampage.
"they were worshipped by ancient Sinnoh people despite the gods erratic and violent behavior" Oh man, like we don't have any religions around today that worship god(s) that have done some unspeakably foul things for offenses that shouldn't affect a cosmic entity at all.
I am a christian and I straight up recall a story where god was tricked into ruining some dude's life until said person stopped believing and instead of taking the L, it was spun into a lesson to never stop believing regardless.
@@lpfan4491that sounds a bit different from what I recall. It didn't sound like a trick and God didn't "do" the acts, I recall lucifer asking permission to commit the acts
@@lpfan4491 seems the version i have describes it as Satan claimed he could turn Job against Him and God took it as a challenge and allowed Satan to do what he wanted with certain restrictions. It also said God blessed him beyond what he originally had.
Okay, so, i was hoping to follow along with this, but there is one MAJOR problem NEVER addressed... If Giratina isn't evil, why did he WORK with Volo to OVERTHROW Arceus? That doesn't really add up to me at all since Volo was out of his mind.
I have a headcanon where I answered this question below. But a quick summary is that Giratina (because the world is still young) has very recently been banished by Arceus and Giratina holds a grudge against him (Giratina would eventually get over this grudge). Volo (being the manipulator he is) exploits this grudge/anger and manipulates Giratina to further his cause.
Could be a thing that Giratina learns after. Like it originally despises Arceus because of the banishment but after meeting the protag, learns to stop the resentment. Idk tbh
Giratina is one of my all time favorite and his storyline is messed up he should’ve been kept as a mystery pokemon. He is NOT a representation of the devil
@@crazysilberking9541 yeah that’s a Good one. Gravity works way better. He can’t be about anti matter because if he was about anti matter then the whole creation thing wouldn’t fit. He’s brings about distortion in legends arceus so he is a reverse pokemon of the trio. Hes just an awesome centipede with armor that has the best origin form. He’s not the bad guy. In Pokemon platinum he was sort of like Rayquaza. And wasn’t at all the bad guy. They really did Giratina injustice with this new story
my head-cannon is that after getting banished to the shadow realm- i mean distortion world giratina realized his mistakes and became good and since distortion world is directly related to the main world arceus seeing that giratina has became good, just made giratina the guardian of the distortion world and since pokemon has infinte timelines thus infinite arceus each may have a unique persona and the jewel of life arceus is the one with the worst temper and who knows pokemon like giratina don't speak to us like "yo did you know this happened?" so we may never know if you combine all of the three in their origin forms you get a rough image of arceus (and if you give it arceus's color scheme it's almost the same) so basically in their true forms together they are equal to arceus
This is honestly one of my favorite theory’s so far, and it would make sense since Arceus and Giratina do act different depending on which game/movie you play/watch. I still think giratina was wrongly banished but this theory gets the *Eli Stamp of Approval*
I don't think Giratina was even banished at all. I think the Distortion World was created by Arceus for Giratina to house and contain it like how Dialga and Palkia have their own home pocket dimensions, not because Giratina itself is violent, but because the effects it has on the world around it just by existing are. The Distortion World is the way it is now because of Giratina's powers passively warping it over time, and it lives there so the normal world doesn't get torn apart in the same way.
Headcanon and probably debunked but to me I think girantina wasn't banished by arceus, that's just humans interpreted it by lack of information. Think about it, all humans knew was that palkia and dialga was free and was traveling the universe while girantina apparently never appeared and stayed inside the distortion world. It also doesn't make sense for girantina to have gain another form only when connected to the distortion world if he was supposed to be banished there, usually you get weaker when banished but girantina successfully gained a form imitating arceus while "banished" how would that work its not like arceus power leaked into the distortion world for girantina to get so he either had to be born with it or gifted it.
I think Giratina is supposed to represent the chaos, void, or nothingness before God created everything, meaning it came after Arceus but before everything else
Giratina's primary inspiration is antimatter, according to an old dev interview. There's no evidence that Arceus didn't just create him at the start of the Pokemon universe as well. This makes it the direct opposite of Palkia and Dialga as a duo. Separately, the duo represent/create time and space, but collectively create/represent all matter/energy (the plate inscriptions in the D/P/P games mention this neat factoid). Or, put more simply: Dialga = Time Palkia = Space Dialga + Palkia = Matter Giratina = Antimatter This neatly explains why Giratina got sent to gay baby jail by Arceus as well. His existence is literally anathema to the Pokemon world, which is made of matter.
Giratina was placed on godly time out and it is clear that he doesn't hold any kind of grudge against his father. Which is why I find Volo's claims to be nothing but entitled nonsense and projections. You expect me to believe that the embodiments of time and space couldn't close a tiny portal? Try that with someone else. Whenever Arceus is depicted, aside from the Jewel of Life movie of which there is a lot of bad writing in there and even then he is pretty darn merciful considering that as a creator deity he didn't just command the orb to come to him or instantly undo the world and gave that tiny bit of land a very generous amount of time including time travel to actually fix things, it is usually either benevolent or neutral. One badly written depiction shouldn't color the character.
I mean, not really. Arceus was clearly shown loving its creation at first, even being ready to risk itself to save a singular planet, it was only after almost getting assassinated and then seemingly being swindled when giving the world a second chance that it decided to undo it. I also doubt it actually can command the plates back when they are in a diffrent form, otherwise it would have just called it when trying to destroy the world to save itself the hassle of doing it manually.
@@lpfan4491 he can, we have seen him do it because those plates are apart of him, and as a creator deity him being hurt by meteors is nonsensical. The movie is just badly written, but even then the guy didn't undo his creation with a thought and instead gave them centuries to find and return the orb and he took his bloody time dismantling the place on top of allowing himself to be affected the changes in the past. Clearly the guy didn't want to destroy his own creation even in such blinding rage that he recognize his own children.
Erm not gonna lie spacial rend should be able to cut through anything since it cuts the space around it (transcends dimensions kinda like the infinite spin in jojo or sukunas world cutting slashes from jjk)
