Yeah I would say this is one of KC’s best compositions not just on Blue but between that record and the debut. Thanks! It’s a tough song to recreate but I’ve watched Kevin play enough to understand what he’s doing. Appreciate the support my friend :)
I’ve considered it. I’ll have to plan it out and post to the community to see what they think. I wouldn’t say there is a demand for them but in the case of Wounded being that I don’t really see any for that song, I guess I could give it a go.
@@danbunch3926 I learned them by ear and from watching Kevin play them at live shows back in the day and a home video of him at his house which helped the most. That Blue tab book is wrong in some places i.e.The Red Summer Sun, 1,000 Julys, etc, so don't invest. It's 50/50 for the most part because they did get the wounded turning right as well as the ones for Darkness. I mainly have it as a collector's item as with the self-titled tab book, which is more accurate since Kevin had input with the writing of it.
Fuckin nailed it. REally acurate and killer playing nicely edited as well. I loved it! The first three albums changed my life for sure. thanks for this i need it.
I don't know how you pull it off but you seem to outdo yourself every time. I have to think that Wounded is one of the most difficult 3EB covers to do and you totally nailed it. Must have been a big challenge to learn all those different parts. Fantastic job! Sidenote: which of their songs do you feel is the most difficult to replicate?
Thanks, really appreciate the support. Yeah “Wounded” took me several years to get down after watching Cadogan play it live and through various other resources. I would say off the top of my head the song that I would consider to be the hardest to recreate would be “Farther” which is also on Blue. Lots of unusual delayed effects & sounds that have definitely challenged me but as always you can expect to see it out at some point in the near future. That song is actually very old. It was written around 93-94 even though Blue came out in 99’. Also according to the credits, Stephan Jenkins was the only one credited to “Farther” and after communicating with original bassist Arion Salazar, he has recently told me that he provided guitar on some of the Blue tracks for the “non-Cadogan” songs. Thanks for watching as always!
@@tonyblauveldt4535Yeah I did God of Wine a while ago but I’m planning to redo it very soon! My mixing wasn’t the best at the time and I’ve worked on some techniques that will make it much better. Cadogan is one of my biggest influences and is the reason I own 2 MJ Mirage guitars, one of which was built for him that being the Catalina I have been using a lot lately. Thanks for watching!
@@BDKelso2000 He's brilliant, his 2017 solo EP "All the High Castles" is only three songs and I love it more than the last three 3eb albums combined lol
I'm really digging the neck humbucker combined with a neck single coil. Can you control how much blend of each of those are in the signal path at the same time? That would be epic.
You can blend the two together because of the 2 switches on the bottom, it’s about even as far as the blend goes. The guitar used to have a sustainer in the neck where that single coil is placed. It also used to have just a 3 way switch but now has a 6-way for more tone versatility. The sustainer wasn’t necessary since my Green one already has it. I have a chart that will show you how the setup works. I’m highly considering making a video on my MJ Mirage guitars because I get a plethora of questions about them.
It’s mainly from having my volume knob up at about 50-75% give or take. If you want to achieve Kevin Cadogan’s overdriven sound, my best advice is to make sure you aren’t going heavy on the gain and also keeping the volume knob under 100%. This will allow you to have a heavy sound while still being able to hear the individual notes in each chord, if that makes any sense.
Hey there! This MJ Catalina previously owned by Kevin originally had a 3 way pickup selector. My buddy Stewart Ross who previously had this guitar added a 6 way switch and removed the sustainer which was in the neck pickup position. Basically it’s a much more versatile guitar now since there are endless tonal possibilities. I have an entire video dedicated to MJ Guitars that I am in the process of making right now. You can expect it very soon! Cheers!
Unreal. Simply excellent.
Thanks!
Potentially Kevin’s magnum opus? You nailed it man I can’t believe I’m only just seeing this

Bravo, man! Sounded great!!

How did you get that distorted sound during the rhythm? Parts of wounded sounds cleaning, distorted