In their Origin Formes, they become LIKE Arceus, but they are nowhere near as powerful as Arceus is. I will be providing in-lore and in-game examples for both. Whether in their Altered Formes or their Origin Formes, their base stat totals are 680. All they are doing when entering Origin Forme is reshuffling their stats around and physically changing to look a little more like Arceus. But Arceus? Arceus possesses a base stat total of 720: over 40 points higher than either Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. And this is just a *part* of Arceus. In Pokémon: Legends Arceus, once you’ve defeated Arceus at the end of the game, Arceus says that it will bestow upon the main character a “part” of themselves to experience life alongside them as a partner. What we are seeing as Arceus, whether in the games or the anime, is only a very small portion of what Arceus allows us to see. It is more likely that there is a higher form of Arceus which exists above all realities, maintaining order, with all other Arceus that exist being a mere portion of his power, an embodiment of the creator in a given universe. When you say that Giratina becomes as powerful as Arceus, you aren’t even close: because Arceus is clearly more powerful than Giratina. Giratina was banished to the Distortion World by Arceus for violent behavior, and it was said that long ago, in ancient Hisui, a great hero appeared alongside ten mighty Pokémon, the Frenzied Nobles, and with their power they took to battle against the “almighty unknowable,” Giratina. Once the hero defeated Giratina in ancient Hisui, Giratina actually accepted its defeat, and returned to “its domain of no place returned” ( Old Verse 10 ). Volo tried to use Giratina’s power to again fight against Arceus, but the protagonist eventually defeats Giratina and Volo. Can it really be said that Giratina is truly as strong as Arceus? If that were true, Giratina wouldn’t need to side himself with Volo for a chance at defeating Arceus. It is likely that the relationship between Arceus and Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina is as a strict guardian: where every “child” of Arceus knows what is expected of them, but each of them would much rather do something else. Perhaps Giratina gets bored of being alone in the Distortion World? That is why I believe that we can encounter Giratina in the Sendoff Spring in Diamond and Pearl: it is one of the few places where Giratina is permitted to enter into our world and enjoy being in its Altered Forme. The same goes for Palkia and Dialga. In “Giratina & The Sky Warrior,” we see Dialga stopping in our world to drink from a lake. These Pokémon do enter into our world from their own from time to time to enjoy the beauty of the world, and to consume sustenance as we do. Perhaps this is why Giratina had such a conflict with Arceus. Giratina was the most upset about being completely alone in the Distortion World, a world which looks so much like our own world, yet is devoid of life. It seemed like a mockery of everything that Giratina truly enjoyed. There are no clear answers as to the exact aspects of ancient histories, or even the opinions of these Pokémon: only theories. One thing is for certain: Arceus is far stronger than Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina in all ways, and though together they might have a chance of overcoming a mere avatar of Arceus’ strength in battle, they stand no chance against the true Arceus, which cannot be calculated stat-wise. The true form of Arceus stands above all other variants of Arceus, reigning supreme above all of creation. Arceus is beyond all other beings in creation.
@@BIGMANBIGMULLET Yea your 100% right lol. I didn’t even know about Arceus True form until a year after I made that video lol. Although in the video I was more focusing on there story “power” less of there actual Base Stats. Should I have taken their Base Stats in consideration, I don’t know. I do feel like the Anime/story/Pokédex of Pokémon can sometimes contradict what the actual Stats in game says. But your right Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia are no where near as strong as “True Form Arceus”. but an argument could be made for “Fractured Arceus”.
@@Eli_IsThatYou If we could call it “fractured.” It gets a little difficult to categorize a certain species of Pokémon without concrete evidence of their existence, which likely will never be quantified in the Pokédex. For example, how we only have evidence and examples for White Kyurem and Black Kyurem, but not a “True Form Kyurem” or “Gray Kyurem.” All we have to verify the existence of a higher form of Kyurem is the term “The Original Dragon.” In the same vein, Arceus is also called “The Original One,” while Arceus / Dialga / Palkia could all be referred to as “Almighty Sinnoh” in some way. Want to know another fun fact I discovered that may be integral to lore? Get this: only Giratina has an “Altered Form.” Dialga and Palkia have Origin Formes, but the form they take in the original Diamond or Pearl games is not referred to as an “Altered Forme.” That makes me *very* curious about why only Giratina was considered “Altered,” and I have a theory: What if Giratina’s Altered Forme was created on its own? What if Giratina was never supposed to have a Forme created for our world, but it created one for itself because it didn’t want to remain trapped in the Distortion World in its Origin Forme forever? That could be the reason behind its violent tendencies: a desire to defy its fate against humanity and Pokémon.
@@BIGMANBIGMULLET I just called it “Fractured” because it sounded cool. And your right Dialga and palkia don’t Really have a Altered form it’s just there normal form, my monkey brain likes categories so I lumped them together. But that could be an interesting take on Giratina’s Altered form. I don’t know how he created a new form for himself but that’s a cool idea. at the end of the day I stand behind my video, I still think Giratina was unjustly put in Distortion Time out, I do think He’s as strong as “Arceus”.
@@Eli_IsThatYou It was a very cute video, I really love that you love Giratina so much. Giratina is not as powerful as Arceus, but at the end of the day, it is because he was meant to represent antimatter. In the primordial universe, matter and antimatter cancelled each other out, with matter winning out over antimatter. Giratina conceptually represents how volatile it would be if antimatter ( Giratina ) collided with matter ( our material world ). If allowed, I’d love to reference your video in an in-depth case study video on Giratina, going over its lore and game information to study where it lands on the hierarchy of power within the Pokémon world. I appreciate the thought you took to lovingly analyze Giratina in this video, and feel that branching off of it with some theories of my own might prove useful.
@@BIGMANBIGMULLET Yeah definitely! Reference all you want, as long as you credit me. I can’t wait to see your video! And thanks for keep this discussion classy and not toxic 🥰
@@Eli_IsThatYou the “Arceus” we see in the game is merely an avatar, you could imagine it as a sort of drone. Perhaps the “1,000 arms” are just the aforementioned “drones”. This is even backed up by PLA as at the end of the game, Arceus gives you a “small part of itself”. The actual creator itself (I’ll call it “Origin-forme Arceus”) is probably not a being our mind would be able to comprehend (To show you what I mean, imagine Bible-accurate angels. They look “the way they do” because they come from a higher plane of existence and what we depict them as is our brains trying and struggling to comprehend what it sees)

Giratina represents antimatter. Its violence is a reference to the violent reaction that happens when matter and antimatter come into contact. EDIT: grammar.
Girantina has always been misplaced and misunderstood at first. Though I WILL say a flaw if you are taking things from the anime into consideration and PLA, Girantina himself was no good guy at that time, remember he HAD to be banished because of how destructive he is, his typing even reflects how he can counteract the wispy fence sheep arceus. Other than that I have a bone to pick with something, the idea that Palkia and Dialga represent 2 of the three main components that create most things in the universe but Girantina is IMMEDIATELY exuded and made "the ruler of antimatter" when I've always seen him as the GREATEST force in the known universe, gravity. His signature move looks like a black hole being torn through space time, the fact that the realm he keeps guard of has everything just aimlessly floating, heck his ability in his origin form is LEVITATE the guy is more of the god of gravity if anything, plus it makes sense since gravity is one of the fundamental elements that create the universe since ya know, there is space, time, and gravity? Also also, the guy came to the rescue in Platinum probably due to the fact that Girantina itself was shown compassion after being sealed away for so many years thanks to the events of PLA, Girantina basically had a face turn.
giratina was and always will be my fav legendary, will always be the most badass and memorable game mascot and pokemon platinum will always be one of the best if not the best pokemon game ever!
We also have to Keep in mind Legends Arceus Confirms the Arceus we see is just a Portion of Arceus. Though there is a Theory that Giritina, Palliative, Dialga, Eterntus are the Split up parts of the True Arceus and the Arceus we see is just the Shell of the Original. Though that Contradicts the Message you get from Arceus when you beat Arceus in Legends Arceus.
Giratina’s power warped reality by existing. If you made a ten trillion piece lego diorama as an adult and one of your kids wrecked it of it you’d punish them too, even if it was an accident. The child resented the father for being too harsh, and the father resents the kid unfairly. Neither are good or bad in this instance. Plus, if you where a god gave someone something in their time of need, something, and they tried to kill you as thanks, you’d be pissed too. Edit: Arceus has reason, not always the best, but, reasons. Not to mention Giratina’s events with ash happened because Ash time-traveled to calm Arceus, as well as what happened in Hitsui with Volo regardless.
darkrai and yveltal are another 2 misunderstood pokemon in the games. theyre presence cause bad stuff(endless nightmares and death) but they aren't purposely going out of their way to do this
Yveltal very does what it does intentionally, and is fully aware of the consequences. Unlike the others, Yveltal disregards other life forms at best and never shows concern to others before the protagonists captures its attention (for no reason lmao, XY as alway). It is stated several times that Yveltal steals the life force of other pokemon for its own self preservation, and not out of a duty. It absorbs the life of every living creatures around it to extend its life, and returns to a state of cacoon when it is done. I also wanna adress a weird issue with its dex entry. It does not destroy the universe if it ever dies, it actually enters its active form and steals the life of everything it can get its hands on when its life is about to end (kinda what happens in game, it woke up for that reason and honestly I don't know wtf Lysander was expecting it to do when it is known for waking up when it's energy is low to replainish it). It's also called the destruction pokemon, and its name is a wordplay "evil. While I think evil is maybe too strong for it, it's definitely far from benevolent or acting on a duty.
Yveltal is an anomaly. The Kalosplot does not make sense without it involving Xernias, so it feels like Yveltal only exists to satisfy the corperate need to always sell two diffrent versions of the same game. Unless I misremember, the idea of the cycle of life and death in nature does not even come from the games, it comes from the movie where Yveltal does not even have a role in the plot, the characters just get caught in the crossfire of the death-phase.
I'd like to think that the Arceus hand theory is true and that the Arceus in the Anime was just a pissed off "Hand" of Arceus but there are countless other hands that'll take it's place if that one falls or is captured.
@@Eli_IsThatYou basically the theory is that the Pokedex Entry says that Arceus built everything with 1,000 hands. But as you can see, Arceus doesnt have any hands.. Well if you take a close look at Arceus you'll notice that he's pretty hand shaped. So the theory is that the "Arceus" we see is just one of the MANY hands of the "True Arceus"
@@Eli_IsThatYou Would make sense imo if the Arcrus in the Movie was a seperate Arceus to the one in Legends Arceus who sent soneone to the past to stop everyone from dying.
In the lore, it is mentioned that Arceus spawned in an egg from nothing but it is entirely possible that those "origin events" are simply the original Arceus, which is a higher being beyond comprehension, spawning another god for a new unique world in the multiverse to begin(Because each minor branch has to start from a major branch). This is consistent with how both the Anime/movie Arceus that created that world and the Arceus in the Hall of Origin that supposedly created the Gameworld are both seemingly identical to the Arceus that is given to the protag as a gift in Legends...which is stated to be equivalent to a tiny fragment part of the original Arceus' powers. Evidently, the original Arceus is thus a character introduced by Legends Arceus and didn't properly exist before(though it may possibly be mentioned in Mystery Dungeon) and it is unclear why it decided to reveal itself to the protagonist specifically, probably just bored and interessted in where a bit of where timetravel-shenanagans could lead. Notably, this idea weirdly has logical precedent. In HGSS, the Arceus that created the gameworld is able to create an egg of one of the legendary Sinnoh trio from nothing, which may be an intentional parallel to how it itself seemingly appeared from nothing.
I want to ask whether it is true or not that Red Chain can control Giratina or not like his brother Throughout the Pokemon series we only see Dialga and Palkia who are always hit by red chains and Giratina is never hit by red chains. (if Giratina cannot be controlled by the red chain that is enough to prove that Giratina is stronger than Dialga and Palkia like in pokemon generation eps 11 Giratina solo Dialga and Palkia)
@@ahmadriskigaming1148 that is an interesting theory! I guess technically maybe? We’ve never seen anyone try to use the red chain on Giratina but I don’t fully know how the red chain works. I’ll have to do more research on that. Thanks for bringing it up!

Cynthia in Pokemon Masters suggests that Giratina is actually a Kind pokemon who quietly protects the world from the distortion world.
From what I interpreted:
Giratina is the middle child with issues and deals with BS from Palkia and Dialga, and is simply a silly guy doing his work diligently even after Arceus grounded him into the Distortion world
Sounds about right lol
(to me Giratina the oldest but no bias)
9:03 It's explained by Cyrus in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl that a pokeball only captures a small fragment of the true power of such immensely unstoppably powerful legendaries as Dialga and Palkia. This is why Cyrus straight up gives you a Master Ball for defeating him in his base, as he is about to use the Red Chain to control the deity instead of a pokeball
So when you catch Arceus, you aren't actually catching the full god, just a small portion.
Huggies for My little distortion world dweller
Personally, I believe that Arceus never actually BANISHED Giratina. Arceus had Giratina guard the Distortion World, and Giratina accepted despite the fact it would be alone. And in a game of legendary telephone, the legends shifted from being sent there to guard it, to it being banished there. It got ticked at Dialga and Palkia for their fight that completely messed up the place in the movies, and the reason it couldn't leave was because Dialga had trapped it there via a time loop.
It was never hostile without reason- again, we see it vibe with Shaymin later!
Arceus banned Giratina due to physics: matter and antimatter collide, it creates destruction.
Theres a video saying that Giratina is not about antimatter. Instead, it's probably GRAVITY.

I was playing a randomizer nuzlocke while playing this and a trainer suddenly had a Giratina.
Luckily, my Petilil and Flareon got it covered.

But Giratina? Giratina just. Doesn't.) Throw in the fact that Giratina when in base forme, is referred to in game files as Altered, while dialga & palkia are just referred to as Dialga and Palkia, and Giratina has a suspiciously perfect place for a gemstone behind it's back, combined with altered's definition, it just makes me go 🤔
Omg your right, now it makes even more sense. Giratina was done dirty
"they were worshipped by ancient Sinnoh people despite the gods erratic and violent behavior"
Oh man, like we don't have any religions around today that worship god(s) that have done some unspeakably foul things for offenses that shouldn't affect a cosmic entity at all.

@@zubnasty well at least for me I’m glad his story is out there. It’s so unique and interesting and it’s one of the reasons why I love Giratina
@Eli_IsThatYou I believe that Giratina is the "god of Gravity" and not "antimatter"! Reality is made out of space, time, Matter and Gravity.
He becoming one of my fav legendary right with dialga dude needs some respect and freinds :(
my head-cannon is that after getting banished to the shadow realm- i mean distortion world giratina realized his mistakes and became good and since distortion world is directly related to the main world arceus seeing that giratina has became good, just made giratina the guardian of the distortion world and since pokemon has infinte timelines thus infinite arceus each may have a unique persona and the jewel of life arceus is the one with the worst temper and who knows pokemon like giratina don't speak to us like "yo did you know this happened?" so we may never know
if you combine all of the three in their origin forms you get a rough image of arceus (and if you give it arceus's color scheme it's almost the same) so basically in their true forms together they are equal to arceus
This is honestly one of my favorite theory’s so far, and it would make sense since Arceus and Giratina do act different depending on which game/movie you play/watch. I still think giratina was wrongly banished but this theory gets the *Eli Stamp of Approval*
@@Eli_IsThatYou thanks i appreciate it
I don't think Giratina was even banished at all.
Yes to all of this!

@@Eli_IsThatYou yes 😎

Or, put more simply:
Dialga = Time
Palkia = Space
Dialga + Palkia = Matter
Giratina = Antimatter
This neatly explains why Giratina got sent to gay baby jail by Arceus as well. His existence is literally anathema to the Pokemon world, which is made of matter.
I am not joking I thought that Palkia and dialgia were just simple gods, but HOLY SH!-
Giratina was placed on godly time out and it is clear that he doesn't hold any kind of grudge against his father.
Me and my brothers like Giratina. He helped us.

Yea but giratina :3
For example, how we only have evidence and examples for White Kyurem and Black Kyurem, but not a “True Form Kyurem” or “Gray Kyurem.” All we have to verify the existence of a higher form of Kyurem is the term “The Original Dragon.”
In the same vein, Arceus is also called “The Original One,” while Arceus / Dialga / Palkia could all be referred to as “Almighty Sinnoh” in some way.
Want to know another fun fact I discovered that may be integral to lore?
Get this: only Giratina has an “Altered Form.”
Dialga and Palkia have Origin Formes, but the form they take in the original Diamond or Pearl games is not referred to as an “Altered Forme.”
That makes me *very* curious about why only Giratina was considered “Altered,” and I have a theory:
What if Giratina’s Altered Forme was created on its own?

@Eli_IsThatYou your video is great, bro, for real!

You've painted the funny image in my head of Origin form Palkia just casually deconstructing Arceus by the atom.

Same with Zeus and Hades. Zeus is a jerk who did it because of nothing else but something they couldn't control
I’m not a expert on Greek mythological but if so that’s pretty cool!!
Just wait until gamefreak reveals Arceus’s Creator Form…

@@TheKrimsonKhaos the jumpscare when you first see him is Peak
@@Eli_IsThatYou definitely a core childhood memory
We also have to Keep in mind Legends Arceus Confirms the Arceus we see is just a Portion of Arceus. Though there is a Theory that Giritina, Palliative, Dialga, Eterntus are the Split up parts of the True Arceus and the Arceus we see is just the Shell of the Original. Though that Contradicts the Message you get from Arceus when you beat Arceus in Legends Arceus.
Wasn't the game an interpretation of a story that was passed down for hundreds of years?
Arceus’ hand?
@@Eli_IsThatYou basically the theory is that the Pokedex Entry says that Arceus built everything with 1,000 hands. But as you can see, Arceus doesnt have any hands.. Well if you take a close look at Arceus you'll notice that he's pretty hand shaped. So the theory is that the "Arceus" we see is just one of the MANY hands of the "True Arceus"
@flamingdeathbanana image creator form of Arceus. This video would just be invalid lol
I want to ask whether it is true or not that Red Chain can control Giratina or not like his brother
Throughout the Pokemon series we only see Dialga and Palkia who are always hit by red chains and Giratina is never hit by red chains. @@ahmadriskigaming1148 that is an interesting theory! I guess technically maybe? We’ve never seen anyone try to use the red chain on Giratina but I don’t fully know how the red chain works. I’ll have to do more research on that. Thanks for bringing it up!

The person that creates more Arceus’s is Beta Arceus. Maybe.
I still think it’s bidoof 🦫
Understand THE ORIGINAL ONE has power over all though arceus gave me equal power it does not mean their power surpasses his and secondly arceus is invincible to all elements space, time as long as he has all 17 of creation... HE IS GOD origin or what think of it as this like a power source if there's no power source no life so he supports EVERYTHING
Arceus wants no equal
True, but that’s why he need to be put in place
@@Eli_IsThatYou The creation trio at full power can't over throw arceus the arceus we see in the games is just a fraction of the real arceus even the arceus we see at the end of legends is just a fraction we have never seen the real arceus before let alone his power
@@renegaderiley888 but do we know that Arceus is only using a faction of his power? I don’t see anywhere that it says that
@@Eli_IsThatYou Quora
@@Eli_IsThatYouThat means the Pokemon that etablish space and time rules can be defeated with a random starter pokemon and others pokemons with good level. BRUH. Why doesnt my fire starter can create its own universe ;-;
GREAT VÍDEO!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
It’s great but I think you missed the fact that arceus entrusted a powerful artifact to a human who only survived by luck and he betrayed him like Adam and Eve plus arceus is also the creator of them and maybe not be in his true form because he might not need it and to not cause the most damage.
Your right about him entrusting the jewel to them but I don’t really see the comparison to Adam and Eve. And as Arceus not being in his true form I don’t think Pokémon will add another form for him, and even if they do the creation trio would still be equal to Arceus if they get enough “Power”. But that’s just my opinion lol
Giratina isn’t bad i agree too
Are you defending Satan, sir?
No. I’m defending GIRATINA
Omost e rwan ave heis pints is from the anema and the anema is not kanon
Yea…what he said
Bro he literally was banned by people because he was so violent💀
I love palkia👍🥰 amazing dizain.
But i also love giratina .
Omg me too!!
But they could destroy the universe though. But why?
I like to think Giratina is the Lucifer of Pokémon while Dialga,Palkia,Mespirit,Uxie and Azelf are angels and Arceus is god itself
iirc in the bible Demons were once angels but are banished into hell(Distortion world)
Distortion world is an empty world and giratina is allready confirmed to be the god of anti matter
@@davidfilipe4460 the Distortion world is also said to be a realm of chaos like how Hell basically is
@@Ego-Fiend no it's not game freak stated that both giratina and the distortion world represent anti matter it's a world that needs to exist in order to balance matter thats why it's on the reverse SIDE of ours, Just like real anti matter IS on the reverse side of matter, and hell is place filled with fire demons and sinners simple comparing both is stupid in My opinian
@@davidfilipe4460so the creation trio shares a lot of similarities to angels, namely archangels, and the banishment does sound the same with wanting to get even with arceus much like lucifer.
However in universe there is no mention of heaven or he'll, no "you'll meet arceus or giratina when you die". The distortion world is described as chaos but that's all, the movies describe it as a world of anti matter. There's very little information about it besides existing alongside the pokemon world so even if the theme is similar, like you said its not canon and giratina isn't the devil, though he is feared for his power and anger issues.
@@REVENinfinite everyone is Entitled to their own interpretation and opinion, but canonacly speaking giratina along side the distortion world represent anti matter (allready confirmed by the creators) the thing is the hole story of "the creation trio being similar to angels and etc" was never right to me, the sinnoh region was heavily inspired by Japan and it's pokémon along side the creation trio do share similarities with characters and figures from the Japanese mythology and folklore, the same thing goes for giratina sharing more similarities to Susano rather than Satan, Susano was a god that was banished from the heavenly realm to the mortal realm due to it's violent and agressive actions the same thing could be seen in giratina, however due to the lack of official confirmation none can be truely Said that they are or they are not inspired by such concept, in the end of the day is UP for you to decide
However simply comparing the distortion world to hell makes no sence, hell is a world filled with demons, fire and sinners and the distortion world is an empty world that represents anti matter, while both are somewhat chaotic the distortion world and hell are two completely different things with different representations, personally trying to over compare real life religion with a fictitious game who's main audience is children Just feels wrong (including comparing It to a religion who's well known and controversial)
Yeah, he is a bad guy. He was banished for a reason.
Pokemon is a mid series that got popular because it is has a unique concept.
True but also I like the funny Pokémons 😛
Nah they look cool and some have good stories
@@SwerveNation yes so games are good but when most are not it lowers the series overall.
Giratina and palkia are meh
Ghost type and being "banished'.
I love CT. They look cool, they are OP and their lore is amazing.
Their lore is why I love Gen 4 and legends Arceus. Some of my favorite Pokémon moments
Nice logic, CT are among the most OP anime characters.
What’s CT? Also I’m glad you liked the video
@@Eli_IsThatYou Creation trio.
Also I do prefer to call them "siblings".
@kunik61 they are pretty cool 😎
